I'm bumping up this review. This spot is that locals, "greasy" spoon serving up huge portions of brunch. While I haven't tried everything, our most recent visit with kids in tow provided friendly, quick service, large, stick to your bones portions and tasty food. While maybe not "bougie", it was a great spot in an area lacking a ton of options. To note: We arrived about 1:30, 30 minutes or so before closing time, and there was no line, and they quickly served us. A few people came in even closer to closing time and were still seated. My son's kids breakfast at $10 included a mickey mouse pancake, 2 strips of bacon (wish that was crispier) and an egg. He of course ordered a hot chocolate that came with a tower of whipped cream. He was living the good life. My Colorado omelet at $16 was enough for two (and my husband and I did share it). Huge omelet with potatoes and a piece of toast. It was delicious with the only critique: the toast was not the highest quality bread, but all good. (I would have also loved some fruit as pictured in photos, but not this time)The menu has a little something for everyone, the place is a diner style with a bunch of tables, booths and a long counter. I'd like to add, they have huge windows, letting the natural sunlight pour in. It's really cozy.100% a gem in an area that is losing businesses left and right. This is a staple, it's kid friendly and while I don't do brunch often, I'd recommend this place to anyone needing to cure a hangover, fill up a belly or just enjoy some eating out.

I've been to Oakland Grill a handful of times over the years. The food has never impressed me, but it was good meal and the portions were generous. If one of my friends suggested it for brunch, I wouldn't have a problem eating here. I came over the weekend after hiking with some friends and I likely won't spend my money here again. I had the veggie benedict and it hardly had any hollandaise sauce. The English muffin underneath tasted stale and was hard to cut. It filled me up after our hike, but it wasn't anything to write home about. I know food and labor costs are up for business, but if I'm paying more for the same meal, it should at least be served hot and fresh.

Service was very fast and I was able to get seated quickly for Weekend brunch. Although the potatoes were softer than I'd prefer, the servings were large and I'd always prefer to leave full than hungry for more! The interior feels very simple and old school. I'd recommend if you're in the area, but nothing was out of the ordinary.

I've came in once or twice before and the food is always good and service is fast. This place is usually very busy and only serves breakfast and lunch. The restaurant itself is very casual and located right in the midst of the produce market in Oakland. After not being here for a while (only because it's a little out of the way for me) I can tell you that the food and service is still constant. A must return spot when in the area.

Returned for lunch on a Tuesday at noon. Not crowded and seated right away. Ordered Mushroom Burger and Oakland Grill burger. Otherwise we're excellent. Again large portions. Left satisfied. Great place for breakfast or lunch. Will return and can definitely recommend others try Oakland Grill.

Quite possibly THE best breakfast burrito in the east bay.... Not trying to start fights but just saying! Love that there are outdoor seating options for those who come to dine with their dogs. Sometimes they forget about you and you have to wait a while for your coffee to be refilled if you're outside but they always come around eventually! Great food! Large portions! Come hungry - roll your way home

Food was a C+, service was really slow and took a while to take our order. You're better off going to IHOP or anything else near you. Employees are nice but not attentive as other places are.

Had to run into Oakland for a few hours, decided to stop for breakfast at this recommended establishment, the Oakland Grill. A few blocks from Jack London Square, the Oakland Grill is right in the middle of the downtown industrial food markets. The service was mid, considering there were only two people in there besides me. I asked for a glass of water two times, got up and went to the counter after 20 minutes to ask for a glass of water and still didn't receive it. It wasn't until my food came and I asked once again for a glass of water and it finally came. 30 minutes later. The food was mid. The scrambled eggs didn't have any flavor, but they were cooked perfectly. The potatoes were good, had a touch crema that was also good. The sausage patties were not homemade, but they were ok. The ambiance of the restaurant was old school, probably a popular place way back in the days. Unfortunately, this place fell short on customer service satisfaction and food followed behind.

This was an unexpected grill in middle of area. Found it on google when I needed real breakfast. The food was great with large serving. The service was perfect. Friendly and considerate. Definitely somewhere I'm returning to. Wish I had thought to take a picture before I dived into food.
