My date and I were looking for a place to grab food after some drinks at mini boss. Was surprised to see a skewer place in dtsj just down the street from all the bars. It's a a bit small and right next to the corner so you might walk past the sign without realizing it.Food was cheap, the skewered were a tad over cooked but no where near bad or tough. I'd rate the skewered a 3.8/5, we got beef, lamb, and a mushroom one.Garlic fries were tad soggy but they were made fresh with loads of fresh garlic, would bump up the score if they were a bit crunchier 3/5Onion rings were a little on the harder side but we weren't looking for anything super fancy 3/5Veggie egg rolls were small but they came with soy sauce and sweet/sour sauce.I want to note that even though most of the food seemed to be premade/ store bought, they sold them for CHEAP and the wine was cheap too with a generous pour. You get what you pay for food wise and the service was great so it was a nice cheap place to grabe a few small bites, drinks and chat before jumping into clubs like temple, lab or splash (just a short walk in each direction)The service was really good and quick! They were nice people and very attentive to my date and I. I would definitely come back again in the middle of a night out in dtsj :) Thank you to skewers and brew for saving our tummies that night!!

The boyfriend and I stumbled across this hidden gem by accident -- and, we're so glad that we did.For starters, we were able to grab a seat immediately upon walking in on a Saturday night. Our bartenders were absolutely fantastic -- very fun, engaging, and entertaining. I wanted a cocktail but didn't care for the way it's traditionally made so they got creative for me, and the drink was soooo good. Refreshing, and very light -- even the boyfriend was impressed. He had a couple beers on tap and shared that they were also good. The menu is unique in that there are skewers of all kinds offered. It's not something you see all the time and the variety is pretty cool. We even got to sample one on the house, and it was really good! Here are the options offered as of October 2022:Lamb Skewer $2.85Chicken Skewer $2.85Beef Skewer $2.85Hot Link $2.85Green Chili Skewer $1.95Mushroom Skewer $1.95Eggplant Skewer $1.95In addition to the skewers, the menu also offers small bites to pair with your drink of choice.Corn on the Cob $2.85French Fries $3.95Chili Fries $7.95Garlic Fries $4.95Chili Bowl $495Dumplings $4.95Cucumber w/ garlic $4.95Vegetable Egg Rolls $4.95Onion Rings $4.95Must admit, the prices are more than fair for small bites in downtown San Jose. We had a few drinks before Ubering home. Shout out to this joint for an incredible experience. We'll be back to visit soon!

This is a pretty interesting little bar lol, me and my friends sometimes will start a bar hop sesh here and pregame with whatever cocktails the bartender makes up and some chicken skewers. We haven't actually tried the beers but the skewers are pretty good on a drunk night plus the vibes are always interesting and the bartenders are really social, so it's cool.

Came here for food after a night of barhopping. I've been eyeing this spot for a while as it's conveniently located right next to a row of bars downtown, but haven't had the chance to go until recently. There was house music pumping and a steady stream of people coming in throughout our time there. The seating area is quite small although there's a coffee table, small couches, and as well as seating available outside. The menu is straightforward and affordable. I was surprised at how small the selection of skewers was, although it had the most popular/basic meats that people would want anyway. I got the beef skewers, lamb skewer, and garlic fries. To my disappointment, the garlic on the garlic fries was from prepackaged minced garlic, so it didn't have that spicy/fragrant quality that we craved. Fresh garlic would totally level it up. The meats were good though and had that Chinese seasoning that makes everything taste delicious. The service was great. The wait was a bit long for our food but we didn't mind as the beers came out right away. Got the Eyecrosser, Triple Blitz, and the Monkey banana-flavored beer. All of them were refreshing. It's worth coming in and stopping for a drink/food as part of your night out!

They tried to pass sauvignon blanc with moscato. They think I'm stupid. One of the guy said sometimes sauvignon blanc is sweet. No one apologized. Wow that's just insult to me. The owner also said you should be drinking a cab instead of white wine. Uh I drink what I want and feel like! We also ordered some skewers. Beef is fatty and lamb is more leaner. They are stingy on letting u try beer. The owner let us try one ipa beer. I asked to try another beer on tap and he was reluctant. We also heard the other guy call out some guy who used the restroom. The guy gave a $20 or something right after. I mean it's understandable that the restroom is private. But damn

Service is great here and really enjoyed how attentive our waiter and chef was. He ran back and forth multiple times to make sure he could fulfill our order as we ordered. We tried a few items, the lamb, beef, mushrooms, and I think eggplant. I may have forgotten 1 other item haha Overall it was good but not amazing food. I wish it was a bit more flavorful, it was grilled items with the same seasoning sprinkled on top, but I think marinating the meat and veggies before grilling can elevate it or maybe have a good dipping sauce people could eat with the skewers? It is a bar situation as well but the vibes were a little dead so might be a great place if you have a larger group and want a restaurant / bar to yourselves! I felt like their prices were great for the food, we didn't buy drinks

This was a good compromise (we almost went to CREAM). Plus is wasn't busy on a Saturday night. We just got out of the Sharks game, so we wanted to go somewhere not as clubby. The skewers are a bit on the spicy side (I could taste the Chinese 5 Spice). This place also serves wine/beer as well.

I like that the name is straight to the point. Let's you know they got skewers and brew here! Location is great being right next to my favorite cocktail bar (shout out to 55 South), but Skewers and Brews being a new establishment, they do have some points to polish. Nonetheless, I'm rooting for them since their skewers prices are doable and great for lining my stomach before bar hopping.Came out on a Wednesday, and I wanted to try this place out before hitting Whiskey Wednesday over at Five Points. I had the Blonde Kolsch to pair with the chicken, beef, and shrimp skewers. I also got garlic fries and those take about 15 minutes. My Kolsch was great, absolutely refreshing and crisp. Skewers were pretty good, not mind-blowing, but they do the job. Our bartender, Reuben, was very nice and was running a one-man-show between grabbing our brews and prepping our food. Owner showed up when we were finishing up our skewers, and naturally because of the small-environment of this place, just about everyone can probably hear your conversation. Music could be played a little louder to ease the environment's awkwardness, and tables were not the cleanest when we walked into the empty place. We ended up sitting at the bar, and at least those counter tops were clean. I'll be back to try the corn next time since I'm frequently in the area.

M E A T! A reliable late night food spot oasis amongst the bars in downtown. The food is always good, it's way less crowded than any bar in the vicinity (and fairly cheaper), and the staff are always very nice. I love coming here! If you're doing a night out in downtown San Jose I totally recommend stopping here for a bite first.
