This place gets 5-stars (for Alameda). Super friendly staff. I've never been thanked more for ordering than at this place. Super fast. If you place order by phone, it will definitely be ready in 10 minutes.Pho noodle soup is delicious and warm. Try the rare beef The special beef stews are hearty and flavorful. The one thing I don't like is that the eggroll, but they only come with two eggrolls for $8. The fresh rolls are a better deal in terms of volume/weight ($8.50). Love the fresh pork roll. Unique and extra savory.

Rang Dong in Alameda is the spot if you're looking for legit Vietnamese food. They used to be in Oakland, but after everything that went down I believe there was fire that caused them to find another home and made the move to Alameda. And honestly, I'm glad they did. Let's talk food. First up, Bo Tai Chan basically a Vietnamese beef carpaccio salad. Thinly sliced raw beef, Thai basil, peanuts, fish sauce, and all the flavors you want in one bite. If you like bold, fresh flavors, this is a must-try. One of my favorites, hands down. Then there's the Bun Bo Hue. If you like pho but want something with more kick, this is it. Spicy, rich broth loaded with lemongrass, thick noodles, pork, and even pork blood if you're down for the real deal. It's flavorful, got the right amount of heat, and just straight-up comforting.Pho here comes in one size. Yeah, I wish they had different options, but hey, as long as it's good, no complaints. The broth is solid, the portions are filling, and the quality is there. Prices are on the higher side, but you get what you pay for. There a lot of good Pho spots in Oakland. It's just on you to make the drive and find what your vibe is. Everyone has their fav spots and I'm not going to knock that. I've been coming here for a while, checked in plenty of times, and snapped my fair share of photos. If you're in the area, Bo Tai Chanh and Bun Bo Hue should be at the top of your list. This place does it right.

First time here after hearing about this place several times. Overall the banh mi sandwiches were decent: the bread was nice, fluffy and hotMinimal pickled veggiesMinimal pate and mayoGood amount of meatId come here again to try their pho or rice plates before I give my official YAY or NAY on how I feel about this place. I will say that the thai tea was excellent though.

Being Vietnamese, I've had excellent food in Vietnam and San Jose. I was planning on buying a home in Alameda, so I wanted to try all the Vietnamese restaurants there. I saw that many people liked Rang Dong on Reddit, so I knew I had to try it. Unfortunately, I was left disappointed. Their Vietnamese food here is very underwhelming. It is more Americanized Vietnamese food. The broth is lackluster. They barely have any toppings in the soup. If you want good Bun Rieu, go to Da Nang Quan or Pho King in Oakland. Many people like this place because of their customer service. The people who work here are very lovely and sweet.

A great Vietnamese restaurant to try out! I was washing my clothes nearby, was hungry and wanted something light, filling and tasty. Decided to give Rang Dong a try and it was so good! I'm full and don't feel heavy and food was fresh! The service was excellent and food came out super quick! I will be back!

Would totally come again! It's starting to get chilly so I really wanted some soup one Monday night, and this place really came through! They seem to specialize in bun rieu and bun bo hue which was so exciting to see bc I don't see many places promote them as much as they do with pho. Long story short, this place is delicious and home-y! Service was also quick and attentive, and the ambiance really felt like a home-y noodle shop. Although the restaurant was a little small, there was plenty of seating indoors. On a Monday night it was packed! THE FOOD:--Bun Bo Hue: 9/10 This was delicious! It was actually spicy which I loved. This particular broth had a stronger shrimp paste taste which was the only reason why I docked off a point. They gave plenty of meat as well. Noodles were also on point.--Bun Rieu: 8/10 This was also delicious! The tomato broth was warming, but again this also had a little bit too strong of a shrimp paste taste (which is a personal preference).--Shrimp & Pork Spring Rolls: 10/10 Can't go wrong with this. Peanut sauce was amazing, ingredients were fresh.Overall I would come back again!

Bun Bo hue is one of my 2 go to orders when I'm craving Vietnamese noodles. The noodles here carry the soup flavor well, and I like the variety of meats included. The soup had nice rich flavor and the spicy level was just right for someone with mild-medium tolerance. The portion size was perfect for me, but for someone with a larger appetite may be on the smaller side. Service was quick, and the interior is nice and simple.

Solid spot for Vietnamese in Alameda. It doesn't have frills, the interior feels more homey than trendy, but it's family owned and that's a plus for me. The food was solid, would come back to try other things on the menu.

I was visiting family and friends in Alameda, decided to try this restaurant because there is a parking lot and did not have to find street parking. Got the pho with rare beef and tendon. Pho was delicious, broth was flavorful. Service was good.

Quality/Quantity - Small local family run business.#4 BI CUON (2 Rolls); shredded pork rolls - Fresh and done well. My daughter would have preferred the peanut sauce (the sauce that the shrimp fresh rolls usually comes with) rather than the fish sauce we got.#20 BUN RIEU; tomato soup with pasted shrimp, pork rib, tofu & vermicelli noodles - My wife said it was just okay. I tasted it also and could have used more seasoning.# 33. BUN THIT NUONG, CHA GIO; vermicelli with grilled pork & egg rolls - Probably the best dish of the 3. And with generous portions. My daughter brought half of this home. Whereas both my wife and I finished our entrees (remember we are light eaters).#59 COM TAM SUON, CHA, TAU HU KY; broken rice with pork chop, egg cake & shrimp cake - My dish and it was good. I have had better though. The rice could have had more "seasoning," and the pork chop had some very burnt pieces to it, but this is normal for a hot grilled item. And I have had some amazing shrimp cakes in the past. Maybe a little unfair to judge, but I compared them to others...? Atmosphere - This replaced a few businesses but the decor is still left from the Little Caesars that used to be here. The tile work, counter and even hood were a blast from the past. Not sure if the AC was broken, but that small front door fan blowing back and forth was a distraction. I am glad the owner moved it slightly away, but I was still not comfortable while trying to eat.Open 6 days a week from 11am to 8:30pm, closed Thursdays.Plenty of mall parking.Service - 5 stars, both the wife and husband team were good. Very attentive.Price - $70 + tip; expensive for what we got.Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 2006. Wow, has it been that long since the LC left this plaza?
