My family and I had a delicious lunch here! We're not familiar with Portuguese food so we ordered what looked good. We started with the cheese bread, flamed chouriço, and blood sausage. The cheese bread was so cheese and had a nice bounce in texture. The choiriço was literally served in flames and had a really nice smoky texture. The blood sausage was absolutely delicious! It was savory with a crisp edges. That was a highlight from that round. The next round of plates included sautéed veggies, shrimp bread porridge, and duck rice. The duck rice was labeled as a popular choice and I can see why. It is rich with duck fat and the rice crisped up really well in its cast iron skillet. I definitely recommend it. And don't sleep on the veggies! They were also charred nicely and the balsamic reduction gave it a nice sweetness, balanced with acidity. The shrimp bread porridge was full of shrimp and chucks of soft bread that soaked up the slightly garlicky sauce really well. Other dishes include the mussels and the cod casserole. I don't like mussels so I can't comment on that. The cod was interesting. I've never had a fish like that before and the only reason I wanted to try it was because Trader Joe's has a version of it. I found it to be salty for my taste, but perhaps that's how it should be. My dad commented that the cod and the shrimp would've worked well with a glass of wine. But he was driving and I didn't want alcohol, so that's something we missed out on.We didn't get dessert because we went to their pastry store in downtown San Jose to get tarts and malasadas. But the tarts are available here. Service was fantastic! They explained the menu and the food came out at a good pace. And it's really well decorated inside! Lunch is casual so you don't need to dress up, but do look presentable. The decor has more of a fine dining vibe, and I guess that may be because it turns into Adego, a Michelin rated restaurant, in the evening. Parking is tricky. There is a narrow alley that you can easily miss where there's a few spots in the back. I read reviews that there's a lot across the street but I didn't see anything. Make time to find parking. I would really like to come back here to try more dishes.

Saw this place on another social media site and did some research. It gets a little complicated as there are a couple of Petiscos in San Jose, but I saw a Michelin rating, so I had to track this place down.We ended up at the Alum Rock Ave. location which ended up being a good choice. The restaurant had a nice ambiance, and our server gave a nice history of the restaurant. Please make sure to ask about parking! They have two lots, so you don't have to park on the street. We happened to be there during Restaurant Week, so we got to try a few of their dishes. EVERYTHING was delicious! The one thing we had to try was the Pastel de Nata. Deeeelish!Of course, I had to end the meal with a glass of port since it is a Portuguese restaurant. This is a classy restaurant with great service and excellent food. The Michelin rating is well-deserved, and I look forward to dining here again.

I love Portuguese cuisine and was excited to find this Michelin Bib Gourmand restaurant in East San Jose (Little Portugal).Parking is conveniently located at the back of the restaurant through an alley beside the resto. Ambiance is impressively chic and upscale not anything you'd suspect from the outside. Server took her time to explain how the menu works. Food serving is small so we approximated 2 dishes per person. We selected mostly restaurant favorites as follows:*Shrimp in a garlic sauce $18: reminds me of scampi but has more wine rather than butter. This is delicious. Bread is recommended to sop up the sauce. *Octopus, oven roasted in olive oil $23: winner of the night! Tentacles are roasted til a bit crispy. *Codfish (Bacalhau com Natas) $19: flakes of bacalhau fish in a cream sauce. I thought fish will be sparse but I tasted much of it. *Seafood rice $39: love love love this dish. It's their version of Paella but more saucy. There's chunks of scallop, shrimp and lobster.*Beef tongue in tomato sauce $18: there is a certain smell to the dish that I couldn't determine what. It's a bit offensive for me. *Pork & Clams $19: initially I cannot find the marriage of meat and seafood in this dish. It took a few bites to appreciate the tasteNot quite the Michelin I expected...sadly.

This is an amazing must try Portuguese restaurant in San Jose. This used to be the Michelin star rated Adega. It's in the same space with the same chef just a new more casual menu. No table cloths but great fine dining level service and food. Petiscos are basically Portuguese tapas or small plates. We tried several dishes and enjoyed each one after the other. The flavors were so satisfying and delicious! My top recommendations are the clams and the shrimp. The clam broth is slightly salty and a little acidic. It was so good that I could drink it like a soup! The shrimp were plump and the garlicky sauce was perfect to dip some bread in. Lastly, you must finish with the Pastel de Nata, the Portuguese egg tart. These have a delightful flaky crust and creamy egg filling. Pro tip: Call ahead for directions to the restaurant parking. There's a small lot behind the restaurant but there's another larger one across the street.

Sent here 1st time with my hubby before a comedy show. Here's my list of complaints: service was painfully slow; 2 waiters attended to us & confusion was the standard; wrong entree entered x3!!; bar even slower to the point you might not get that 2nd drink unless you have 25-30 minutes to wait; food was mediocre & nothing was timed (just came out as prepared such that my side of veggies for my filet dinner arrived with appetizers & were cold by the time entree finally arrived); nearly cancelled my filet because we waited SO long & my hubs had finished eating. Tables are tight-packed which is not uncommon in the Bay Area, but acoustics were awful so I heard our neighbor diners' convo over my date. I was excited to try this place & usually love Portuguese cuisine, but the food was simply not very good. Okay, that's my take.

Totally baffled by good ratings. Tried several dishes everyone as disappointing as last. Salty to a degree that was shocking. Service and ambiance was good but the food was awful.

The food and service was amazing! Music was Portuguese playing and it was such a vibe. The cod dish was not like the traditional, but everything else was very traditional. The claims and pork needed to cook the wine longer, we still tasted it. But it was a nice treat and felt like we were back in pico.

Outstanding food and service! We ordered the Cheese bread, beans, sautéed vegetables, codfish cakes, shrimp fritters, filet, and beef tongue. For dessert, we ordered the bread pudding and orange tart. It was the perfect amount of food for the 5 of us. Everything was beautifully balanced and the flavors were robust yet refined. We needed some plain rice or bread to scoop up the remaining sauces from the beef and shrimp. Next time, for sure!!

Food - spectacular. Beef tongue in tomato sauce was the best dish. Very tasty and beef tongue was an excellent bite size. The beef tongue also had a super moist interior. Should have ordered some bread to finish the tomato sauce.. Blood sausage was tasty and had nice texture. The pieces appeared deep fried, so the outside was a bit crispy. The interior was not too dry.. Lobster Bisque had the perfect consistency and very good flavor. There were also a good amount of lobster pieces. Nice.. Clams in wine & lemon juice was very good. The wine and lemon flavors were very pronounced. Should have ordered some bread to soak up the remaining juices.. Vegetables, sautéed was simple yet delicious. The mix of vegetables was perfect. It was nice and colorful. The balsamic vinegar topping was a pleasant surprise.. Octopus, oven roasted in olive oil did not disappoint. It was very tender and the bed of greens was nice. Pastel de Nata - very pleasant egg tartDrink - nice. The Specialty Cocktails were interesting and nice.. Seemed a bit pricey though.Service - super. Very knowledgeable.. Very attentive.Ambiance - very nice. Lighting was just right.. Noise level was just right as there was at least one table gap between diners (at least there should have been)Parking - should make it more apparent from the front that there is parking in the back upon going down the alleyway
