My friend and I were craving sushi and she brought me to this place. The staff were wonderful and quick with our food. I love the location since it's right next to t-pumps and there's lots of parking. So the portions are a pretty good size. My favorite out of all was the honey walnut roll. The hand rolls are probably my 2nd favorite. What's nice too is that the staff give bottled water.I loved going here so much that I went again within a few days.

I went to this sushi place for brunch for the first time, and it ended up being my worst dining experience ever. I ordered a teriyaki chicken entrée and was shocked to find a long, visible human hair tangled in a slice of chicken. I politely asked the waiter to exchange the dish. He took it back and headed toward the kitchen, so I assumed everything was being handled. But suddenly, he turned around, brought the same plate back to me, and arrogantly insisted the hair wasn't from the restaurant. Excuse me? When I asked to speak with the manager, the waiter dismissed my request, claiming he was the manager. I eat out every day (probably more than I'd like) and have visited countless local restaurants, but I've never had an experience like this, not even close. If there were a contest for "Bay Area's Worst Restaurant Rip-off", MJ Sushi would surely be the clear winner.Horrible service, Horrible attitude, Horrible experience. Wish giving it no star.

On a winter evening, MJ sushi doesn't even offer hot tea. Uncalled for in Foster City. Grand opening sign still a tacky poster. No class. The food, plain franchise type. Better Japanese resto around coming from a Foster City resident.

It is our go to affordable sushi place ever since Yokohama in RC closed down. The food is amazing for the price. Service is good, not much to complain about. It's great place to meet friends and family. Very spacious!

Friends introduced us to MJ Sushi and we've been coming back ever since. It's one of those spots where the food is always consistent, never too crowded, service is friendly and efficient, and we always go home full and satisfied. I'm a big fan of their chicken karaage so if that's your jam, definitely give it a try. Pros: Consistent and efficient exprience, friendly serviceCons: N/A

Great sushi!!!! This place amazed us with its amazing service and ambiance, and most importantly, its sushi. I mean there are not enough words to describe how big of a sushi lover I am. And this place is definitely on favorite sushi places list. For the ones who prefer basic sushi rolls, I highly recommend the California roll from this place. They have got it down pretty great. I also love the MJ roll. Honestly, it is worth trying out all of them, cuz they are great!!! Highly recommend for sushi lovers!

Pretty decent sushi located in foster city. Found it kind of funny how they had a grand opening sign outside and they've been open for what seems like over a year. The service was good since the place was empty we had the restaurant to ourselves which we didn't mind. Prices were fair and the sushi tasted fresh!

Skip out on this place, any other place would probably be better! We got seated quickly since they had a lot of tables. We were only given one menu out of the two, we only saw the second menu after ordering because other tables around us were given it. The prices are expensive for the quality of food and small portion.Rainbow roll was stuffed with crab meat which was not ideal. Barely any rice on the outside. And the fish was edible but not good. Not pictured was the chicken teriyaki & salad. Chicken teriyaki was so bland and didn't look appetizing. The salad came in some takeout container and the sauce just tasted like spicy mayo, wasn't good. The miso soup was $1.99, which was a good price it was the only thing that tasted good. They charge you $.99 per bottle of water (they don't have water in cups which I found so odd).

This is my review of MJ Sushi of the two times I have been here so far.The first time we tried out MJ Sushi was back in 11/1/23. It is located in Marketplace Plaza in Foster City. There's a huge parking lot and it was around 8:15PM when we got there. There were several tables occupied, but for the most part it was fairly empty and we didn't have to wait to get a table. Interestingly, they serve water in water bottles or you can get a bottle of green tea/soda/beer instead. Here's what we got:11/1/23- Shrimp tempura roll- Rainbow roll- Salmon teriyaki- Monster roll1/29/24- Hotate nigiri- Chicken Teriyaki (mine)- Sashimi special (his)- Monster roll The Monster Roll is by far one of our favorites since we got it the both times we came. The crispy texture on top of the roll is a nice contrast to the soft sushi rice. The salmon and chicken teriyaki plates were fairly large and cooked perfectly. The amount of chicken and salmon were a nice surprise as well. There's lots of sauce on both dishes so they don't taste dry. The salmon skin is pretty crispy on the bottom, but not to the point that it's burnt. Miso soup and salad is standard, but the salad comes in a takeout box. The hotate nigiri was delicious and Zach said he enjoyed the Sashimi special. Adding the rose to the Sashimi special is a nice touch too. Staff interaction was pretty minimal, but everyone was very nice and were efficient in clearing away the empty plates.

Wanted to try a new takeout sushi joint and this was a close place with good reviews. Ordering online and pickup was easy.Ordered shrimp tempura roll, baked California roll, Warrior roll and MJ roll.My overall impression was that the rolls were heavily sauced. It made it hard to determine the quality of the fish. For those who are purist, I would probably stay away from the Special Rolls. It's hard to determine if the flavors were lost due to takeout, but I would say the quality was average at best. For now, it's not a place I would eagerly rush to go back to over other sushi joints.
