Ox 9 is something I always come back to. The broth is so clear and taste so comforting. The price is always good and the taste is even better. The noodles were bouncy and the soup was soo flavorful. I loved every bite of it and always come back for more. My boyfriend loves coming here for the thick hand pulled noodles as this is one of the places that has such variety. The cucumber salad is something that I love to try at every restaurant if they have it. Although it wasn't spicy, the garlic packed a punch and was something delicious and refreshing.

Came here last Saturday around 6:30pm to celebrate Lunar new year with my parents, party of 4. I myself got the braised beef stew $15) and an order of spicy wontons. We also got a pork sandwich to share ( on accident, since on the menu the description sounded really similar to another pork bun set of 4 that we were actually trying to order) - so I would recommend you check the mobile order carefully before pressing ORDER. I got Large flat noodles because I feel like that's the most worth it noodle to get at places like these.Pros:- Lots of options, and you can modify your order's noodle size - Overall, very decent portions, I ended up just eating the rest of it for lunch the next day- Spicy wontons were delicious- Good amount of veggies in the noodle soup- Props to all the service staff - I witnessed them deal with a huge party that was kind of difficult - the service staff were running around doing their best accommodating them- Easy mobile order - just be careful because some order descriptions look similar and it's really easy to add the wrong thing accidentally. Thankfully everything was really delicious so I don't mind- Easy parking lot - it can look weird because there's green painted spots but they're not all actually 15 min spots Cons:- I would say this isn't great for parties of bigger than 4, there's some bigger tables but they were all already filled when we got there - I wish there were more non-spicy options other than the lamb soupWould not mind coming back here, but I think we do prefer One Piece Lamien in Fremont

It seems opening modern Chinese fast-casual spots featuring region-specific specialties is all the rage these days here in the bay. Came for a quick bowl of noodles with a couple of friends on a Sunday night an hour before closing. Ambiance is typical of the genre and ordering is done through a tableside QR code - our food came out within minutes. Their spicy ground pork dry noodles with the large flat noodles were mouthwatering, complete with that chewy fresh-cut noodle taste, tingly spice, and flavorful sauce. My friends enjoyed their Lanzhou thin round noodle soup and chili oil noodle dishes. I'll have to come back to try a soup-based option on a rainy day.Waitstaff asked us to leave at 5 minutes to closing and got to their cars before we did, which we had a little chuckle about. Guess everyone needs a head start on beating the Monday morning blues.

I've been to the San Mateo location before but it was my first time at the Fremont one. I remember being happy with my meal last time, and was hoping it'd be the same. For the most part, everything was great and the food had plenty of flavor and the noodles had great texture. I find that the knife cut noodles are a bit too thick and slippery for disposable chopsticks though, and it was quite difficult to pick up, which took away from the experience a bit. But sadly, the worst part was finding a hair halfway through my bowl. Hopefully just a one time thing, because I do like this noodle chain.

Taste did not really blew me away, actually a little bland. Noodle's texture is good. Place is nicely decorated. Good service.

It had been a while since we have been here, but it was getting late and I wanted something I could rely on. This place is always very consistent. Handcrafted noodles made fresh on the premises pretty much our standby the spicy wontons and the vegetable chow mein. Service is very quick. It was ready in 10 minutes for pick up.

Got the Lanzhou noodle soup. Would've liked more beef flavor in the broth and less flour taste in the noodles. The small pork buns were tasty and the perfect size for my toddler's tiny hands. We had lamb skewers two dinners in a row and felt the last place we went to had a better fat to meat ratio. The pork sandwich (forget the exact translation) was stringy. Again, missing that fat to meat ratio.Loved the fermented rice dessert at the end. Soothed our bellies after a big meal.We are pickier than most. SO is from China. Despite giving Ox 9 only 3 stars, we recognize not many places serve noodle soup + lamb skewers and would return just for that classic combo.

5 stars is only for the cucumber with garlic sauce appetizer. This is still one of the best one I've tried so far. Came here during lunch time on a weekend and there was barely anyone inside. Ordered via QR code so there wasn't much staff interaction. The Lanzhou Handpulled Noodle soup was good but the noodle was disappointing... overcooked and not chewy. I tried the Beef Noodles with Chinese Pickled version and preferred it. It wasn't too sour and it was a bit more salty which I preferred. The only thing was their handpulled noodles wasn't that great. However, I wouldn't mind coming back just for the cucumber with garlic sauce. Note that there's a marinated cucumber salad as well but haven't tried that one.

I used to drive to the location in Milpitas, but when I found out that they opened another location in Fremont (which is only a 10 min drive for me) I was super excited! Not only is this the perfect remedy for when you're under the weather, but it's seriously some of the best hand pulled noodle soup you can get in the Bay!The restaurant was recently renovated with a new interior and is super clean. I like how there is a glass window where you can see the chefs stretching the noodles by hand which is cool. Another huge plus is that you can choose the noodle thickness and the shape (round or flat) making it customized to your liking.I've tried the Lanzhou hand pulled noodles, stewed pork ribs, and the braised beef stew but my favorite is the braised beef stew because the flavor of the broth is more concentrated which I love. I also prefer small round noodles because it just feels like there is more of it and every bite has the perfect amount of bounce and chew. The closest competitor is likely One Piece Lamian since they also offer hand pulled noodles at about the same price (roughly $14-15) but after tasting both I prefer Ox9 because I like the taste of their broth and the texture of the noodles a little better. The next time I come back I'll have to try their appetizers and dry/fried noodle dishes.
