21.05$ for a soft drink and a burrito that's not served as quickly as chipotle and frankly not as good as chipotle is just not good value.Staff was quite friendly and they have a bar. I suspect this is an excellent place to watch a game and have a drink. Great location off the lake. Cantaros is pleasant and walking distance for me. Maybe I'll come back and rate it higher in the future. My only real complaint is that it's overpriced for what was on my plate.Edit: I have come back and bumped to 4 stars from 3. Still a touch pricey but considering the area it's nice enough.

I came here on a Saturday for lunch at around 1:30 PM, and there was a lot of space to sit down. I ordered three tacos: steak, tofu, and al pastor. None of these really wowed me, but of the three, the al pastor was the best because it was the most flavorful. The tofu was pretty bland. The tacos come with some radishes, carrots, and some kind of green peppers on the side. I could only really eat the radishes because the rest were too spicy or sour. In terms of positive qualities, I thought the cashier was pretty nice. Additionally, they have plugs for charging phones, and they can easily seat large groups.Overall, the food was very middling, but I appreciated that they used reusables for most of their foodware (see details below). ECO NOTES (Dine-In)Dine-In Dishware: Reusable platesNapkins: Single-use disposable paper napkinUtensils: Since I had tacos, these were provided only upon request. The utensils came with a metal fork and knifeWater cups: Plastic cups with paper straw. When I ordered hot water, they gave it to me in a reusable clay cup.

Ok I've lived blocks away for 30yrs and have gone there for as long as this place has been in open. But now that the new openers have taken over I've tried to have an open mind and be patient with staffing changes seeing obvious frustration in front of customers with mess ups in orders. I used to be able to call my order in with my phone number they'd have my regular order history and I could get the same and or alter it slightly and be happy. Not anymore with this new owner. The new owner was even taking orders herself for a while was but clueless on how to do this. Maybe she didn't blend well with the staff. I remember seeing her behind the counter. She stood out. She kept telling everyone she was the new owner. Not in a nice way. Probably scared away the good workers and chef with his good recipes! So then they see this is a problem and step back from the front as the face of the restaurant being they are hurting their own business. I know they seen that happening. However the damage was done but they claimed their recipes did not change. No way! The cook some how can't remember how to get how to make the simple child nachos. Like I said my order has been in their system in their for years but ok not anymore. But why do I have to tell him 3x how it's supposed to be done? Child's nachos just means 3 ingredients. Chips, beans and cheese. I only asked for EXTRA beans and cheese. So chef gives the tiniest box of beans w chips and with my burrito I ordered. I'm asking where is my nachos because no way can nachos fit in that bag? It had to go back 2 more times before he got it right! Are you kidding!! 3 ingredients!! These guys can't get something so simple right and the beans were so bland I might as well get canned beans!! Next time I'll just drive down to international and get tacos and nachos from those guys down there!! At least I know those guys have good food!! Now I know why this place is continually empty!! I won't be back!!

The visit started out very slow, but it picked up throughout the dining experience; it seems though the owner was the only person there when we first arrived ; there was one other table occupied. It was pretty cold and bleak inside of the establishment. it had been years since I visited this place so I wasn't sure what I was going to encounter but I did expect a little more activity on a Friday evening nevertheless, about 6 o'clock (about 20 minutes after we initially arrived) a server, came by and greeted us and started taking our order. We ordered a picture of margaritas and she allowed us to swap out the well tequila for Casamigos.Entrées :Quesadilla plate Steak nachos Three meat fajitas Taco salad with shrimp and grilled vegetables A side of guac was oldered to eat with the chips (that seemed very store-bought) but the salsa green and red were pretty tasty although a very small serving.Once that 6 PM server got busy, she was attentive and patient and was as we were a patient with her and as she was towards us. Around 7pm- a local crowd picked up in the establishment. Overall, the service was about an eight out of 10 ; atmosphere; at 5- too cold and drafty; need some energy, music, etc.; my taco salad= 10! The margarita a good nine out of 10; the fajitas were more like a five because the meat was overcooked as it stuck to the griddle that it came on. It came steaming hot, but it was not fully edible. My daughter complained about the quesadilla but she ate it. Most of it. The nachos plate had two times as many chips that was necessary. However, my daughter thought the meat and toppings were pretty good but she left a half a plate of chips.I would go again for the salad although I did spend $25 for it while customizing it to have fresh grilled onions and veggies as well as shrimp versus just getting chicken or pork on it which would've save me about nine dollars.

STAY AWAY! I'm not sure how people eat here to be honest, we came in with some friends and the food was not good at all! The chips tasted stale and the green salsa it came with tasted like raw tomatillos and was a like jello colo. My partner and I both got wet burritos with red salsa and it was the worst burrito I've ever had in my life. The red salsa tasted like sweet marinara sauce, the beans were dry, the rice was flavorless and hard, and even the cheese was congealed and bad. Could not believe this was a Mexican restaurant. Sure we came in around 6:30pm on a Sunday night with a big party and they were quick to accommodate us, but that does not excuse the quality of the food. Considering this restaurant is in Oakland, I expected at least mediocre Mexican food instead I felt like I might get food poisoning. Do not eat here.

The food has tanked! Used to be alright, not anymore. Premixed margaritas, too. That and an illegal surcharge for using a credit or debit card!! At a restaurant?! Nope. Also, it was completely empty when I was there.

Worst Mexican food in Oakland, in a town full of great Mexican. Possibly worst Mexican of my life. Worse than what you'd get at a taco Tuesdays from a military chow hall in the middle of nowhere. Tasted like taco Tuesdays from a community college cafeteria somewhere in Wyoming that's been chronically under-funded for years. Or Mexican food in Korea, or ordering Mexican from a domestic airport somewhere like in the countryside of Albania or Western China. Honestly, I wanted to eat at a sit down Mexican place, but Idk wtf I was thinking when I went here. This place is worse than a Chevy's. At least the chips at Chevy's taste freshly cooked, in-house.Ordered the quesabirria and it was swimming in grease. Meat was unseasoned. Unlike the ones at Maya Halal or other places. I also ordered one fish taco, but couldn't taste the fish since it was swimming in a quarter cup of crema. It would have been more honest to have listed this item as "crema in soft tortilla" versus baja fish taco.My gf ordered a steak fajita plate and also, swimming in grease. The beans tasted like they just boiled beans in water. A little salt hurt nobody... Season the beans! I honestly don't know how this place stays open. The only good thing about this place was their salsas which tasted actually spicy, but the chips were stale and purchased outside (you can tell). The waitress was sweet, but man, the food here is the pits. The cups were cute... They were St. Patty's day plastic cups that turned green with the cold water, and returned to clear as the water level went down. And water we needed as we were trying to finish our meals, which would have been pretty good, if it were Soviet Russia circa 1989.Save yourself and go somewhere else for the love of your hard earned paper. 2 stars for good salsa and nice waitress, but terrible food experience overall. I hope this review saves you from wasting your time or money.

I did takeout, which was an hour wait. However, it was totally worth the wait! Free chips with salsa and green sauce were provided. Fresh chips! I'm giving the restaurant a 4, as I did not dine in. I am unable to note the ambiance and full service. I am rating this completely on taste and portion size. May stop by for margaritas and revise my review

Wow this place has gone downhill. I used to eat here all the time and it was great. Now they jacked up the prices and cheaped out on the food quality. There is barely any staff there anymore either and they're clueless. Thanks for the bag of 6 tortilla chips

I've reviewed this folks before on another older account and gave them three stars or less, and honestly, they've been consistently good since I want to do my update here. Their food is great. Particularly, my wife and I enjoy their breakfast burritos, [me with the steak and hers with the sausage]. I also enjoy their mixed vegetables and salads that I can order on the side. In addition, they have a fantastic habanero salsa, with is great for any spice lover. You have to order it at 4 oz or 8 oz, and it is not always available, but I rarely regret getting it. Overall, their food is fine. I am not a fan of their refried beans but their pinto and black beans are solid. Their taco Tuesday is genuinely a value, however, fair warning, their kitchen can be overwhelmed on busy afternoon evening. I hate the review bombing this place is getting. I have had issues with incorrect or missing orders before, but outside of a watery salsa, I have been happy with this place or else I wouldn't order from her three or four times a month. Sure, there is a Salvadorean restaurant down the street that does good food as well, but their two menus are different enough that I will happily order from both.
