Peg and Lee's Bayou Cuisine is located in San Leandro.This review is for their stand at the Newark Farmers Market. I spotted it as I was perusing the Market.The staff were friendly and engaging as I studied the menu menu. I decided on the BBQ Chicken (Legs).The food was ready in no time. The Plate comes with a Roll, Potato Salad, and Cajun Rice. The food was delicious and hearty. I was full.I'll definitely be back to try out the Ribs and Fried Catfish.

Oh yes this hits the spot. Best bbq I have had in a long time and the gumbo was just right on a cold night! I look forward to running into them again or having them cater an even soon!

Had the ribs plate. Ribs were still tender and the sauce was good. Loved the potato salad. I'd come here again to try their baked beans and other meats.

My friends and I went to First Friday in Oakland and this was the only vendor that accepted card. So we chose to eat here and I am so glad we did. It took about half an hour in line just to reach the counter but we made it right before the cut off time at 9:00 pm. Anyways, I ordered the small Gumbo and the BBQ Rib Plate with beans, cajun rice, and a dinner roll. The gumbo was the best gumbo I have ever tasted. I've had a lot of gumbo, and this one takes the top. It has a little kick to it and they put 1/4th of a crab in there. I was enjoying the gumbo so much, I forgot I have ordered the rib plate. I almost didn't order this because I didn't want to get my hands dirty at an event where there are no tables, but I'm glad I ignored my original thought. These were sooooo good. The canjun rice was on point, the beans were bomb, and the roll was, well, store bought. But that didn't matter. The other 3 components were freaking amazing. The BBQ sauce wasn't overpowering, the ribs were cooked perfectly, and the rice was just amazing. I don't know what they put in this rice, but it was crack. This whole plate gave me an orgasm. And the gumbo was another one. After I finished everything, yes everything (5 ribs, rice, beans, bread roll, 16 oz gumbo, and a Dr Pepper), I had no way to clean my face. BUT, these people are so freaking awesome, they put out a little portable sink with soap where you can pump up the water to wash your hands. This made the experience even better! I had to take their business card because I was told that they're in the San Leandro farmers market on a couple weekends and I don't want to miss it! My mouth is still watering just writing this review because I want more!

Peg & Lee's Bayou Cuisine is simply the best! I first tried them just today. I ordered a Rib plate and I got my wife the fish and chips. For starters the sides for my rib plate were so on point! I had the potato salad and baked beans. Probably the best baked beans I have ever had. The potato salad was so tasty but didnt leave me feeling bloated like I usually feel after eating potato salad. Now for the ribs. Hands down probably the best baby back pork ribs I have ever had in northern California. Top 2 in the state for sure! And who would have thought it's right near my house! It was cooked to perfection. It was so tender and was coming right off the bones. I should have bought more!Now for my wifes plate, the fish and chips. It was served with some French fries and they were not shy with the fries. They gave us alot. Plus, it was seasoned so good that I could eat those fries by themselves for a meal. I think it was cajun style seasoning. And the fish was off the hook! No fishing pun intended lol. It was so crispy on the outside and so soft in the inside. Perfect temp, seasoned like we were royalty or something. So freaking good.I wish I could give 10 stars! Keep up the good work!!!!!

Went to this stand at the Newark Farmer's Market a few weeks ago, and I'm still thinking about the fried fish tray I had. Such good value for your money! They fill up the ToGo box with tons of dirty rice! And the fish... perfectly seasoned and it was the perfect combination of crispy on the outside and soft and tender on the inside. The best part was that there was perfect amount of breading on the fish too. The potato salad was so bomb as well. I kept trying to finish the sides, even though I was extremely stuffed. Their food is authentic and definitely a must try!!

My mom and I visited the Newark Farmers Market @Newpark Mall today. We tried the fried Catfish and an order of Chicken Wing. It was delicious. I would definitely have this again. Yum yum yum. Thank you.

Great tasting. My family really like the food I love the ribs next time I'll try the sausage sandwich

The orange juice is really really sweet and really good and I like your food. I like the kids meal and grandma and Papa likes their food too and we like it very much and that was really good food and we liked it and liked it in the drinks is really good orange juice is good. The other orange is good too in the Pepsi. It's really good too. Maybe then we have a very like it. We get a thumbs up not thumbs down. We like it very, very, very very a lot and we give you a happy. we like a very, very, very much this is this is a lot of food. We like it very much now because I like it very often a lot a lot five stars.
