Haven't been to this restaurant for over 10 years, because we had bad experiences in the past, one of them was "we always missed the shrimp dumplings" because the dim sum cart never came to our table and when it came, they sold out!Today, my Papa and I were in here, decided to give it a try.First thr host took us to a Teo person table tucked in a tiny corner was hard to see the dim sum cart or would miss them, so she suggested the tea lounge, which was much better and nicer. The dim sum we had, included a few usual ones (total 8 different kinds) were good, nothing disappointed, were as expected, but mostly their flavors were on the lighter side, except the shrimp dumplings were very good. Also they had the old fashion sausage rolls.Service was quite good, the manager checked on our order sheet frequently to ensure our dim sum arrived promptly, and she changed our plates. Our overall experience was good.Peony you have impressed me today, I shall visit again.

Date: 2/19/2025. Time: 8:15 PM 63° CoolI'm at the OACC for a band rehearsal. I am hungry, so I decided to get something to go from Peony Seafood Restaurant. I haven't been to this restaurant in ages, like about 30 years ago for a wedding banquet. They have always been pricey.I can only speculate that the restaurant is expensive due to the ambiance and decor. The interior is beautiful. The cuisine is not ordinary typical Chinese food such as chow mein, pork fried rice, sweet 'n sour pork, etc. After perusing the menu, I decided to have a tofu dish filled with baby shrimp, diced chicken, slivered shiitake mushrooms, and zucchini. It was delicious and flavorful. However, the price was $25.56 (tax included). Ai yah...gum gwai. Expensive! The waitress forgot to give me a pair chopsticks for my dinner. I had to go next door to Sakura Bistro and ask the nice employee to give me chopsticks. Return trips? Might, then might not. Too bad Yung Kee was closed. I would've preferred the shrimp with scrambled eggs at the cost of $15.

I came here with a group of friends today for dim sum and we LOVED our experience. Everything was delicious! We had several dishes- the shrimp dumplings, siu mai, sticky rice in lotus leaf, BBQ pork bun, piggy custard buns (so cute!), stir-fried noodles with soy sauce, and garlic string beans, and more. Everything was flavorful and fresh, and I really did enjoy every single thing we ordered. This is a large restaurant, but I'd recommend making a reservation because it was very busy! There is a parking garage downstairs and a few other garages in the area. The staff members were also very nice and came around often to see how we were doing and take away empty plates. I wish I lived closer to Oakland so that I could come here more often! I can't wait for my next visit to Peony Seafood Restaurant!

Great place to eat at! The food was very yummy- I liked how savory and crispy the duck in steamed buns were. The egg tarts are also very good! The wait may be a while - so make sure to come in early if you can. We waited for 45 min for our table for Saturday lunch!

We had a feast and the whole thing took a little over an hour. We had reservations, which not every restaurant in that area has, and were seated as a party of 6 right away. The restaurant is large with plenty of seating space. Very comfortable. The food was good, I think their strengths play to sweetness (the custard cream buns and coconut rabbits were so cute!) but the selection of savory dishes was well done too. I was particularly struck by the Vinegary Edible Fungus. I usually don't enjoy fungus but this dish was very interesting. I liked the taste of the vinegar with the fungus. I think the standout for me was the Peking Duck with Steamed Buns, but there is so much this menu has to offer. The service was great too. They refilled my water multiple times, the servers offered us trays of food to add to our meal many times, and they were helpful overall. Some of the best, most authentic dim sum in the area. Make it one of your regular monthly stops. You won't regret it. Don't forget to try the custard piggies.
