4.5 STARSLike your legs thiccc and chonky?Medina got you!On my hunt for outdoor seating, I came across Medina Kebob House on yelp, an under the radar Afghan restaurant. Not going to lie, I was kinda iffy because of the mixed reviews. But, if you skim through, most of the negative ones are for the buffet which is no longer offered. Welp, you're never going to know unless you try it yourself and I'm glad I did!Medina Kebab House is open for takeout, delivery (3rd party apps), indoor dining, and dog-friendly outdoor dining. Yelp hours are wrong; they open at 11:30 am, not 11 am. But, the owner (one man show) was kind enough to take our order when we arrived at 11:20 am. M E N UBolani (stuffed flatbread), Quabili Pallow (Afghan rice w/ lamb shank), Kebabs, Stews, etc. Meats are halal. Buffet is no longer offered. F O O D* Chapli Kabab Platter: Minced Beef Patties w/ basmati rice, salad ($15.49): https://bit.ly/3Hc7cS5The chapli kebabs were delicious - crispy seared crust and well-spiced meat. The tomato in the middle helped the patties retain some moisture. The white basmati had perfectly separated grains with a bite to it. The sumac dusted salad (chopped romaine, tomatoes, and red onions) provided some freshness. I wish there was Afghan cilantro chutney for punchy heat. The accompanying yogurt sauce (too watery) and hot sauce (not spicy) were underwhelming.* Qabili Palau: Afghan Rice w/ lamb shank, carrots, raisins, salad ($20.79): https://bit.ly/3p5H2dD***National dish of AfghanistanThe thiccc and chonky braised lamb shank was so meaty and fork tender: https://bit.ly/3JLBkW7. The brown basmati rice was flavorful from soaking up the broth. The carrots and raisins added sweetness. All that missing was the golden almonds for crunch. Generous portions; had enough leftovers for another meal. S E R V I C EWarm, friendly, and gracious owner. Fast casual set-up but he made sure our table had shade by coming out to roll up the umbrella. We were the only ones there and our order took about 15 minutes. A M B I A N C EHole-in-the-wall in a dated micro strip plaza.Handful of tables indoors and four tables in the front patio. P A R K I N G Street parking on a one way residential area. Overall, solid Afghan meal that's easy on the wallet with generous portions. If you're looking to satisfy your carniwhore cravings, give Medina Kebab House a try!
