I'm glad I didn't read the bad reviews before trying out Kabayan. I was looking on Google maps for a place that looked interesting, and I saw the ingredients for the "Kabayan burrito". Since I am a big chicken adobo fan (the main Filipino entree I ever eat), I picked this spot...and I am so glad I did. The burrito was delicious: chicken adobo, garlic rice, mango, tomato, cilantro, and a sweet sauce (kind of like thousand island?) on the side for extra indulgence. Great mix of rich flavors. The portion was very generous and a great value for the money. I am definitely going back for this burrito!

I have only ordered takeout here, but I think their food and customer service are excellent. The restaurant was empty both times I visited, so I really hope that it gains more traction in the future. I ordered the lechon kawali for takeout for a potluck. Their lechon kawali is very crispy and delicious. I had to wait for my order because they make it fresh; it's definitely not like other Filipino restaurants where the food has already been prepared and cooked ahead of time. The cashier was very friendly. They always recommended other food for me to try, and it seems like they really take pride in their cuisine.

Kabayan is the best place for classic silog breakfasts like longganisa, tapa, tocino, chicken adobo, pork bbq, chicken inasal, pork sisig. pros:-lots of seating-menu has wide variety-tasty food!-clean bathroom-lots of parking-friendly ownercons:-ordered the adobo and it wasnt my favorite. LOVED the walastick, chicken insasal, and tocino

Kabayan Kusina opened where Kapok's was. Similar decor with a flatscreen added at front right corner. Inside dining only . Some orders are to go.Drill: order at counter, picked up food 10 minutes later. Offerings: breakfast, burritos, sides, appetizers, pork, seafood, noodles. Soups...Eats: Menudo-charged 18, listed @15.50-unlike Mexican version, pork meat, not tripe. -"pork stew" from braised pork meat in tomato sauce with raisins, carrots, green peppers, sugar, onions, garlic, bay leaves.-tasted overly sweet, pork was semi-chewy, not tenderObviously reheated, not made from scratch. 3ish stars for lackluster quality, "overcharging". Doubtful repeat. October is Filipino American Heritage Month.

I came across this place by being in Union City around 4pm and my gf been wanting pancit bihon for weeks. Knowing that there probably wouldn't be a restaurant who could match my aunt's, it couldn't hurt to see if this place came close. I ended up ordering:Pancit BihonChicken AdoboPork Sinigang (my personal favorite Filipino dish in general)The TL;DR:I would order all of these items again. I wouldn't say this place is driving 25-30 mins worthy but I'd eat here again. I definitely would want to come around breakfast to try their silog options. The pancit was pretty good. It had Chinese sausage and fried garlic on top. The noodles were well cooked and the portion was worth the price too. It's not comparable to my aunt's, my gf agreed too and that's very biased but had to put that in there. It was missing that (I don't really use this word seriously) umami. Chicken adobo: it was very "rich" in flavor and by that I mean oil, but that's how you know it's a real order of adobo. There was a good portion of meat and it had that familiar adobo taste. Pork Sinigang: It tasted like pork Sinigang and the pork chunks had a good amount of fat on them, the best part. It was packed with veggies like onions, okra, tomatoes, eggplant and (I think)mustard greens. I have to note that the peppercorns were oddly large but maybe they just weren't black pepper corns.

Good selection of foods. Not a big fan of their sisig tho. I love that all meals come with lumpia. though, the lumpia, some days doesn't taste the same, I'd still come here to eat. I feel like I've tried everything in their menu already. like what I mentioned, I'm not a fan of their sisig and Inasal. their sisig has bell peppers and japapeno. i don't think they should be there. the inasal taste like bbq because it's sweet but surprisingly really tender and juicy.

Very good Filipino food! I would suggest ordering ahead. The service is slow because they cook everything fresh. Totally worth it! Ambience is your typical hole in the wall restaurant. My friend and I ordered:1. Goto and Tokwa't Baboy combo plate: Goto was really good!! Love the garlic topping, egg, and crispy pork on top. Flavorful. No need to add toyo or patis. It was perfect! The tokwa and baboy was okay. 2. Tortang Talong - This dish was okay. I was hoping the eggplant was grilled. 3. Crispy Dinuguan - so yummy! Loved this dish. Just wish the pork was crispier. 4. Pancit Luglug - also good! I wish it had more sauce but overall it was good. Everything was delicious! I like that they had real silverware and bowls. I also appreciate that they used paper and plastic containers foe to-go orders. Thank you for helping the earth!I want to go back! Soon! So many dishes to try.

How did I end up here? Well, I had a 1st option, so awfully rude and my friend suggested we go here. We'll it's a new owner and much more friendlier than our 1st option. The food was freshly cooked I ordered the pork sisig with lumpia that came with garlic rice topped with an egg and my friend had the tapa that also came with lumpia, garlic rice topped with a fried egg. It was hot of the grill and very tasty. My friend ended up ordering a meal togo for her spouse. The ambiance was humbling, much nicer than what was there formerly. This not some fancy pancy place. It's just fine for a chill anyday when I'm hungry place to eat. It is going to be my goto from now on, especially when I'm next door doing my laundry. I thank them for being so kind and generous in our portions. We both left full and satisfied.
