Small Japanese eatery. There was a wait time but the turnover was fast. I ordered the karaage teishoku. That was a dry chicken thigh with just kewpie mayo. I didn't really care for it. My table mates got the curry which seems to be good. The soup that came with the meal was tasty. Service was prompt

I wish I could have tried the food here, but unfortunately, the service was so bad that we weren't able to even order. We came on a Saturday afternoon around 12:30pm. There were plenty of empty tables and seats. Sure, the restaurant is small, so we understood that they initially said that we have to fold up our stroller to fit inside the restaurant. So we accommodated their request. Note that when the waitress told us to fold the stroller, she didn't do it nicely either. Just said.. fold up your stroller or we can't seat you. We folded our stroller and put our car seat on one the chairs at our table, and sat down and prepared to order. The server came by again and told us that we can't have the car seat on the chair. The car seat wasn't in anyone's way, but the server rudely grabbed the chair with the car seat to move it away. At that point, I just wasn't having it anymore with the server's poor attitude so we got up and left without ordering or eating. We have been to restaurants with tight spaces and normally they would have moved a chair out of the way and allowed our stroller to fit where the chair goes. Or offered a high chair for the baby and found a place somewhere else for the stroller and car seat. Or been apologetic about not being able to accommodate us. There was no apology or apologetic attitude or offering us a high chair (which they did have). Just rude attitude and rude grabbing of our car seat.

Located in the Strawberry Plaza off Moorpark and Saratoga, this place is hidden in a little corner. Decorations inside are quaint - very much like a shop you might find in local neighborhoods in Japan. The walls are adorned with items off the menu and you can easily look around and see if anything piques your interest. Service was wonderful. The ladies working gave us ample time to look through the menu and were quick to refill our water when needed. Since it was pretty quiet when we got there, we were seated away from the other groups to give us space. However, before we got our food, a group of 4 showed up and were seated next to us as it was the only seating for 4 that was open. Oh, well - we were crowded for sure in that little corner, but not too big of a deal. The food came out and looked appetizing. I enjoyed the spicy takoyaki, but didn't care for the agedashi tofu. My spicy black garlic ramen - again, looked appetizing - but lacked any real depth of flavor. The broth was warm and had a slight hint of garlic, but I tasted more black pepper. The spicy was not spicy at all and the chashu pork, although cooked well, was only okay. I did like the egg, which was cooked to a good runny consistency. My friend didn't like all the cabbage in her ramen and ended up just pushing them to the side. It's a cute little restaurant to visit, but not a place I'd want to go back to.

Came here based on a recommendation and I was surprised by the quality of food. We got the black garlic ramen and tartar karaage set. Black garlic ramen broth is flavorful and only $14.5! (Which is lower than other ramen shop in Bay Area). Came with chasui though I think the meat is quite fatty and can be more lean. Big portion for karaage. Crispy and match perfectly with the tartar sauce. Be prepared to get in a short line as the restaurant is not big! But wait time is reasonable. Definitely will return again.

Try the tartar karaage! Huge pieces and amazing sauce. I wish they have more small plates options to be a real izakaya. This is more a casual quick ramen place now. Service is standard. Friendly staff.

I came a few times to Kahoo Ramen, but it's been a while. They redecorated (maybe a while ago) and added more menu items! It's got an upbeat Japanese dive bar feel. I like it. The ambiance is nice, simple decor with menus and drink items plastered all over the walls. The tables and chairs are stained dark brown, which gives it a slight elegance. There are several tables inside and at the counter seating. It's not really a good place for large groups. The service is polite and quick.Yaki Onigiri (grilled rice ball) with Tobiko. Deep-fried or pan-fried with oil. Though, maybe the oil got too hot and burned a bit, so the Onigiri didn't have a clean taste. I'll say just my order. Otherwise, crispy on the outside, with a salty savory soy sauce basted on the outside. The inside rice was nice and fluffy.Black Garlic Miso Ramen: Miso based soup, Chashu pork, beansprouts, eggs, green onions, corn, & black garlic oil. Ok, this came out piping hot! This gave me a chance to take some pics before diving in. The egg was a full sous vide egg, nice creamy yolk with a soft outside. The broth was delicious, earthly, and savory, but not as salty as you would think. I almost drank it all. The chashu was very thin and 2 small pieces, but very tender and well seasoned. I wish they gave more or thicker slices. The noodles were a good thin thickness, but I prefer it to be a bit firmer and have a bit of a chew. The beansprouts and corn gave this a crunch as you drank the soup and slurped away. Other restaurants offer the nori, woodear mushrooms, and bamboo shoots, which I love. But, their ingredients work for them.I'll be back to try their other dishes.

I've been coming to this place since I was a kid, sometimes nearly every week. I used to love their tanmen--the veggies had a perfect crunch, were well-seasoned, and came with nice pieces of pork in a light yet flavorful shio broth. Unfortunately, in recent years, the restaurant seems to have gone through a makeover or rebranding, and I've noticed the cooks and staff have changed, along with the entire menu. The tanmen is now called "Kahoo legit ramen," but it's not quite the same, losing some of the qualities I used to enjoy. That said, it's still a solid spot for ramen, especially if you like a good amount of veggies in your bowl. I might give it another try sometime.

Grew up coming to Kahoo Ramen...first time visiting in 10+ years. I'm glad they survived COVID.I was sad that they updated their menu to phase out their simple shoyu/shio ramens. Two of us ordered:-karaage $9.95, the fried chicken here is still really delicious, must order-yakioni mentaiko $5, crispy rice was good-black garlic miso ramen $14.95, ramen was ok. Not the biggest fan of miso ramen, but not too many options on ramen side nowDefinitely a great spot to eat! Excited to be back to try their other apps/a la carte items.Parking is super tough in the plaza.

Mixed food reviews here between me and someone else. I truly enjoyed the crab miso ramen. Good broth, soft noodles, large chunks of crab, and even corn (I like corn). The other person had the katsu dim and didn't like it. She said the meat was all breading. I tried a spoonful and thought it tasted good but maybe she's right. Also enjoyed a nice small bottle of warmed sake. I have to say, their place had an odd smell. Not sure if it was their cleaning formula or what.
