A paradise for mango lovers out there. This has got to be one of my new found favourite dessert/drink spots in south bay. I tried the Mango Coconut duo mix and loved it. It had black glutinous rice at the bottom, some version of blended coconut meat, diced mango and mango ice cream. The best compliment I can give to the dessert is it wasn't too sweet, I could actually taste the ingredients which is the first reason why I am definitely coming back here to try more items from their menu. The diced mango was delicious and the coconut was refreshing. I thought the coconut would have a pudding texture but it was more like a slush but a slightly watered down one. I wish it was thicker coconut for more intense flavour. The mango ice cream was okay. It didn't have a strong mango flavour.I arrived within 20 minutes of the store closing and it was still packed with customers. Although, inspite of the crowd, their service was fast. They were only giving out the desserts in to-go boxes. Not sure if that was because since it was late at night and they had to close the store within 30 minutes or they usually do that. One of the reasons for giving it one star less would be the small quantity you get for the price you pay. Maybe the jumbo size is a better fit. But it's still delicious and worth trying for mango lovers.

Mango is their game, many items with Mango. I'm a Mango Pomelo Sago kind of guy... the sweetness of mango, the tartness of pomelo, and the little sago balls just make this a combo that is a mainstay for numerous Asian dessert shops. HLS makes a good version although pricey for its size. Get the jumbo as the regular is not enough.Clean, bright seating area. Plenty of free parking in the large lot. Opens late for your desserting pleasure.

Very busy on a Sunday evening but service was efficient and we didn't have to wait long for our orders. We shared the mango sago, mango crisp, and coconut jelly with black rice. Honestly all of them were great and I'd get all of them again. Mango sago was very refreshing and you can tell the mango is good quality. Mango crisp was unique! Not too sure how to describe it, but it looked like fried tofu and ended up being small ice cream blocks with powder on the outside. Delicious and not overly sweet. Coconut jelly with black rice was good too. It was less sweet than the other two and had more of a neutral flavor. It was good pairing the coconut jelly with the mango sago. Store isn't that big and seating is limited. Plenty of parking in the Milpitas Square plaza.

We brought some friends and introduced them to this dessert place. We tried some different desserts this time.Mango Coconut Noodle (4/5). Icy, cool, and refreshing.Black Sesame Soup With Chewy Balls (4/5). This reminded me when I was young and growing up and enjoying these hot desserts like this or red bean soup. They enjoyed it and found a new dessert place.

Overall: 4.5/5 I love how they have pictures on their menu and a physical display of their drinks and desserts so we can reference.D3 Pomelo & Mango with Sago ($8.95): Wow, this was amazing! Sweet mangos, slightly bitter pomelo, creamy coconut - yum~ The combination of flavors and textures works so well together, creating a perfectly balanced and cohesive drink.D7 Mango & Coconut Juice With Crystal Jelly ($7): A solid drink, but not particularly special. If you're looking for something similar, I'd recommend the aloe jelly version instead--it's more unique. I suggested it to my dad, and he loved it.A8 Mango Coconut Noodle ($8.50): This is a dessert that's big enough to share. We thought the coconut noodles were coconut shavings, but they actually turned out to be coconut jelly. In the center was a light mango ice cream which I mistook for something else. I definitely prefer the drinks here over their desserts. However. everything that I tried at Huu Lau Shan, regardless of location, has been good so you can't go wrong with anything on the menu!

Ah, a refreshing taste of Hong Kong just a couple blocks from the highway. Mango lovers will rejoice for their handmade mango infused and enriched desserts!Sharing space with a plethora of Asian-run businesses for food, medicine and health services, and groceries, Hui Lau Shan, commands a presence right dab in the left corner of the mall. Although the mall can get packed during peak times, you'll likely get a spot on that side of the mall (or if all else fails, the street parking or malls nearby).Hui Lau Shan, a historical business originating in Hong Kong dating back to the 60s pioneered selling herbal teas in trolleys and also developed the mango sago beverage. This chain can be found in several spots in Asia and we are so lucky to have them represented out here in the southeast bay. Their emphasis on "handmade" definitely shows in the quality of their products and their abundance use of mangos, their staple ingredient in many of their desserts, is refreshing (both in innovation and taste). We happened across this shop while searching for desserts and decided to give it a try. Little did we know that we have actually come across this brand before while we were in Hong Kong years ago!Upon stepping foot inside, your eyes will light up to all the mango dessert replicas lining the right side of the room and will quickly dart to the refrigerated display case of their most prized daily creations, the durian pancakes and mango mochi. Up top, you'll notice the menu, however, the names for their items are a bit obscure and don't tell you too much about what you're getting. The little models still leaves a bit to imagine so asking the staff is your best bet if you're interested in any of their treats. Fortunately, the staff here are super friendly, patient, and accommodating; great service here!We ended up getting a few items to share but highlights and must-gets, in my opinion, include the mango mochi and durian pancakes. These are freshly made and pack the real deal inside each bite. The mango mochi looks like any other mochi from the outside but one bite in and you'll find out that you've been sent to mango heaven. In each one of these little round, chewy bits packs a big chunk of fresh, juicy mango. One bite is just not enough! Each pack comes with six but after sharing with others, you may want to consider getting one whole pack just for yourself! The durian pancakes have durian flesh topped with light cream and are encased in a thin, green colored crepe. You could probably fit a whole one in your mouth but we opted to cut them into quarters first. Each bite melted in your mouth as would a real chunk of durian popped fresh out of the spiky shell. We also tried their mango chewy ball which consists of fresh mango fruit chunks, mango ice cream, and chewy mochi balls all swimming in a pool of mango slush. This refreshing dessert is certainly shareable (if you're willing) and even comes in a jumbo size for larger parties. One of us also got the mango swirl which has green tea mixed with bits of mango. The tea is pretty strong in flavor and the mango adds a bit of fruitiness. This drink isn't too sweet so purists may enjoy this! I personally like the strong tea flavor but if you're looking for something sweeter, you may want to try something else. The dining space is pretty clean and tidy so after placing our order, we got our individually wrapped spoons from the register and decided to get one of the few tables to wait for our number to be called. When it was our turn, our items were already packaged up and ready for us to take on the go but we went ahead and dined in to soak in the lively atmosphere. They have a gender neutral bathroom so it was a great place to hang for a bit before our next commitment.Overall, Hui Lau Shan (HLS) is surely welcomed here with its steady flow of patrons and with good reason too - their food and drinks are tasty, unique, and perfect for any occasion or weather. Service is top notch and the location is super convenient. Mangos may be seasonal but visiting Hui Lau Shan doesn't have to be! Get your mango fix here any day of the year and enjoy a bite, cup, and even an entire bowl of their mango-licious treats!

My favorite place to get mango sago! They use real mangoes and it's apparent in the taste. I loooove their mango and pomelo sago which is priced at $8.95 - pretty standard for the Bay. The dessert has all sorts of textures and additional mango bits at the bottom. Their chewy mango mochi is also a star and recommended as a quick sweet fix!Don't think you can go wrong with any of the desserts here. They bring out the best of a mango

Came here on a weekday night during the week of Christmas and it was very busy! My friend and I were looking for a dessert spot after dinner and we decided to try out Hui Lau Shan. We were hoping to be able to sit and chit chat for awhile, but there was not enough tables since it was pretty busy and loud. There's some outdoor seating, but not much. Dessert wise, they were alright. Majority of everything is mango themed. They use fresh juicy mangoes for the desserts, but overall it's nothing to die for. The mango mochi was my favorite. Soft mango mochi with a fresh piece of mango inside! It is on the price for side for desserts, so just keep it in mind (6 small pieced for almost $12 a box). The mango chewy ball is one of their popular items. It was refreshing, but had no layers to it. Just mango flavored everything and the texture was slushy and chewy. Overall, an interesting dessert spot if you're looking for HK style desserts in the area.
