Joy Dumpling

This specific restaurant location has always had good XLB (soup dumplings). Many years ago it was called Shanghai dumpling. Then it became something my else and now it's called joy dumpling.Here's what we enjoyed this visit: Mushu chow mein, which has medium to fat noodles in a Mushu pork style sauce. Green onion, pancake, which was fried to perfection. Fried rice. Beef noodle soup, which had an excellent broth and of course, three orders of XLB.Looking forward to visiting again.

Pretty good price for the portion size. Not the worst quality and not the best quality.We ordered a bunch of dishes to share and they were all equally decent. No particular dish stood out.

Food: A1 Xlb Juicy pork dumpling 5/5The skin is a good thickness and there's lot of meat filling!! The soup was thick, delicious and piping hot. While I do wish they gave more ginger and black vinegar at the start to have with the dumplings, the dumplings themselves are delicious. Easily the best dish out of everything we ordered B9 Dry sautéed string beans w pork. 3/5I was told by my family that this was a more traditional flavor. It tastes like there was some shrimp flavor but overall, there's not a lot of strong flavors. If the texture was more crispy/ dried, would probably have rated it higher. 116 Fish fillet in spicy sauce 3/5The mala spice was lacking in this but there is a sugar build in heat as you keep eating. The fish was incredibly soft and tender but because the fish was slightly colder in temp compared to the soup, it felt a little off. To pair with all the dishes, I ordered a bowl of rice. It took a few tries to have the servers bring a bowl of rice over. The rice was also very dry. Service: The service was slow but I did go during a weekend and during lunch. The place was quite crowded. Despite being run all over the place, the servers were cheerful and helpful! Ambiance: Loud. When I went, it was bustling! This is a place to grab a casual lunch or dinner but it's more of a go in and go out type of vibe. Overall, I'd love to give this place another try when it's less busy. The soup dumplings are delicious and worth trying again! The price point on the food can also be considered reasonable in comparison to Bay Area pricing.

Called ahead for takeout the other day and it was a quick and easy experience. Operator spoke English as I ordered using the English description along with the alpha-numeric menu code.Food was ready upon arrival. Parking is plentiful in the private lot. Dining is available indoors exclusively.Started off with the beef noodle soup and it was tasty. The noodles were fresh and separated from the beef broth with several chunks of tender beef.Moved on to the green beans with salted eggs and it was ok. Some of the green beans were stringy though... The green onion chicken appetizer was decent although the chicken wasn't super fresh.$20/head for lunch. Pay cash. ;)

YUMMY XLBs! esp the crab and pork XLB! i don't like that at DTF much but here at Joy Dumpling, it tastes superb!!! their salted egg tofu is decent too as well as pretty much any dish you order. if they had doordash, i prolly would get food from here more often as their hours are kind of short for operations.

We had some friends visiting in the area, so we decided to try this restaurant together from a friend's recommendation. All the foods were delicious! I especially like the soup hot for cold winter nights! Service was great! It wasn't too crowded, we were the first ones there at 5pm and few more parties came in after we finished eating around 6pm. Overall, I would come back to try other dishes!

Food is okay. We ordered a few of the dim sum items, a clay pot, some veggies, and a red bean pancake. Honestly all was just ok. Service was average. Standard go somewhere for Chinese food. We went on a cold day and it's a bit chilly in the restaurant, so bring a jacket if you're going in the evening. Overall, alright place.

Overall experience here was pretty good. Service was fast and the staff members were very friendly and kind. Ordered the Xiao long bao, dumplings, garlic green beans and green onion pancakes. The xiao long bao/ soup dumplings were my favorite, the right flavor and very juicy. The rest of the food were good, just lacking some flavor. Definitely will come back to try the other Xiao long bao flavors.

SERVICE (5/5) The service at this restaurant is nice and fast. The staff listened to my order and needs. The food was ready and warm. I only had to wait 5 minutes for my order, which impressed me. I didn't have to wait a long time, like 10-25 minutes. The food was ready quickly. (AMBIENCE 5/5) The ambience is great, with a cute mural on the wall displaying Taiwanese culture. I noticed that some older people like to eat here because the mural brings back memories of their childhood or visits to Taiwan. FOOD (3.5/5) The food was decent, but the tables didn't have any sauce or soy sauce on them. You can ask the waiter to bring you some. I haven't had the beef stew in a while, and it was just okay. However, the braised meat was really good and tender. The thin green pancake was well-made and warm. The Taiwanese clay pot was decent, but not amazing.

This must be the best SJB in the world, because they are out again for lunch on Sunday. So, I must come over on Saturday for lunch.... Boooo.Otherwise, their XLB are pretty good. Good overall experience.
