Quintessential East San Jo Grocer. Very heavy lean on hispanic digs but I'd say also about the other 30% of the offerings here are legit Asian with a heavy lean on things Vietnamese. I stock my fridge and pantry with more things from places like this than say Safeway or Whole Foods, so I was a good fit for this place. The store is somewhat in the hood, there's a security guard up front all the time. The store is pretty big, bigger than most corner stores. This is probably the size of an old American grocery back in the day, when the Bay Area was about a third the size as it is today. The store is pretty clean and well stocked and I was able to easily spot some sweet ass deals. I have a side hustle in this area, so I'll pop in every 2 weeks or so and I usually leave with a nice sized bags worth of staples.I love their produce and meat counter here, much more ethnic in offerings. Asian greens, chiles of all sizes and heat, herbage and even a seasonal fruit or 2. Most great prices, beats both Safeway and 99 Ranch. Their meat counter is order by the piece or pound. Didn't see things pre-packaged so you will need an employee, which I actually find charming in an old school way. No big selection for things like steak (unless it is carne asada) but many things meant to get cooked low and slow, which is a very ethnic way to cook. So lots of meats for braising/stewing or even slow roasting, which is actually my preferred way to cook on most days. Huge offal area too, better and more thorough than anything I have in my local area. Definitely an old worlder's dream and an American suburbanites nightmare. Even though I live in the suburbs, I definitely live with more old world tendencies. The only part I didn't really care for over here was their seafood counter. Very sparse and looked a bit sketchy. Even an American grocery store had a more valid seafood section, and that's kinda saying a lot. But outside of that one knock, this place fits me quite well. I'll continue to shop here, as long as my travels keeps me in their path. A service that suits me well.

Formerly known as Food Bowl 99, this supermarket offers patrons the same fishy stench that packs a huge punch as you enter. The establishment specializes in Hispanic foods and beverages but carries a large variety of Asian groceries and items at well. The parking lot is huge in size which makes it easy to maneuver in and out. Cost isn't too bad but pay close attention to your purchases. There were a number of produce items that were not fit to be sold still placed out on the sales floor. Yuck.Lucky 7 Supermarket definitely wouldn't be a first pick when it comes to my grocery needs but it sure does the job it you're caught in a bind or simply lazy.

Stopped in for a few ingredients needed for dinner. This place seams to be always busy and crowded. The meat counter is a popular area in this store. Bought meat for pozole and the prices and portions were reasonably priced. Avocados were a good deal so of course I had to get some. They were just perfect not hard or overripe. Prepare to wait in line to get in because of COVID-19 guidelines. However the line moved fast and we were in quickly.

Asian kid with eyebrows at cashier charged 10 cents for bag even though I paid with EBT card. Proposition 67/SB 270 states that a store must provide a reusable grocery bag or recycled paper bag free of charge to customers using EBT.

Generally, the supermarket is fine. My family shops here all the time for meat. However, today was a bad trip for me. I swung by to purchase durian and pandan ice-cream popsicles. But they stopped carrying those, so I bought the mochi ice-cream they had on shelf instead. They're doing well with COVID-19. They're only allowing people with masks to come in, and have tape to mark where customers should stand/wait. During my trip, the register was broken. The cashier and I just both stared at the blank screen waiting for a transaction screen to appear or something. But the main reason why I am writing the review is because of the mochi ice-cream. Mochi is chewy dough, but mine was stale and crumbly... They were not expired-- I double checked before purchasing. This only happens when there is improper food handling. Just stop selling mochi ice-cream. Drop it. Honestly doubt anyone is buying your mochi ice-cream anyways. I had until June or July for one box and August for the other. Trash all your Sweety Ice Cream Mochi Ice Cream because they've all gone bad. If I'd known, I would have bought the ice-cream elsewhere. There's a Walgreens down the same block I could have gotten proper chewy mochi ice-cream from instead. Waste of my ten bucks.

This used to be the Food Bowl supermarket. Theyre fairly new so lets see how they do. Good place to get your asian vegetables. Their prices are decent on fresh food, but their brand name products like the vinegar brand or flour you would see at Target is much more expensive here, almost double the price.

I recently purchased food from this store and was shocked to find mold growing on it. This is completely unacceptable and raises serious concerns about their quality control and food safety standards. The product was within its expiration date, so there's no excuse for such negligence. It's clear that this store doesn't prioritize customer health or satisfaction. I won't be returning and strongly advise others to think twice before shopping here. There are plenty of other stores that maintain better standards and care about their customers.

Nice service from the cash registers to the folks in the butcher department, especially Daniel, who consistently provides quality service with a smile.

A hidden gem for Vietnamese herbs/veggies! I don't shop here for anything else, only Vietnamese herbs. 5-star applies to that only. Freshest Vietnamese herbs of almost any place I've been to and great prices :)
