This is such a great restaurant with great food and great service. I love how they've grown over the years. It used to be a small local place with tasty pupusas and killer sopa de res. Everyone I've taken to this restaurant has raved about it afterwards and look forward to going back again! Now, when you go, don't rush things. The pupusas are all hand made to order and it takes TLC to make them. Enjoy the process. I remember the abuela that used to make them. Rest easy... Go and enjoy. I didn't mention I'm not even Latino and we loooove going there. I love that we're one of the very few non Latinos in the restaurant. Legit.

Great local restaurant with consistently delicious Salvadoran fare. The fried yucca and chicharron appetizer is a nice shareable portion if you eat in. And please be prepared to wait a bit longer if you order pupusas, because everything is made fresh. On the pupusa front, I generally order revuelta (chicharron, beans, cheese), loroco and cheese or jalapeño and cheese. Really you can't go wrong here. Pro tip: if you don't have the time to wait, but want to pick up delicious food to go, they have a website (linked in Yelp) where you can order in advance. Heating them up in the air fryer or on the comal briefly brings them back to life! The Salvadoran chicken tamales are decent here too with a generous amount of chicken and potatoes. If you happen to be here for breakfast, the Salvadoran breakfast plate is served with cheese, sour cream, beans, fried plantain and handmade tortillas. And you have the option of casamiento for a delicious marriage of beans and rice.Definitely check them out if you have the craving for delicious Salvadoran staples!

Kept hearing that this was one of the best pupuserias in the Bay, and BOYYYYYYY they weren't playin! My boyfriend and I came here after a lil 3 mile hike and were glad to finally check out what the buzz was all about. When we entered, we told staff we were looking to order to go. They took our order swiftly and were very patient prior to that since we wanted to decide the best course of action for choosing between all the things we wanted to try. We got the following:- Aguas frescas de ensalada: I saw this and was instantly thrown back to the days my friends and I would use this as a mix or chase for parties in college. I haven't had it in years so I was super juiced to be able to indulge in one of my favorite Salvadoran drinks again. - Pork bean cheese pupusas: my boyfriend and I made sure to ask how big the pupusas were here - and they were HUGE! We loved how the cheese complemented the savory flavor of the pork and that the pupusas were nice and soft but didn't fall apart easily like other places. - Birria bomb pupusas: AMAZING. This one came as a surprise to us and we really liked how tender the birria on the inside was! This was such a pleasant treat especially after walking up incline right before heading to the restaurant and picking up a meal. The venue itself is nice, spacious, and vibrant. It can accommodate parties of all sizes and even has a little outdoor area if you want to sit outside. We loved the vibes and the food and look forward to coming back again, and it was a plus since everything was affordable too!

Decent food and service. I do wish the chips were warm and thinner, and more of a salsa option that comes with them, but the guac I ordered was very good. Their rice is quite flavorful, as it tastes like it's cooked in chicken broth. The taco options are lacking, only steak or chicken listed on menu. When I asked waitress if I could get any other type of protein, she said the only other option would be birria -- glad I asked, since it wasn't on the menu. Their margaritas were excellent. I'll be back if even just to get the margarita sampler/flight and guac.

Pupuseria Las Cabanas Restaurant may be the largest eatery serving Mexican & Salvadoran eats in the bay area. 2 rooms+ of seating with vibrant music and soccer for viewing. Uber busy evenings aided by a bustling bar.Offerings (Salvadoran): breakfast, pupusas, sides, desserts, mariscos (seafood), kid's menu, drinks. appetizers, platos tipicos (national dish), salvadoran snacks. (Mexican): burritos, tacos, sopas (soup), cocktails....Slight language issue-no ablo espanol ( i don't speak spanish) waitress no hablo ingles (doesn't speak English fluently). So i pointed to menu, ordered, got food 20ish minutes as everything cooked to order.Sips: bebidas salvadoreno tamarindo (4.75)-probably least sweet of aqua frescas. Very tart (good) with an earthy not pungent flashes. Cuts the friedness of tortilla chips.Bites:, (comped) tortilla chips with salsa.-thick house made chips very fresh, crispy crunchy. Salsa medium not chili hot. Addictive.Bites: pupusa combo (15) tamal de pollo, maiz pupusa with shredded steak, queso-pupusa so big it came with a knife. Not possible to hand hold & eat. Spread curtido ( cabbage slaw) & red mild sauce on top. Slice into small pieces, eat.-filling didn't melt ala water. Beef & cheese congealed within. Deliz...forgot to order rice flour instead of corn meal pupusa.Tamal de pollo (chicken tamale salvadoran)-tender, moist chicken within, not juicy. -prescene of corn nibbets added sweet notes.-masa texture smooth not firm like Mexican version as lard lubricated masa. -rice was fluffy, moist. Definitely freshly made. Beans had velvety smooth texture -lard?, fresh.*definite repeat. When i visit an eatery serving Mexican & Salvadoran eats, the latter is my defaultNational Hispanic Heritage Month: 9/15-10/15 2024

This place is always packed! Love how they updated it with a mural painted on the wall. The service is good. Food comes out as quickly as they can which means, for really good pupusas, you're going to have to be patient. The pupusas are always so delicious! The Salvadoran tamales are flavorful and amazing! My son decided to try the pupusas locas!!! It's HUGE!!! And it's so good. I love this place!

Came here on a weekday with 5 adults, a 3 year old and a baby. They don't take reservations, spacious, high chairs are provided. We got the papusa pizza which was huge and delicious! Highly recommend.

I've been here in person a few times and the pupusas never disappoint! I also doordashed the birria pizza pupusa and it could honestly feed 4-5 people with how big it is. The place itself is pretty big with outdoor seating and all the employees are nice as well!

So sad that I forgot to get pictures today - but I will be back, so I will get great pictures next time. This is my sisters favorite pupusa spot, and that's saying a lot because she is very selective and picky! Being my first time here, I noted that they are a Salvadoran restaurant, so I expected something a little different - and they did not disappoint. My chicken and cheese quesadilla had a little onion and cilantro garnish, the chicken was grilled and seasoned to perfection. The portion was enough that I ate what was left for dinner after a filling lunch.Happy with the great lunch, I'll be back soon for dinner and drinks.

Best pupusas I've had in the Bay so far. My friend and I checked this place out after thrifting around Hayward and we got a bunch of different pupusas although the plates that I saw other people ordering looked good too. In addition to the complimentary basket of salsa/chips, we got revueltas, queso y loroco, and queso y alote, all of which were delicious, huge, and stuffed to the brim with filling. This is definitely the place to go if you prioritize the filling and love cheese as they are extremely generous. As a lactose intolerant, I was pleasantly surprised that the cheese did not bother me at all unlike the other pupusa places I frequent. Their curtido is also the best I've had with the perfect amount of vinegar, heat, and salt. I am not big on salsa but my friend doused his pupusas in it and loved it. The waitress gave us several samples of their agua fresca and the horchata (very woody) and was really nice in general. I will definitely come back when I'm in the area as the food is high quality and highly affordable.
