Cute little place to get your dim sum fix! Service was polite, helpful and fast. Our favorite was the mini pan fried dumplings. Small but packed with flavors and burst in your mouth with this porky soupy filling. The xlbs had a good ratio of soup to meat and very tasty. Hargows were ok, enough satisfy my craving. We enjoyed our meal and definitely will revisit to try other items. Recommend this place for casual lunch dates or families with kids.

*LOCATION*This small restaurant is in downtown San Mateo, surrounded by many other restaurants and shops. There is lots of street parking and parking garages nearby but don't forget to double check if you need to pay! *WAIT TIME*Hubby and I visited on a holiday Monday ~5:30pm. Since it was an early dinner, there were only a few tables filled inside. We were seated promptly.*FOOD*-Braised beef soup noodle: noodles weren't very chewy and beef was a lil tough, toppings weren't the traditional ones I was used to-Garlic string beans: most of the bean were small pieces, not sure if they were intentionally cut into halves or broken during cooking -Pan fried soup dumplings: inside filling was decent, not a lot of soup though, outer skin wasn't very chewy and not as "pan fried" crunchy/crispy as other places*SERVICE*Our waiter was quick to bring out our waters and take our order. Our food took a loooong time to come out even though there weren't that many tables. *AMBIENCE*The interior felt like a "nicer" asian restaurant since it was so bright and airy. I liked that there was a big window near the front door where you can see them making the fresh dumplings.

Hands down the BEST soup dumplings in town!If you're a fan of soup dumplings, look no further--this place is a game-changer. From the moment you bite into the delicate dumpling skin, you're met with a burst of savory, flavorful broth that's perfectly balanced. The filling is always fresh and tender, and the dumplings themselves are expertly crafted. I've tried several places in the area, but nothing comes close to the texture and taste here. The service is friendly and fast, and the ambiance is casual yet comfortable. Whether you're a soup dumpling aficionado or a newbie, this spot is an absolute must-try. I honestly can't recommend it enough!Pro tip: Definitely order the soup dumplings as soon as you sit down--they're that good.

Wtf! Why is this place so good??Was randomly in the area and wanted some xiao long bao. Saw this place popped up and I never heard of it so we decided to try it. Hands down, one of the best XLB/dimpling place in the Bay Area. Better than my previous favorite which is Bings or din dings in Fremont. Their XLB had plenty of soup and never broke or leaked. Pan fried dumping was fluffy, crispy, and juicy. Green onion pancake was so crispy. Decor was simple and bright. Staff was friendly. Food was bomb! Absolutely will come again.

During my first visit to Kajiken on the first of November, 2024, waiting in line outside, MY Dumpling caught my attention. I walked in, checked out their menu, and immediately knew that I had to try this place out. Exactly two months later, we (Mom, the kids, and me) made it here, for New Year's, 2025 dinner.Venue: 4 stars.Located in downtown San Mateo on B Street, MY Dumpling does not have a parking lot, but there are plenty of spaces in the neighbouring streets as well as garages in walking distance. We easily found parking just about two blocks away. We arrived shortly after 5:15 PM to the small restaurant (Maximum occupancy must be around 80 persons) with many available tables, so were seated almost immediately at the table of our choice. The venue was brightly lit and tidy. Even the single restroom was fairly clean.Food: 4.75 stars.Below are the items that we ordered, most of which were enjoyed by everyone in our party.Original Pork Soup Dumpling (6) ($12.95) - We started off with two orders of these xiao long bao to share between four people. They were a hit with us, so we ended up ordering two more lots of six pieces each.Garlic Pea Shoots ($18.95) - These greens tasted fresh and perfectly seasoned.Beef Chow Fun ($13.95) - This chewy noodle dish was very nice. Even the boys liked it...and they very rarely eat Asian noodles.General Tso's Chicken ($13.95) - DELISH! The fried pieces of chicken had a great crunch and were packed with flavour. The addition of broccoli florets were a nice touch. Another favourite, we ordered an additional plate of this.Pork & Shrimp Wonton Soup Noodle ($15.95) - MY Dumpling's version of wonton soup gives generous amounts of dumplings and veggies. This was a nice, flavourful bowl that we shared. With a good balance of meat and vegetables, this soup could be served as a complete meal for one.Pan Fried Soup Dumpling (6) ($13.95) - Although there was broth inside, these seemed more like mini pork buns. This was the unpopular dish of the night, especially for Mom, Cielo, and me.Crispy Eggplant ($13.95) - Yummy! Probably THE BEST Chinese eggplant dish in the Bay Area. YAY! Free hot tea is served here!!The total for our bill before tip came out to be $186.81 for twelve dishes and complimentary hot tea which I found to be reasonable.Service: 3 stars.Placing orders at the table is via QR Code, so service is down to a waiter or waitress just serving food and drink to you. Call me old fashioned, but I prefer the traditional way of placing orders with a person whom you can ask questions and/or make specifications on your dishes. We also had to flag someone down to ask for our teapot to be topped off with hot water when we wanted more tea - they did not automatically do so when we opened the lid to signal for more hot water.By the time we were leaving the restaurant, the dining room was packed. We had a great first impression of MY Dumpling. We will definitely return - I have got my eye on the Orange Chicken and Sweet Soy Milk for my next visit!

We popped in here for lunch on a Friday afternoon and were seated right away. We're giving complimentary tea but you can ask for water. We ordered the original soup dumplings, beef chow fun, chili oil pig ear, egg yolk bun, and the molten lave buns! Everything is priced pretty decently for a dumpling/dim sum establishment. The soup dumplings were delicious! The soup and meat were both flavorful. The beef chow fun was also delicious but quite oily. The chili oil pig ear was a great appetizer but it didn't have that numbing spice flavor that I'm used to for this dish. The molten lava buns were so yummy, the salted egg yolk filling oozed out.

This might be one of the best spots for Xiao Long Bao (XLB) in the Bay Area. The soup dumplings had delicate, thin skins but not too thin that it'd break upon picking up with chopsticks. The cucumber appetizer was generously seasoned with garlic, which might not be for everyone, but garlic lovers will rejoice. The boiled dumplings were as expected, but I was slightly disappointed with the pan-fried dumplings. The skin felt a bit doughy and dry, and there wasn't much soup inside. The restaurant was quite busy during lunch time. The QR code for ordering seemed to be experiencing some technical difficulties during our visit. Hopefully, they'll resolve the issues soon to provide a more seamless experience.Regardless, I'll likely be back for the XLB again.

I had slightly higher expectation for this place, based on the popularity, location, look and feel, hence my lower rated review. I would come back, but it's not a place I'd go out of my way unless I was really really craving some XLBs.We got the standard XLBs, pan fried soup dumplings, Mongolian Beef and General Tso's Chicken. The XLBs were the run of the mill ones, I enjoyed them, but I expected a bit more for a place that highlights this dish. The savoriness of the soup was a bit lacking. But I would order them again. The pan fried soup dumplings meanwhile, I would not order again. They were incredibly doughy and there was barely any soup. It ate more like a savory pastry. And lacking flavor, just a lot of dough. The Mongolian Beef was good but the beef was really chewy and it was spicier than I expected. There was just a pool of red sauce on the plate after. The General Tso's Chicken was really good, tons of batter but it was tasty and well fried. Though it just gave me Panda vibes, but not complaining. So I would come back for a few select dishes, but it's not a place I would go out of my way for or highly recommend to others. Service was incredibly friendly so that was a plus.
