Sidewalk Burger

An iPad and a chef - that's all that is here to run a burger place. Sidewalk Burger is a new burger place in Oakland's City Center. It's a no-frills food place that shares a koisk and physical space with a falafel place. Only 4-5 small round tables and one was occupied by one of the staff members who was taking a break and on his computer. I ordered at the kiosk. Very simple menu and only a couple screens before paying and getting an electronic receipt. Very fast and easy. I waited only 5 minutes max for my burger. It came in a bag that had food splatter all over the outside. It was a new bag but I think the bags are in splatter range from the grill. I walked two blocks to my office and took the burger out. The picture of the unveiling is shown.The burger was kind of thin. The bun was really oily/greasy. Flavor was decent. Must have towels or napkins around when eating these burgers. Overall it was just ok. Not the best but certainly not bad. It's the closest burger place to work.

Service is great and the workers are as well just makes me sick when they told me they don't get the card tips while working. Taking advantage of immigrants is not cool . Food was great . Should not be legal. When I leave a tip it's based of the service the worker gave me, it is also left for the worker not for the owner to pocket.

I've seen this place open for some time and haven't had a chance to try it out. Well i don't know what i was wanting for. I personally love the Kiosk feature for ordering. I got a Sidewalk Burger and Loaded fries. I went around 12:00 on a Friday and saw my order was just getting worked on. I got my order and was in awe. it was beautiful.! i got my food decently quick. (Reference : Ordered at 11:55 was back at desk by 12:15 and I work near starbucks) yah girl was starving so i took a bite of the fries before i got back to my office and YUM! the sauce - DELICIOUS!Once i sat down to eat .... lemme tell yah... i took my time to enjoy every bite. I don't know why i waited so long to visit this place! 10/10 !! Definitely will be back for lunch (:

I have tried two of the breakfast burritos on the menu - the spinach and mushroom one, and the soyrizo one. Both were outstanding. Seriously - two of my all time favorite breakfst burittos. They are made to order, so very fresh, and still warm when I got to the office. The picture is of the spinach mushroom burrito, and I hope it looks good, but believe me - it's even better than it looks. The potatoes had a little crunch, the mushrooms were perfectly done (I don't like it when mushroom are overcooked), the tortilla was just the right level toasty, and the hot sauce really ties it nicely together. Great breakfast burrito, and my go-to from now on. The soyrizo was also excellent, and almost surprisingly flavorfull given it's vegetarian (not vegan - there's cheese and eggs). Only downside is that it's a bit much for a breakfast, and while I planned to only eat half, I ended up having the whole thing... well, with some snacking throuhgout the day this basically cariied me all the way to (an early) dinner, so I guess that's fine, but be warned :-) I highly recommend!

Eh...It shouldn't be possible to mess up a burger and fries, but this place somehow did that. I came here for lunch because I was craving a burger and Big E Burgers was unexpectedly closed for a few days. I got the turkey burger and fries, and this was just a bland, unsatisfying meal. I'm not sure anything was seasoned. The food wasn't so bad that I couldn't finish, but it wasn't decent enough that I could recommend coming here again.I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt and maybe give their beef burger a chance if they are somehow my only burger option again, but I don't see myself coming back anytime soon.The rest of their menu (the non-burger stuff) looked delicious, though, so I may have to come back for that. But if you're just wanting a burger and fries, this is not the place.

It's okay, just not worth the money in my opinion. 2/5Food: 1/3 I got the sidewalk burger,the loaded fries and a chocolar chip cookie. Total came out to about 19 after tax. Sidewalk burger: just a cheeseburger with their house sauce and caramelized onions. Not sure what it was, but the lack of anything fresh made this burger extremely salty. My first few bites tasted burnt! Mind you this was during their rush hour, but darnit, it was not that good. I'd rather have a habit burger or something with a more balanced flavor. Loaded fries: ehhh, it was okay. I appreciate that the fries are fresh, but they are not memorable and not as crispy as I like my fries. I suppose that's what you get when you have fresh cut fries? Either way, the loaded stuff didn't add anything for me unfortunately. Chocolate chip cookie: not good. Hard and unflavorful. I'd rather go get 3 cookies from subway for 50 cents more. Atmosphere/service: 0.75/1Simple shop, no frills. Shares the space with the gyro shop next door. Probably the same restaurant actually, just 2 different types of food. The man handling the grill was nice and seemed to be working as fast as he could during the rush. Other than that, pretty plain. Value: 0.25/1Not much value here in my opinion. $18 and none of the food tasted what I would call "good". I think the value is that it's a burger place right in the city center. When food options are diminishing, a new burger place pops up and fills a void.I think I'll pass on this place. I'd look for other options. This place sadly does not pass the "Best Test".

I had something to do in downtown Oakland today and went to Sidewalk burger for lunch, had a Philly steak sandwich and it was very delicious.service was fast and staff were nice.would definitely try more of their food when down there again.

Good tasting food and quick service, would order again.Fresh burger made to order. Not much ambiance but is straightforward.
