Ambience - it's nice. Spare, not too big, open kitchen. Tasteful. Good lighting. Upscale but not too fancy. Bathrooms were clean although it is a shared washing station that is technically out in the open. Cozy feel overall. Food - our steak was great. We ordered the ribeye and it was cooked to perfection, no sauce needed. Portions are not huge but they are enough - I saw others saying the sides are small but I thought they were fine. Creamed spinach tasted good to me but it was different than traditional. The Caesar salad made at the table was good - you can customize if you want with the server while they're making it because they make it in front of you which is fun.Sadly they didn't have dessert except ice cream the day we were there. Drinks - Very good. The wine we ordered was really good too. Service - was very good, especially considering this is Alameda. Felt like a big city high end place. Prices - little bit pricey, but it is a steakhouse and compared to other steakhouses in the Bay Area It's on par. They're still pretty new. You should go. It's nice, I'm a thumbs up.

Small intimate steak house located on Park Street. Seats around 26 for dinner? Free parking lot in the back. Excellent service and the restaurant is not pretentious allowing you to share steaks which can be huge or the Tomahawk from New Zealand. I don't know about you but I can't devour a whole 14 ounce ribeye like I did when younger, share it - yeah....Since we went as a group, we ordered the large Tomahawk, a Ribeye, Lamb-chops, and the fish of the day. All were properly prepared as requested and enough for the nine of us.The sides are a bit small and you'll need to order two-three per couple. We liked the mushrooms and the zucchini squash. Sauces are also extra and we decided to go sauce less with just the meat and the chef's seasoning.Overall, glad to have a steakhouse on Park Street.

Alameda finally has a steakhouse, and a great one at that! We went for a family birthday dinner, and could not have been more impressed. We went on a Saturday evening with a reservation, which I would recommend as most of the tables seemed crowded. We had the Caesar to start, and this was no ordinary Caesar; they literally make it in front of you at your table. It was delicious, and the dressing was still flavorful even if not as creamy as other Caesar dressings I've tried. We split the wagyu tomahawk between three of us, and between that and our sides of crispy potatoes and creamed spinach, it was enough for us with a few leftover pieces. The steak itself was delicious - melt in your mouth and well-flavored. The creamed spinach and potatoes were great as well. Service was very attentive and friendly, and when we pointed out that they forgot to charge us a corking fee, she said don't worry about it (this may have been due to a birthday at our table). They also have a bar area that seems like it could be a good place for a cocktail, even if you don't plan on eating there. Like most steakhouses, it isn't cheap, but for a special occasion, it is well worth it for the quality and service.

My friend took me to Moxie last night and rest assured that the steak alone is still worth your time. Unfortunately, elements that weren't bad in our first visit were very mediocre yesterday night not to say bad. Service needs to be addressed as the personnel does not seem to understand what they are sharing with you in terms of specials. Their omnipresence is such a small space tightly packed is not pleasant. The maître D is overfamiliar and needs to understand that we are not all comfortable with this overfamiliar approach that comes across as fake anyways. Therefore special for the fish was a seared salmon fillet which was served to used raw in its center. The waiter was surprise that is not what we wanted. We are talking salmon not tuna and if there is a level of cooking on offer , then I would like to be involved as I was for the steak. Sadly , it was taken back to the kitchen and cooked to death - I guess that teaches us a lesson .... My friend truly enjoyed her cocktail and the wine. So those two pluses and the steak and the delicious side vegetables get this restaurant three yelp Star. I expected a change of vegetables options as we have entered a different season but the restaurant is not there (yet) , hopefully they will consider a more seasonal approach. The desserts have remained the same since our last visits a choice of two. I am ok with that as we did not come here for desert.

Celebrated hubby's early birthday without parents and baby.Food:French onion soup: 5/5. It's as good as Angèle in Napa.I usually prefer prime rib but wanted to try something new, so I got the angus beef with flat iron cut. Husband went with prime rib.5/5 for the prime rib. I think I made a poor choice with my cut, but they made it pretty tasty. 4/5 - it was quite mushy for my taste. The Potato Dauphinoise was so smooth and creamy 5/5Brussels sprouts: 3/5 They were sold out of all desserts but gave my husband a soft serve ice cream on the house. 5/5Service:Our server was top notch!! He was very knowledgeable about the foods and the restaurant. I was very pleased to learn this restaurant is owned by our fellow Alamedan. It was also such a delight to know the head chef is a woman. Her name is Donna.I didn't expect our server would hear when I mentioned to my husband that we were celebrating his birthday tonight, but he did. I appreciated that gesture - it made me feel like I was at the Ritz. 8/5!!Ambience:Tables were close to each other. We didn't have a reservation, so I was happy that they accepted walk-ins.Overall, a very pleasant experience. Will come back another day.

They've mastered their steaks but overall, it was okay. I hope they revisit the menu, adjust the prices, and take more care with the desserts.Table-Side Caesar Salad: 2/5Overly acidic and too much vinegar. It's overpriced for what you get. They should drop the table-side gimmick, make it in the kitchen, and reduce the price by $8 to make it worth it.Hanger Steak & NY Strip: 5/5Both were well-cooked and perfectly seasoned.French Fries: 4/5Crispy and well-cooked but overly salted. There's no listed price for plain fries--just an option to add truffle cheese for $3.Mashed Potatoes: 2/5Bland, tiny portion for $10. Not recommended.Sponge Cake with Strawberry & Chocolate: 0/5Very disappointing. The sponge cake was dry, and the hard chocolate layer was weird. Store-bought cake would be better.

We tried Moxie Steak House for dinner this week and enjoyed a most delicious dinner with friends. The place was packed and bustling even at 8pm on a Wed night! The ambiance was upscale but still casual to make this a friendly spot for the community. The interior reminded me a bit of A Cote, with the nicely set bar and bar seating up front. We raved about the hanger steak, filet and spud variations we tried. The halibut my friend enjoyed was generous and delicious! The special ratatouille was outstanding as was the Strauss soft serve sundae to finish off. Service and other staff were all very attentive. Prices are on the high side especially with everything being a la carte. Moxie is a nice new option for that special night out or gourmet bites with cocktails. Also super conveniently located for anyone from outside Alameda with easy parking too. We'll be back!

The food was amazing. We shared one dish from each category and it was delicious. We had crab cake, steak with bernaise sauce, sweet potato with hazelnuts, delicata squash, and sponegative cake with chocolate glaze. The service was very good. And to top it all off, the prices were incredibly reasonable. We will definitely return! It also is a very nice space and not too loud!

I'm a vegetarian and I love going to Moxie! I went TWICE last week because my friends and I love the drinks and the service is always great. I had the beer battered cod both times, delicious! And my friend said her steak was wonderful. Can't wait to go back soon!
