Mariscos San Juan

My husband and I were craving Mexican style seafood and decided to stop by Mariscos San Juan for some take out to share with my parents. It was a weekend afternoon, and the store still had plenty of customers. We ordered their extra large ceviche (with shrimp and octopus); large super cocktail (with shrimp, octopus, and oyster); and large aguachile green. All of the seafood was fresh and didn't have a fishy taste to it. The ceviche and aguachile had some avocado in them, but not too much that it was a filler for the actual seafood. We were given a lot of tostadas and salditas (saltine crackers) with our order. The portions looked small, but were actually reasonable for the price. We even had some leftovers for the next day!They have a small (maybe 1-2 spots?) parking area in the back, but it was occupied by a truck when we went. We ended up just street parking about 2 blocks away in the residential area.

I can tell the food was made with care and delivered with love. They packaged it picture perfect. They included lime salsa crackers extra tostadas napkins a fork & had the shrimp nicely placed in the to go box. It was the perfect portion I feel very content.

I have visited Mariscos San Juan a handful of times now, tried several things on their menu so I feel qualified enough to write a review now. I mainly go to the Senter Rd location but I went to this one today. The menu items I liked were the tostadas. I've gotten the mixed and the octopus one. I think they're good.The menu item I didn't like were the oysters. I ordered a dozen of them but wish I had just gotten half a dozen. I've seen other people order them and they looked tasty. Except they are completely flavorless. No hint of the sea or ocean at all. I would not recommend. They go for a pretty fair price though, sub $1.50. But still not worth!! You can get far better elsewhere.The shrimp cocktail was ok, but I prefer the tostadas more. It's the same shrimp and octopus ingredients, but served in a tomato based sour tasting broth. (Which I didn't really like that much). It made my stomach feel acidic and I'm left with a lot of broth left after finishing the contents. I also probably wouldn't order this one again.

Buena comida el aguachile y sus tacos dorados muy buenos sus tostadas mixtas una de mis favoritas. Siempre que eh ido la meseras que me an atendiendo an sido muy amables. De verdad lo recomiendo.

I've been coming here for years! They never disappoint. The cocteles the tacos dorados the tostadas de ceviche...EVERYTHING IS GOOOOD!!!Don't go anywhere else! This is the stop! To dine in or to go! Here!! Right here!!

Aguachiles is amazing here. I love the dish with the red salsa instead of traditional green. That's literally the only thing I ever get and it's been solid every time.

My friend who lives near by thought we should have lunch at Mariscos San Juan. She and her family eat there often, but it was my first time. Each table had jars of hot sauce, saltine crackers, napkins, fried tortillas & limes cut in half. I'm sorry, but I don't want to eat tortillas that are out for who knows how long with how many people touching them. That's just not sanitary. Speaking of not sanitary, the plastic coated menus were covered with bits of food. Yuck. Okay, maybe my menu was the only one that was dirty, but I doubt it. My friend had the Copa Campechana, which is a big goblet filled with shrimp, octopus, avocado, & cilantro in a cold tomato soupy mixture. I had the Camarones al mojo de ajo, which was a plate with sauteed shrimp, tomato rice, and a salad of iceberg, tomato, & avocado. My shrimp were garlicky and buttery, but they were also over cooked and rubbery. There only seemed to be one waitress, and the six tables of customers seemed to be too much for her. She didn't appear frazzled or anything, but we waited a long time to get any help. She also charged us $10 too much, but she did make the adjustment without any hassle. Maybe Mariscos San Juan is a good neighborhood spot, but not one that I would like to visit again, sorry.

Food and drinks were amazing! Definitely coming back again. My boyfriend loved the garlic shrimp and fish. You can not go wrong with anything

Excellent ceviche and octopus tostadas. Tosttada shells freshly made and eight different salsas with fresh lime and avocadoPortions were generous. Jamaica hibiscus drink was a delicious accompaniment. Serive was welcoming and fast. Prices surprisingly low.

Best fish tacos around! Cheap and good food plus they always have the soccer games on. The servers are very friendly and attentive. Check them out.
