My wife took me here on a date. We ordered their spiciest noodles and their regular beef pickled cabbage noodles. Their fried fish was a really good starter. Cooked well and good Sichuan powder to accompany it All really good. Springy noodles, good meat, insane spice level. The host made sure I had plenty of napkins and water. She knew who was dying ahaha. I love this place and I hope they stay for a long time.

The food was good if you like this type of Chinese food, but I'm not sure if it's worth the price. If I was into this type of Chinese food though, I would come back. The best dishes were the hot pot and the fried rice. The fried taro was really good too, but we think we might be allergic to something in the dish.Pork and truffle was too sweet and sea bass with side salad (not pictured) was very small with just bones.Every dish was over $20. It was a nicer place ith very personable servers, but the lines are always long.

Unfortunately, this place is no longer offer rice noodle. Although their rice noodle was really good, and services were amazing.

An interesting and innovative Chinese restaurant that pushes beyond cultural boundaries. We ate the Nanking (cold salted) duck, which was a little too heavy on the neck and other bony parts for my liking. The cold kelp and radish salad was incredible, however. One of the best salads I have ever eaten. The Sichuan beef brisket and radish stew was tasty and quite piquant. Service surprisingly attentive for a Chinese restaurant.

Hunan Mifen is a new restaurant (July 2024, just 2 months old) in the Lion Supermarket Plaza. There is plenty of parking, but maybe challenging during peak hours as this plaza has a lot of popular businesses and restaurants. The service was friendly and welcoming. They have two kiosks (1 for a waitlist and another for takeout orders). For dine-in they have QR codes for their menu. The decor is modern and simple. The restaurant has a huge window area. The colors are reddish browns. They have 70s pop music playing. After they brought out my order, they told me there is table that has chili oil, chili sauce, black vinegar, chopped up green onions and cilantro. Rice Noodles with Braised Beef Sirloin & Tomato. The soup was nice and hot. You could taste the subtly of five-spice, white pepper, cinnamon. In the bowl was noodles and Chinese pickled vegetables. The braised beef sirloin came in a separate dish and was like beef stew but no tendon. It was decently tender. The noodles tasted fresh and had a nice spring/chew to them.

TLDR: Braised beef rib noodle dish was great. Flavorful without relying heavily on salt. I thought it was noodle soup at first because of how the photos looked- it's sauce based. There are two kiosks. One to put your name in and another for to-go orders. I was instantly greeted by the host but I wanted to take a look at the menu before deciding to eat in. I thought it looked tasty so I decided to see what's up. When I was seated, the host talked to me in Chinese/Mandarin but corrected herself when I kindly told her I wasn't Chinese . Then she showed me the specials, which was their braised pork over rice and egg, then gave me water shortly after. Upon ordering from the QR code, it was a little bit difficult to put my order in, which was odd considering that they used the 39Mile service. I ended up rescanning the QR code. If you want to edit your order, you better know Chinese (probably simplified- I don't know) because the special instructions were in that language, which was even odd again because the settings I put in were English. Oh well, no adjustments. I ordered a sliced beef noodle dish. The host came back and told me that they only had the thin, round noodles, and I just told her I didn't mind (I didn't even realize they had noodle variations because of the app). After that, the food came out in 7 mins. But when I got it, I was surprised it wasn't soup. On the menu, it looked like soup, but it turned out to be covered in sauce. I really wanted soup, but I sucked it up. I ended up loving the dish. It wasn't salty, the meat was braised nicely, and the sauce was filled with flavor and perfectly covered the noodles. When I finished my bowl, there was only a little bit of sauce left. Perfect ratio. When I got up to pay, I noticed there was a little area for more sauce, green onions, and cilantro! I guess this was a sign for me to come back.

Wow I did not realize this location was here! I really like Hunan Mifen. Ive always gone to the Newark or Sunnyvale locations. This place is right in the middle of those two other locations, so super convenient. The plaza has plenty of parking too. The noodles are delicious. I will be coming back again!

TLDR: Crispy Chicken, Mifen with Tomato base. For me, 3 stars is Starbucks or McDonalds. You know what you're getting, and I will go if there's nothing particular I want. 4 stars is delicious food, and I'll put it in my regular rotation (if it's local). 5 stars is delicious food, and has a top 5 dish.My wife and I both thought the food was pretty good... but not top 5. There wasn't anything that made me think WOW. Now of course, this rating may change, if I get some confirmation on the tomato dish. When I first tried the "Rice Noodles with Braised Beef & Tomato", my impression was... tastes just like my grandma's! And, if you've ever seen Ratatouille, that's a powerful recommendation. However, my memory is a bit hazy, so I plan to take my mom to try it to confirm. But other than that dish, all others were tasty, but not very WOW. We also had the Rice Noodles with Baby Back ribs. It had a good taste, but it wasn't fall-off-the-bone soft. In fact, some portions were downright tough to cut. The mifen in general was fine, a little bit more soft than I would like, but I think it's the way my wife prefers. The veggies were ok. It was pretty cheap for the amount of veggies we got... only $4!!We also ordered the crispy chicken, just to try it out. Very flavorful, and the chicken was juicy. I would definitely order it again. All in all, a great place to eat, and we will definitely visit again.

Strolling the plaza trying to pick a lunch spot and we were invited in by staff, so decided to go for it. It's pretty new and they're running a special of a free appetizer with an $18 appetizer. I don't eat beef, but there is a vegetarian and pork option. The broth on the special rice noodles with meat and bamboo were delish! The broth was really flavorful and the meat is served on the side so you can keep the broth clean. You order by QR code, but there is table service and the staff kept checking on us to make sure we had everything you need. Really authentic, really yummy. Try it! Really.

Been going to this Hunan Mifen chain stores for years. Just tried out this new store in Milpitas. Based on my first visit, I can say that the store has the same consistency in flavor and portion like the Newark store (the best one out of all the stores IMO). I just love their braised pig intestines with extra pickled mustard green on the side!
