First time eating pupusa and loving it! Great host and super chill Clean restaurant and good service. Why would you eat at Taco Bell when you can support local business and get a pupusa loaded with cheese and chicken, cabbage salad and steel flatware for under $5. Healthier and nutritious !!!

Great service. The steak and onion dish was seasoned perfectly. I even enjoyed the refried black beans, which I usually don't enjoy. The ric was nice too, but my favorite was the Pupusa Revuelta and the hot suce accompaniment. The curtido was juat ok.Overall I belive the price was a niice deal. I got a lot of food for $17 (Bistec Encebollado) and $3 for the pupusa is in line wth any other restaurant. Here's What I Think...I'll come back to try one of their chicken dishes and grab another Pupusa.

Pupuseria El Girasol 2 opened recently in Subway's space. this location is a lot bigger than their San Lorenzo location. limited seating inside. offerings: plates, sopas, antojitos, pupusas, drinks. some entrees are similiar to ones in Mexican menus. eats: menudo (tripe soup) (12.49)-bigger bowl than Mexican eateries. has onion, cilantro garnishing. more tripe pieces, thinner broth-not spicy, has pupusa textured breads not corn tortillas. fulfilling, great value! pupusa revuelta (2.50)-has a lot of cheese, loroco, beans, etc. plenty of cortido (cabbage) slaw. foods made to order. forgot there was salvadorean tamales and enchiladas on menu too. lots of parking available in lot.note: if blue & white El Salvador flag is seen, skip the Mexican entrees, go for the El Salvadoran menu unless u want to be adventurous.

The person who took my order on the phone was nice enough. They charged me more for extra loroco which is already a good portion, but he could have suggested their portion was big. When I walked in I was not greeted, I stood there awkwardly until the man behind the register decided to give me his attention. All I needed to do was pay so it made my quick stop unnecessarily longer. The restaurant itself is a decent space for a quick bite. The pupusas themselves were nothing extraordinary. The meat and cheese ratio was rather small and I didn't find them juicy. I'm still on the hunt for a great pupusas near Hayward.

Pupuseria El Girasol #2 takes over the old Subway location in Union City. This second location (the first in San Lorenzo) was under construction for a couple of months. Suddenly, it opened today. I decided to check it out.The interior looks like the old Subway with a few paintings added. I was told the entire menu wasn't available today -- it was their first day -- but that everything would be available by Friday.I decided to sample their Pupusas, specifically the Ayore con Queso (Zucchini with Cheese) plus a Jamaica (Hibiscus Iced Tea). The staff were friendly and engaging as I ordered and took a seat.Soon my food and drink were brought to my table. The Pupusas were tasty, and the Jamaica was refreshing. I will be back to sample their plates

These people writing these reviews clearly never had a decent pupusa in their life. This places curtido has absolutely no flavor it's literally just cabbage, the Mexican place in Newark makes better curtido & I thought theirs was bland. Do not waste your time & money here. And idk if it's Salvadoran or what but their horchata tastes so disgusting like burnt cinnamon and the strawberry soda literally tastes like cough medicine

Popusas were really good! We were there around 9:30 am to drop off a car for servicing nearby and wanted to get some coffee while waiting for our ride. We got their hot chocolate, and coffee. The beverages were decent. And we got one pupusa to try to compare to our favorite spot in San José. This was a pleasant surprise, and we will likely return to try more things.
