Saw this place open up in the neighborhood and I've been wanting to try it and it did not disappoint. I ordered the Penang curry and the mango sticky rice and both were delicious. I asked for the Penang curry to be spicy and they added the perfect amount of spice! The mango sticky rice was perfect - not too sweet and good flavor. The service and ambiance was great! You could tell that the two owners (maybe they're husband and wife- not too sure) really cared, were excited and appreciative of business, and loved what they do. I hope others come out and support a local business! I'll definitely be coming back!

Service was good. Food wasn't.Maybe we caught them on a bad day? They do have Huge portions. Pad Thai extra hot had almost no heat, almost zero sour, zero smoke flavor. It was just a sweet noodle. Heavily Sauced.Pineapple fried rice was just wet. Neither of us cared for the wet rice. It didn't have much for flavor either.Mango sticky rice, had good rice and a good sauce. The mango itself was not good. Tough and not sweet at all.Bright spot was the veggie spring roll appetizer. Fresh and good. Sauces were good. Wish them the best of luck. It's just not for me.

Ordered laos papaya salad, pad see ew ground beef, laos iced tea, and laos sausage. The owners are the NICEST most hospitable people. I picked up my order later than expected and they remade my iced tea and pad see ew for me so it wouldn't be cold. I always order to go and havent eaten inside so cannot comment on ambiance. But the food was delicious. Highly recommend!

We were very excited to try Rose Garden Uptown, which replaced Belly on San Pablo in Oakland, and we were definitely NOT disappointed. We tried 4 dishes, and they were all exceedingly fresh and generous. Plus, the server was especially kind and pleasant - one of our party has a peanut allergy and couldn't eat the sauce that came with the Lao Fresh Spring Rolls, and the server brought a non-peanut sauce too without us even having to ask.The rolls were large, very fresh and came with an interesting sauce that was not the usual peanut sauce served by other Southeast Asian restaurants that I have tried, and was really delicious. The menu describes the sauce as "sweet and sour," but it's definitely not the Cantonese version of "sweet and sour." I'd get the rolls again.Next, we tried the Laab Seen with raw beef. One of our party couldn't eat spicy food at all, and they prepared the dish without any chili's, but the beef was tasty and very tender. The lettuce and herbs were very fresh (noticing a pattern here?), and the portion was huge. I would recommend sharing this dish, as it is a little monotonous by itself (albeit delicious). Our next dish was the Nam Kao. The rice was quite crunchy, especially compared to some other restaurants' interpretations, but the flavors were great. The peanuts came on the side so our entire party could enjoy. Finally, we had the Tum Mua, medium spicy (the dish was quite spicy. The flavors were excellent, although one person in the party thought the noodles were over-dressed. Like all the other dishes, the vegetables and herbs were very fresh. Overall, the food was tasty and the portions were generous. Given how large the plates were, it's probably best for a group to share several dishes. A few deets - they offer a cash discount. There are about 34 seats, mostly tables for 2 and 4. They don't serve alcohol (yet?). There is street parking, but the area can get busy if there is a show at the Paramount Theater that night. Very casual. Can't wait to go back!

The som tum Thai doesn't have small dried shrimp like other places. FYI. However the taste was good. I asked for a bit more sour taste. Medium spicy would be two to three Thai chilli. I ordered through app. I wish there would be sour level. Instead of asking for spicy level, it should ask how many chilli peppers you would like. Overall experience was good. Try them out. Service is very nice (delivery service).

New spot for us. I guess it is new for them also. The food was pretty tasty and the service was good. Portions were large and we ended up with a lot of leftovers. It is a cute little spot over in uptown. Clean and the staff really want to take care of the place. A bunch of sisters own it.
