I decided to come here on a Wednesday early evening since I was in the mood for pan dulce. I paid $4 in cash total for two conchas. There are no names or prices labeled on the different pastries, which is typical of most panaderias. The worker who helped me was friendly and quick; I didn't get a good look to see if credit cards are accepted. They also offer free coffee. There were no hours posted outside the store when I visited. The conchas were pretty good, sweet and fresh, although I didn't pick up on anything that was especially different from other pan dulce I've had.

This is a childhood staple from my family's early days in the Fruitvale. We used to frequent the bakery a lot more when we lived in the area. Some of my greatest memories were of my mom buying us a torta (Mexican sandwich) made out their fresh baked telera bread. She would send us off to our field trips or grab one on the way out from our doctors appointments at La Clinica. I stopped by and had a torta and grabbed a coffee the other day, reminiscing about my childhood. The coffee and sandwich was only $8. PLEASE REMEMBER TO BRING CASH. I know a lot of us have transitioned to digital wallets but credit cards charge merchant fees that dig into small family business like these. You'll notice a lot of mom and pop shops in the Fruitvale, including eateries to nail salons, prefer cash. On a separate note, their pan dulce is the embodiment as one of the last remaining, family-owned traditional Mexican bakeries. A lot of other smaller businesses have been resisting the pressures of going under because of larger chain stores like Cardenas/Mi Tierra are able to sell cheaper (lower quality) bread.

Very fresh bread. Great quality. My family has been going here for years. I think they only take cash though. My mom told me the lady at the register told her that the baker has been making bread at this bakery for 30 years and he's from Mexico City, he makes it the traditional way. I love their Pan de Muerto (Day of the Dead Bread). The bread is soft, the bread inside has cinnamon flakes in it. Street parking in front and in a busy area during the afternoon. However, you want to go there in the morning when the bread is at it's freshest and there's plenty of parking at that time of the day. I recommend this bakery to everyone.

This bakery is not so close to me but it's so delicious it's worth the drive. The bread in the cake is so moist. The strawberries were so sweet & fresh. It's worth every scent I've spent. Very cute decorations by the way.
