Do I eat noodles before trying on clothes?...Do I eat noodles before trying on clothes?...I DO eat noodles before trying on clothes! I got to the mall pretty late and was starving. The usual fried options in the food court weren't looking too appealing and I was looking for a smallish snack. I've noticed Ox 9 around town before but never had the chance to try. A big ole bowl of soup noodles seemed like it would bump me up a shirt size so I opted for the Chili Oil Dry Wide Noodles. I don't think you are going to get a dish with fresher tasting veggies in the food court. The bok choy was perfectly cooked, not too limp, not too raw. The rest of the veggies reminded me of a bibimbap - carrots, cucumbers, bean sprouts, and green onions. The bowl of noodles seemed small at first, but the noodles at the bottom are a generous portion. They have a really great "qq" bounce to them. All that being said... cancel your meetings, reschedule your dates, take a shower and brush your teeth. I ate SO much garlic and loved every moment of it. Thank goodness I bought the two shirts I ended up trying on. Last side note, I wish they had "dine in" bowls. I could've sworn I even saw a sign to tell them if you are dining in. I couldn't imagine getting a bowl of scalding hot soup in these little plastic containers, but I understand it's a mall food court.

Lanzhou hand-pulled noodles is definitely one of the "up and coming" food that keeps popping up everywhere! Ox 9 is one of the first places we've tried and surprisingly it's in the Valley Fair food court. I'm kind of glad that there's one more "authentic" Asian food option and am even more glad that the food is decent! The only gripe I have is how they serve the food in disposable/to-go containers - a bit different than the "sit down" experience so it's something that you'll have to get used to.My husband I just happened to be at Valley Fair with a few friends (sans kids) one day and we decided to give this place a try. We ordered:- Lanzhou hand pulled noodles- Braised beef stew noodle soup- Garlic cucumber saladEverything was delicious (except the container gripe I mentioned above)! There are other Ox 9 locations in the Bay, so I would definitely try them as well for the "dine in/sit down" experience!

So the good .. the food itself was amazing! I liked observing the gentleman creating the hand pulled noodles as he was stretching and swirling the large dough around. The calamari was delicious and paired nicely with the sweet and savory dipping sauce. The noodles were definitely fresh even the texture biting into them was so soft and tender. The bad .. nothing against the establishment but as I was sitting in the mall court area eating .. I saw a cockroach run across the table I was eating at ! I was grossed out and left . I would go into the actual restaurant next time and not the mall to have the full experience.

I wanted to try this spot in the food court. This happens to replace the ramen shop I used to go to. The food is average here. The meat is tender, but the noodles are too bland and chewy. I honestly should have gotten the thinner ones. You can basically choose what type of noodles you want. The soup is alright. Overall, the noodles take up most of the meal, which isn't a good sign. The old ramen shop is much better in my opinion. Perhaps, I should have go to another place to eat in the food court or other restaurants in the mall.

We were in the mall looking for food and saw a guy in the back actually pulling and making noodles, so we had to try them out. The menu had offered different hand pulled noodles either as a soup or dry dish. You can choose your noodle thickness and spiciness. We got the Lanzhou hand pulled noodle soup and soybean paste noodles. I preferred the soybean paste noodles. The soup was refreshing but had a little too much cilantro for my taste. The noodles themselves did taste fresh and chewy. Food came out fairly fast and the staff were nice and helpful. Overall a good option and would get them again.

3.5 stars. This place was delicious. Tried them on a whim while I was in the mall and feeling pretty hungry. Only one person was ahead of me in line, so it wasn't too long of a wait for food. Went with the chili oil dry noodles and was not disappointed. The noodles had a great chew, not mushy or overcooked, and the chili oil had a great flavor. Decent amount of bok choy with some bean sprouts and shredded carrots. My only complaint -- and the reason for the lower score -- is that the noodles became a big ball, all stuck together, towards the bottom of the bowl. With chopsticks, this was a nearly impossible task to unravel. With a fork it became easier thanks to the sharp prongs being able to rip things apart, but then the noodles became shredded pieces. The very bottom of the bowl was too oily for the noodles to remain appetizing and was a less enjoyable experience than the top and middle of the bowl, which was so good. This would've been a near-perfect meal otherwise. Recommend the staff figure out how to prevent the noodles from balling up like that, and use a little less chili oil so it doesn't pool at the bottom of the bowl. The flavors are too good and the noodles too well made to not do right by them in preparation.

The Michelin mention that was on display caught my eye. I was wary since a lot of dishes had "spicy" or "chili" in the name and ended up getting popcorn chicken noodles which was unique and was pretty good.

We were at the mall looking for a convenient meal, and ended up choosing Ox 9! This was my first time trying their food. They have a few other locations in and around the Bay Area, so they seemed like a reputable choice to eat from.My BF and I decided to order the chili oil noodles to share. As we were eating it, it didn't taste spicy at all... we thought this was odd, but it tasted decent anyways so we continued eating and asked for chili oil on the side to add some spice. I realized recently after looking at photos of their dishes / just before writing this review that we ended up getting the incorrect order lol. Looks like we were given the soybean paste noodles?Regardless, the noodles we got were okay. The noodles were mushy and congealed, and the soybean paste was very mild; it felt like it was missing something. For almost $15 after tax, I'd definitely just opt for a smaller mall snack in the future!

A great find if you are craving hand pulled noodles and are in Valley Fair. The traditional beef noodle soup was tasty especially with the wide cut noodles. The bean sauce noodles were perfect for hot weather. Servings were a good size so we definitely had to ask for to go containers. We were surprised and felt lucky to find this at the food court!

I was killing time in Valley Fair and have always heard about Ox 9 Lanzhou Handpulled Noodles and loved they had a location in a mall food-court! I ordered the Lanzhou Handpulled Noodles Soup with the medium round noodles. The noodles and meat both tasted very fresh, and I loved adding the chili oil to the broth. There weren't that many people in line when I went, so my food came out very fast. I wish my area had malls with food courts as good as Valley Fair!
