I had the Salvadorean bistec plate and the chicken, cheese, and vegetables pupusa and a cheese and spinach pupusa. The pupusas were absolutely phenomenal. The cheese pulls and even the amount of cheese loaded in the pupusa made me still think about the pupusas to this day. The chicken and cheese one was delicious. The chicken was packed and loaded within a pocket of oozy, gooey, deliciousness. The cheese and spinach pupusa was decent, but it didn't leave any lasting impressions. The bistec plate was good as well. The tomato sauce was subtle in flavor and really toned down the savory-ness of the seasoning of the steak. The beans are always good and the rice wasn't the typical orange/yellow rice that I'm used to whenever I order steak plates. Overall, I'm for sure coming back for the pupusas!

Nostalgia Salvadorena opened in Mi Mercado Latino's vacated space. spacious dining area surrounded by random pics of food and nature. music blared from a boombox near the door. was seated soon upon entry. was told someone would take order. bell on table to signal for service. each person on floor had a specific duty and each checked in on me. some how some one forget their duty, the others didn't notice. offerings: appetizers, chicken, seafood, beef, sides, lunch specials, soups, salads, specials, drinks, desserts, pupusacomped fried tortilla chips and salsa. -both above average tasty and salty. warmed commercial chips?eats: lunch special #10 (17.95) 2 pupusas and tropical salad-spinach & cheese pupusa, zucchini & cheese pupusa. big pieces.alike all pupusa, the veggies melted, flavors blended into dough. cheese more abundant and robust than other pupusas.-curtido (fermented cabbage) forgotten? didn't mention it since it wasn't on menu. when curtido appeared on other tables, I told the "server" who came by re: missing curtido. saw him discuss it with all the other servers. nothing was said or done afterwards.tropical salad-6 pieces of previously grilled shrimp was atop salad. It was dry, cold, bland. -mango, romaine lettuce, pineapple, cheese were all fresh. since salad was missing dressing, I poured salsa into it. salad unaffected.drink; Jamaica (3.99)-nice balance of hibiscus flavor, sugar, not overly sweet3.5 stars inconsistent service, food quality varied from good to poor. doubtful repeat. menu is difficult to comprehend. needs pics....*invoice #146887279 paid at cashier's station, not left on table.

Just stick with the pupusas. I get that they remodeled the place, which used to be a market, but as one reviewer said, they need to consider the location. I ordered the pollo encebollado and I was foolishly expecting a half chicken, but all I got was a tiny chicken leg. It came with a salad, two tortillas and some slices of orange. The chicken was moist, but super bland. Not a hint of sauce, just some onions on top. The salad was the biggest thing on the table. To be fair, I did have the pupusas revueltas before and they were awesome. I don't know how long they will realistically make it, with their high prices and small portions.

New Salvadorian restaurant in Hayward! Plenty of parking but it can get full on the weekends. The host was friendly and answered my questions. The food is cooked to order. I opted to take home. The restaurant was clean and has a home style vibe. The plants are beautiful and I definitely think adding more would make it even more welcoming. The food I ordered were 2 pupusas, 2 Jarritos sodas and 1 bread (quesadilla) Overall the food was good and flavorful. The salsa for the pupusas was not spicy at all. I usually like a little more spice. The actual pupusas were tasty but I think they needed more cheese. I ordered the "revueltas" which means mixed. There was not much cheese mixed in. Other reviews mentioned theirs had a lot of cheese so it may have just been the type I ordered. Overall I'm excited that we have a new restaurant option in this vacant spot and I'll definitely be trying more of their dishes.

Yum!! Hot, fresh, and tasty quick service, and the inside is big for large parties and they also have a full bar. Tried a few different pupusas and they're all great, especially paired with the fresh pickled veggies/sauce. Will definitely return.

We had 3 pupusas between the two of us and believe me, that was enough food. While I'm no Salvadoran officianado, I dare say that was some darn good food. One was pork, another cheese+jalapenos and the third was a combo of pork and cheese+jalapenos. They were all excellent but glad we got to try the pork on its own and not smothered with cheese cause the flavor was outstanding. The fruit drink was also excellent, reminds me of the street food I'd get in my trips to Indonesia. Just straight up fresh fruit juice with little bits of fresh fruit. Their complimentary chips and salsa was not the greatest but after hearing we liked it spicy, came out with the secret stash of spicy salsa which we appreciated. Knocked down one star because of the prices and how loud the place is.
