Simple online order process and extremely efficient service at their counter (I was in and out in mere minutes). Many bonus points for them entertaining my literal text emoji decoration request for my brother's birthday cake! The guava cake is fantastic, ridonculously moist, and fruity without excessive sweetness throughout. This was very well received by everyone at our gathering and we're usually not shy about critique! Definitely a top tier offering and reflects quite the standard for baked goodies. I'll most certainly be happy to return when another cake need arises.

This use to be THE bakery I ordered from for all my custom cakes (milestones, birthdays, etc...) This particular review was for my last order. I've never had an issues with the cake until this last incident and I am beyond disappointed, I don't think I can go back. I started the order through email like usual. Something in my gut told me something was off. I can't pinpoint what it was, but maybe it was the tone or the lack of attention to detail when exchanging emails. I disregarded the feeling because I've ordered from them so many times before, what could go wrong? When I went to pick up the order, a man held up the cake from behind the counter, and at over 6-8ft away, the cake appeared decent. I couldn't see the details and I knew it was too late to make any changes so I gave him the "ok" so they could package it up. As I was waiting, I could see the decor peeling off the side of the cake so I pointed it out to the staff. They told me they could fix it for me, so I waited 10 minutes or so. They had me sign my name on a random piece of scratch paper before giving me the cake. I guess it's their way of telling me that I have accepted the cake "as is" and I can't complain after the delivery. I felt like that was so unprofessional but I get it, they've probably had bad experiences with picky customers. When I went home to exam the cake, it looked as if an amateur baker decorated it. The "Happy Birthday" letters were written over an area that was smeared, as if they messed up and you can clearly see they wrote over it. The font was also basic, not the typical handwriting I've previously had on my prior cakes. Some letters were larger than others and looked very elementary to me. The decor was unevenly placed throughout the cake, like there was so thought putting this cake together. Some areas were blank while some areas had a bunch of decorations. (I wish I could post photos but this cake was personal to me and my family so I want to keep it private.)Their cakes are amazing and that's why I use go back time after time. I have no intentions of rectifying this incident. I am more surprised and disappointed in the quality of work, the experience of the entire ordering process, and the poor delivery of the cake. For such an expensive cake that was suppose to be the highlight of our celebration, it failed in all aspects. So beware if you're planning to get a custom cake here, you never know how your cake will turn out.

I've passed this bakery many times before and decided to try it out for myself. There were so many wonderful options on display it was hard to choose which to buy. There were a few people in front of me but I was helped fairly quick. The workers were nice and patient while I tried to decide on my order.I opted for two guava cupcakes, a Napoleon, and a pistachio macaron. The guava cupcakes were very moist and rich. I didn't get much of a guava flavor from the cake itself, but the jam at the top really worked well. The macaron was delicious.

I called this morning (on a Mon) to reserve a cake and the lady had so much attitude, I almost hung up. I'm glad I didn't, because their cakes are pretty solid. If you want anything larger than 8 inches, you have to order 2 days ahead online, so keep that in mind! They're famous for their guava cake, tiramisu, and burnt almond cake. The burnt almond wasn't as perfect as I remember because there's less custard now, but the almonds and everything else was still good.I hope next time I don't get attitude because I'll probably still buy a cake at some point haha.

First time ordering a birthday cake from La Patisserie and was pleasantly surprised! I was afraid that the Cappuccino Mousse Cake might be too sweet, but it wasn't. The cake was delicious. Sponge cake was soft and moist, the coffee cream and normal cream paired super well altogether with the cake as a whole. The texture of the creams were perfect and each spoonful melted in my mouth. The coffee flavor was just right too! There were beautiful flowers and leaves made out of chocolate on top of the cake, and it was completely edible and delicious! Would definitely consider trying out their other cakes in the future. Super easy ordering process (online or you can call to order).

We were on some kind of weird food odyssey. Dim sum followed by ramen followed by cookies. Needless to say, we didn't have dinner afterwards. I hadn't remembered that we had purchased dessert here once before in 2015. I only remembered when I started this review and saw the old pictures. I don't know if I had written a review, and it got taken down or if I simply hadn't written a review. The front of the house is not huge. I believe that there were four small display cases. Our server was very patient with our indecisiveness and made sure that we knew that the Florentines had peanuts in them (checking for allergies). They have a pretty good assortment of cookies (mix & match at $18.50 per pound) and some full cakes and an selection of slices and smaller dessert items. Because we didn't know where we were heading next and we didn't have an ice chest, we didn't buy any dessert items with cream. We don't get down this way very often. We used to come for a restaurant that is long gone now - Pot Sticker King. But we'll be back.

I had their burnt almond cake because I've been on this burnt almond kick. I've tried Peter's bakery which does it more traditional, Lawsons Bakery, traditional as well... and La Patisserie... just amazing. Their burnt almond cake so far is our favorite. They have a mini size cake (and big one) but it's topped with candied burnt almond and some powdered sugar. The inside is the best, with a amaretto custard and a chocolate layer. It's SIMPLY THE BEST. It's delicious! I LOVE THEIR CAKES! This is one of my favorites next to my favorite- their chocolate strawberry shortcake. Also had their cheesecake and their La Parisian. The La Parisian is great as well.Solid place! My favorite bakery and can't get anything like this down in SD. Every time I'm back in the bay, I hit this place up.

I went here during my "Search For The Best Burnt Almond Cake" day. After my stop at Peter's Bakery, I went here by one of my friend's recommendation. They said this place has better burnt almond cakes, so I had to give it a shot. This place is in the same complex as Marukai, Daiso, and various little restaurants and tea places. This complex is usually always busy but parking is still easy to find. This little bakery is small but their case is filled with soo many items! I wish to try everything but because I have a small laughable stomach and my wallet is crying, I opted for the 2 things that were recommended to me by a friend. I got the mini burnt almond cake and hazelnut bliss. Burnt almond cake- I ate this next to Peter's Bakery's BAC and yes, this is far superior. The sponge cake is soft, the almond pastry cream is sweet and delicate, the buttercream is creamy and buttery, and the candied almonds are caramelized and introduce a bit of bitterness to the whole ensemble. Delicious. Me and my boyfriend finished this whole thing in one sitting. Hazelnut Bliss- Also very good. It's like a cake version of a Ferrero Rocher. I like the chocolate outer shell and cute presentation. Overall I liked this place a lot. I will definitely try more things in their case. The staff was also very welcoming and kind.Until next time!
