The business name and archived reviews inform us that the Fish was set up for catering operations and not for direct sale to individuals. Apparently that changed gradually over the last year. I've been following @slipperyfishcatering on Instagram and see their announcements of daily specials, promotions and pop-ups. I fell hard for their Friday sushi pop-up menu: "Featuring our HAWAIIAN TUNA ROLL, DRAGON ROLL, and the classic CALIFORNIA ROLL. And to make this upcoming SUSHI FRIDAY POP-UP extra special, for each sushi that you order, you'll also get an extra sushi roll, our BACON OF THE SEA ROLL!" I had no idea what bacon of the sea might be; turns out that's salmon skin. I put in my order for a dragon roll (plus a complimentary bacon roll) and got a nice box of sushi for $20 (including tax and tip). The taste was superb -- excellent quality. There's a weekly Burger Tuesday (maybe on Wednesdays, I forget). Don't be surprised if you see me out on San Pablo Avenue one day with a hamburger in my hand.

One bright spot during the pandemic was when they had their little pop ups and offered take out. The food was always so good! Everyone is super kind and helpful. We ordered pre-made Thanksgiving dinner last year and it was INCREDIBLE! Probably in my top 3 Turkey day meals. Highly recommend this women-owned business.

Slippery Fish offers take and bake meals you can pre- order. I'd had my eye on the Dim Sum meal but was a little intimidated....I didn't want to ruin it trying to reheat it myself. I caved and tried it....omg, it was DELISH! This reheating instructions were so simple. And it came with lots of dipping sauces....I was in heaven!

I was looking for a meal for just two people since we are trying to stay safe during covid. We got the Thanksgiving Take n Bake which was a prepared take home Thanksgiving meal for smaller parties. It was excellent! It came with turkey slices and parts, spinach stuffed pork loin, wild rice, stuffing, green beans, mashed potatoes, gravy, rolls, salad, bread pudding for dessert and even some beautiful flowers for the table. We decided to lightly fry things up instead of using the oven or microwave to reheat them and it turned out great. Everything was DELICIOUS! The two of us only got through about a quarter of the food so we'll be having leftovers for a while.

For our queer wedding of 125 guests, we decided to forgo the traditional, standard wedding menu and wanted to specifically support bipoc caterers who understood the complexities of an outdoor reception, the need for veggie/vegan/lactose-free/shell-fish free options, the casual atmosphere we were striving for, and our desire to infuse our distinct Asian heritage into the menu. After several months of searching for a non-traditional caterer for weddings, we discovered Slippery Fish Catering and Events. The attention to detail for our food stations exceeded my high expectations, especially the beautifully presented food stations inspired by Asian street food vendors. Furthermore, Slippery Fish supplied us with linens, bartending staff, and other rentals so we dealt with fewer vendors than typical. We were extremely impressed by the quality of the food, the attention to detail, and the professionalism and warmth of the entire team. We highly recommend Slippery Fish and thoroughly enjoyed working with the husband and wife team. The photos by Jen Rocha Photography speak volumes (https://www.yelp.com/biz/jen-rocha-photography-san-jose-4?osq=jen+rocha).

a place i was at catered slippery fish and the food was SO GOOD. like bomb dot com good. normally catered food is like nice but kinda okay. but this was like good good. i tried everything: the mac and cheese, beans, tri-tip, chicken, and swiss chard and corn, the jalapeño and corn cheddar soup, and peach cobbler. the beans were AMAZING and i don't even like beans. they sweet sweet savory and the sauce was so good accidentally contacting all the other food on my place. the mac and cheese was thick and honestly kinda cold but the bean sauce made it extra good. the tri tip was SOO juicy and fresh tasting and the char was perfection. a little salty honestly but hey just eat it with some of the swiss chard and corn!i didn't know swiss chard and corn could taste so good and so good together. the chicken was good and juicy but not like life changing. the jalapeño and corn cheddar soup was unexpectedly tasty. idk why but i've had some pretty watery soups lately and i was expecting that but this was light but still rich. the brother was beaded with like the fatty flavor and stuff. so that was nice. the cobbler was a little cold and honestly all i wanted with it was ice cream. but i drank tea with it instead. overall really delicious!

One year later and another Greyhound Reunion. Slippery Fish catered another wonderful meal of ribs, chicken, Mac & Cheese, salad and spicy slaw. Just as good as last year's spread.
