This place is good good. I cane here with some friends after a hike and we all ordered our own sandwiches. We all agreed we'd eat half and then head home and eat the rest for dinner. Once we started eating, we didn't stop until all of our sandwiches were gone. Their dutch crunch bread tastes so good and they're generous with the meat. I'll be stopping by whenever I pass through castro valley!

This review is in three parts: food, website, and in-store visit. The sandwiches were fresh and tasty with a quarter pound of protein included in each. The order was precise. The website is uselessly outdated with prices that are half what is really available. I would suggest calling in your order, but I'd be steering you wrong as it appears they don't answer the phone.Next, the line was long, yet the (owner/manager) older guy just stood there doing nothing. He could have taken orders, to make some movement, but nope. I'm not sure why they are not using the number ticket system despite signs instructing you to take a number. The packaged food in refrigerators and freezers is plentiful and I didn't check dates for freshness. It's a relatively quiet place at the tables with a sit down, eat, and leave kind of vibe or take your food to go.

A diamond among the rough. This place is located near some subpar places to eat. From the outside you cannot really tell how big it really is. When you walk in there is a small dining area then a large deli area on the right where you have to take a ticket. After that, you wait to be called, order and pay when they finish. I had a Lucca combo and my wife had a smoked turkey and salami both of them on Dutch crunch. They were both very delicious! If you are looking for some tasty meats and sandos check this place out.

First time here. I visited during my peak craving for an Italian sandwich, and this place did not disappoint! I came in around 12PM, and there were plenty of people sitting inside enjoying their lunches. I did not have the opportunity to look around at their grocery store offerings, but I definitely will next time.Ordered for pick-up through the phone, super easy and they made the sandwiches fairly quick (est. 15 minutes). I opted for the Lucca's Combo on Dutch Crunch with provolone cheese, which was recommended by the person I was ordering with. They wrap the sandwiches in a non-paper (plastic?) cover underneath the paper wrapping, so the bread did not get mushy or soak through the wrap on the way home.Lucca's Combo (4.5/5) - The dutch crunch was soft, sweet, and fresh, as were the veggies. The sandwich itself was packed with meat, they were very generous with the fillings. At first, I thought the sandwich was a little smaller than I was used to, but with so much of the filling, I ended up getting pretty full after eating half of it. Not complaining though - I ate the other half a good hour later. The only thing I would add is an extra touch of their condiments or some extra pickles/pepperoncinis (if they still have them), just to add a bit more flavor to the sandwich itself - Personal preference, as I love a sour touch to most of my meals!

Luccas Italian Delicatessen is my husband's and my dad's favorite place to get sandwiches in this part of the Bay. So naturally, I also am here all the time and every time we've been, we have not been disappointed. There's street parking right in front of the deli but also some parking in the lot behind the building and on the side street. When you enter the shop, you'll see that along with sandwiches, they also have a mini market of other Italian goodies. You'll find everything from pastas, treats, cookies, and torani syrups. On busier days, you'll have to grab a number and wait to be called. When it's less busy, you can usually get away with just getting in line. Use the time while waiting to check out their menu and decide what you'd like to order!Once called up, you'll give them your order and they'll make the sandwiches. When they're done, they'll call you back up to pay. This is also when you'll be able to add any additional items that you'd like to purchase from the market area or from their fridge/freezer section. They've even got trays and packed meals for you to have later!Service is always quick and easy here. The staff is so efficient when they make the sandwiches so you'll be in and out as quickly as possible. The shop also has some tables inside and outside so you can dine-in if you prefer.Overall, a great sandwich spot in CV and we'll always be back!

Luccas Italian Delicatessen is a deli counter and imported foods store, offering freshly-prepared sandwiches at amazingly affordable prices. I tried the Smoked Peppered Turkey on Dutch Crunch, which came with freshly-sliced turkey along with lettuce, tomato, onions, pickles, and mustard on a supermarket Dutch Crunch roll. The cold sandwich was decent, though the bread was rather disappointingly soft and spongy, and the shell on top was hardly crunchy. Nevertheless, this made for a nice, atmospheric stop for a quick, casual, affordable lunch.

I have been getting sandwiches here since I was a kid and the quality and taste has consistently stayed the same throughout the years. The only change has been the price in sandwich, which is now around $10.25 with no additions. Pros: -bread is always fresh -sandwiches are big and filling, they don't skimp on the meat -family owned and small town vibes with consistent good food Cons:-gets busy around noon/lunch time so plan ahead for long lines -parking lot is small -not a place for a sit down meal. Better to take the sandwich Togo and find a nice place outside to eat -costs extra for avocado, bacon, and cheese Overall, this has and always will be my go to spot for a deli sandwich in addition to delicious frozen ravioli.

Having a family day next-door in the playground we've stopped at Luccas Italian Delicatessen in Castro Valley and was very impressed with the quality of their sandwiches, variety of the pre-cooked dinners, salads, and desserts (cookies of all types). The selection of all types of bread was fresh and the ingredients were just out of this world. now, as usual, at the decent place you really have to wait so during the lunchtime here you need to take the number, and make sure you do that, and then wait to be called. You will get an individual sandwich cooking service, meanwhile pick your battle off the board above. The staff was fun & friendly. The cafe is relatively big and has about 8 to 10 dining tables. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting. I will definitely be returning to Luccas Italian Delicatesse for more delicious sandwiches and other goodies in the future.

The wait was well worth it! I added cheese and avocado to the smoked pepper turkey on a wheat roll. All fresh ingredients, this sandwich hit the spot. Would recommend to anyone.
