I've always ordered takeout from here and finally dined in person. Sushi is high quality, at unbelievably affordable prices. Their classic omakase set starts at $25 and comes with a maki roll and 7 nigiris of your choice. You can pay extra for premium cuts like toro or uni. I tried their seaweed salad, which is nothing like the standard artificially green seaweed salads you would get at a typical sushi restaurant, ton more texture and different textured of seaweed and kelp. We also shared their toro trio, and finished with the kinako mochi. Such a gem of a restaurant and will def try to be back for in person dining again. With everything we ordered which included premium cuts and additional pcs, we ended up only spending $170 total for 2, which is the typical pricing for one person at a sf omakase restaurant at similar quality. --I've always ordered takeout from here and finally dined in person. This spot is a gem. Service is quick and attentive, but not rushed or creepy. Food was awesome. We ordered both the sashimi combo and the nigiri combo, as well as a couple other things to supplement. Everything was delicious and of high quality. Even so, I was as still a bit hungry. Would've like to see a few more warm, small plate offerings. Get the yuzu refresher. It was divine!

Every time I go to Mujiri, I think "I should come here more often". The quality of the fish is superb and the $25 nigiri combo is an amazing deal. I've been here for both lunch and dinner. It's a small space with countertop seating and a few tables inside. I didn't have to wait the last time I was here at lunchtime on a Saturday. FOOD:- nigiri combo: $25 gets you 7 pieces of non-repeated nigiri and 1 chef's choice hosumaki. You can either pick which fish you want for the nigiri, or get chefs choice. Absolute killer deal for the quality of fish that you get.

One thousand percent, yes!!! Last year, for our anniversary, i gave my husband hw - find us the best sushi locally. i don't know how he came across mujiri, BUT best sushi ever! It is so fresh, it melts in your mouth. We've tried nearly everything and it's just so good we can't pick a fave. They did give us a 2hr window, and it made me a little nervous at first bc i'm a slow eater. but we didn't need more time. We were done before the 2hrs. It helps that they bring it out quickly. And well sushi is to be eaten as soon as you receive it. So all was good! Def our go to place whenever we're craving sushi

Absolutely delicious. I ordered this every time I come to Mujiri. I first tried this restaurant in Hayward by the East Bay campus but this is hands-down my favorite Japanese restaurant in Oakland. I brought my grandmother this time and she enjoyed the food as well. It was just a really long wait time over an hour and 30 minutes almost 2 hours. It was Valentine's Day weekend though and also All-Star weekend so that could've impacted that. I think it's best if you make reservations ahead of time, but they also have an option where you can put your name on the waitlist if you go in person. I've gone here to this location in Oakland at least three times though and every time the food is good! Such an amazing sushi spot just wish they also carried miso soup. This will forever be one of my favorite spots and go to.

For quality of fish cuts and price, Mujiri is still unbeatable for budget sushi in Bay Area. I don't know of another place that would include premium options like toro and scallop for just $25 for 7 nigiri and maki. However, the service and waitlist system is really starting to get frustrating and having me reconsider going there as often anymore. We originally arrived and entered the waitlist around 12:36 pm, being 5th in line. We saw that there were several seats open inside. However after waiting for around 40 minutes, we saw absolutely no one being seated yet, and eventually decided to order the food to go instead. A few minutes after placing my to go order, they finally started seating the people on the waitlist, after having waited nearly an hour. It's absolutely ridiculous considering how noon should be a busy time for a restaurant, but there were clearly many seats open, and as far as I could tell, there weren't people coming in to pick up online orders either. When I finally opened my tray at home, I also found the unpleasant surprise of a hair in my food.

Best sushi spot in east bay hands down. It's always a treat when I eat at Mujiri. Their fish is so fresh and price is very affordable. The chefs and service are really friendly. I recommend the nigiri set - it's pretty filling and maybe order a side roll!

Still my favorite sushi spot in the bay, but the service have been getting worse every visit. They're super busy and for good reasons too. However, it does get frustrating when people who get seated after you get their water and order in before you're even seen again. Complaints aside... 7 pc nigiri starting at $25 is just an insane deal. You can choose pieces like uni, tamago, and more at various price points. Everything is very fresh. Their sushi rice is well seasoned too. Presentation can be a terny bit better (always some random stray rice lol).

A nice cozy Japanese sushi restaurant. For two people, ordered two nigiri combos and an appetizer. It's one of the best sushi spots in the East Bay, and folks know it. Definitely expect a wait if you're coming at dinner time (including weekdays). The fish is delicious and fresh. Last time I came here, I thought they were a little heavy handed with the wasabi, but this time the nigiri was well seasoned. We tried both slices of cheesecake (yuzu and matcha). The yuzu slice was lighter and flavor was better than the matcha. The cheesecake is on the pricy side, and I would skip next time.

Mujiri in Oakland is a phenomenal sushi place to go to. They nail every aspect of what you want from a sushi restaurant. From the ambiance of a traditional sushi spot. The top notch service and great quality in fish. I was a big fan of this spot. It is definitely worth risking potentially getting your car's wheels stolen in Oakland's street parking because it's rare to get find quality that good. My table ordered:- Nigiri Combo ($25)- Sashimi Combo ($35)All Chef's Choice and we got multiple plates of each. Each bite just melted in your mouth and it was so fresh. Each piece of fish was cut to perfection and bursted with flavor. You'd have to try it yourself because it was just top tier sushi. The rice in the nigiri is perfect and they already are pre-seasoned with soy sauce and wasabi so you don't need to dip them unless you want the extra sodium. You can also request to not add the pre-seasoning. The price may be on the steeper side, but I really feel it is worth it. The Sashimi Combo is also nice to share with someone because you get slices of 2 of each fish on the plate.10/10 experience overall and whenever I'm in the area I will definitely come back because Mujiri has gained a fan in me with their amazing quality.
