We went to neumanali for an engagement/ birthday celebration. The ambiance is very nice, cozy and homey. The service was amazing! Constantly checking in to ensure we had everything we needed and everyone was very pleasant. Food was amazing especially the scallop and rack of lamb. So much flavor and seasoned perfectly!Thank you neumanali for the amazing food & service!

In the busy hustle and bustle of downtown Hayward, Neumanli feels like a different world.Located inside a restored Victorian home, it can be jarring going from the sights, sounds. and smells of the Hayward BART station (across the street), to the restaurant.Inside, just one man was operating everything. He was host, waiter, and bartender. It's a small, intimate setting - so there wasn't a massive amount of space to cover. But still, his universal role kept him pinging around the room from one place to the next.We had the wild mushroom bruschetta for appetizer, and I had the ribeye entree. The bruschetta was great, but the steak was a bit overcooked - the only knock against this place.Still, an enjoyable night out. So if you're looking for a nice upscale restaurant in Hayward, just don't let the surrounding fool you.

Restaurant in a converted house with great ambiance for a quiet and romantic meal. Our grilled salmon and rack of lamb was delicious. However service was underwhelming. Only one staff served both as maitre'd and server. Plates were removed with asking and I asked for coffee but waiter did not inquire if others at the table wished coffee and when the bill came it was placed on the table without comment. We felt unwelcome. There was no gracious welcome, orders were placed at our table without comment, never inquired if we needed anything else or if we were enjoying our meal; we had to ask for water glasses to be refilled. I ordered dessert and I ordered coffee, but others at the table was not asked if they wanted coffee. The plates were removed from the table without permission or comment nor any comment made when the bill was placed on the table. After the credit card transaction was made, no thank you. We would have better enjoyed the service provided by a talking robot. Had always wanted to dine at this restaurant. Glad I done it, but not again.

One of my best dining experiences. Was surprised with a dinner date here. I had never heard of this place before so I was glad he found it for us. This restaurant sits in an older Victorian style home. I wouldn't have known a restaurant was "hidden" in here if I was just walking by. Truly is a hidden gem. The interior is very quaint and intimate. I think I remember about 8 tables or so give or take. One gentleman was running the show in the front (host, server, bartender). He was exceptional! Both entrees were seasoned and cooked to perfection. I even enjoyed the horseradish. It tasted so fresh. All the food was amazing. Not one complaint. 10/10 would recommend this place. Perfect for a date night.

Decided to try Neumanali for a birthday dinner and it did not disappoint! Nice, intimate dining room with pleasant ambiance without being stuffy. The food was great and actually quite the value. Wine, appetizers, steaks, and dessert for three people at less than $250. Service was a one-man show but he never let us down. Was attentive (constantly filling our water glasses), and friendly despite being busy. I would definitely come back and try some of their other creations.

Pros: huge portions and tasty; Popular to go as well; given the prices at fast food, this is a good choice for a long evening meal in downtown Hayward.Cons: one person running front of house doing the greeting, the seating, the order taking, serving, pouring beer and wine, busing tables. We heard cans being popped open and served as on tap beer? We didn't see and sodas go to any tables, so it must be the beer; Service was slow and large wait times between courses.

A hidden gem! Came on a Thursday evening with reservations and there was already a full house! Keep in mind that it's a restaurant establishment in an old Victorian home so it's already pretty small. The ambiance was very cozy and quaint and had an impressive wine collection at the front entrance. Everything we ordered was amazing and there was not a dish that we didn't enjoy. The clams were cooked in a buttery saucy garlic sauce that paired so well with the clams and absolutely amazing with bread. The mushroom bruschetta, if you are a fan of mushrooms, this dish is a must. The mushrooms were seasoned so good that we practically licked the plate clean. The ribeye, was sooo good. I may sound like a broken record at this point but it was so tasty and the right amount of flavor. The service itself was impeccable. There was one gentleman taking orders and servicing the whole establishment the entire time. He was amazing and made sure we were checked upon, waters were always filled and just made sure we were enjoying our night. Overall, it was an amazing experience with amazing food and I cannot wait to come back.

The waiter we had, who I believe may have been the owner, was absolutely rude and came across as racist. I don't remember anything about this restaurant except this horrible person's behavior and it overshadowed the entire experience. Definitely won't patronize this restaurant again, especially since what little I recall about the meal was less than favorable.

We found this place with Yelp and wow the atmosphere is so quaint and it's in a historic Victorian style house!The portion sizes are quite large and at the same time very delicious my partner got the filet mignon and i got the trout. So good, would get again.Our waiter was extremely attentive too and he made sure we were attended to. Definitely would come back!
