3.5/5.I kept Gavin home because he was sick. He developed a cold the next day after Halloween. He ended up having to go to urgent care and then to ER that weekend. Though they weren't able to fully confirm what we had, they believe it was bronchitis. I am a fan of DoorDash though I'm not proud of it. I can order anything to be delivered - I've had a sweater and a tumbler delivered because it's so convenient but eating pho must be eaten at the restaurant. He didn't want to go but I made him step out just for lunch. We were the only ones there that Monday. We were seated fairly quick and our server took our order rather quickly, too. A Pho Dac Biet for me and a Pho Gau Gan for Gavin. Their broth was ok, lacked depth... star anise, fish sauce, ginger, maybe bone marrow because it wasn't beefy whatsoever. The tendon was rubbery, definitely needed more cooking time. In my opinion they skimped on the bowl, too. I don't think I'm being fair because they are known for their huu tieu, so maybe I'll go back again soon to try it before I shun this place completely. Parking is terrible, so if you want to go on Saturday or Sunday, I suggest going early.

We came here on a Saturday afternoon and there was no wait! I came here with my boyfriend thinking it would be the same as the original Hu Tieu Nam Vang but it seems like they changed owners. The taste of the hu tieu is not the same. The noodle had a too sweet of a sauce taste. I honestly couldn't finish because of how sweet it was. I will say they do offer a good serving size and are generous with the meat/seafood toppings. Their pho is also ok.

People are sleeping on this hu tieu spot in SJ. I think this is one of the better (my top 3) hu tieu kho (dry) locations. I'm glad I gave this spot a visit and it was very good! The broth was savory and comforting. The noodles had the perfect bounce and chew that was complemented with the sweet and savory sauce. I love adding the pickled garlic to complete an overall balanced taste and texture. Not as busy during weekday lunch- it is a spacious restaurant.

Was craving Hu Tieu Dac Biet Kho so I stumbled onto this place on yelp and it did not disappoint! You can tell this restaurant is family owned which made me love it even more. Came in today and it was not busy on a Tuesday morning so we were able to sit anywhere we liked. This place has a really big menu with lots of different dishes to choose from which was great with everything priced reasonably. To start off, we ordered some shrimp spring rolls which I thought were okay. The spring roll itself was great and tasted very fresh but the peanut sauce for dipping was just way too thick for my liking. I ordered the well known dish here which is what I was craving hu tieu dac biet kho. I loved how flavorful the noodles were and how much meat and shrimp were included. My favorite part of this was the quail eggs that were also thrown into it. The soup on the side was very flavorful and I loved just eating it on its own. The soup also came with very juicy and tender meat which basically fell off the bone which I loved as well. Overall, this place did satisfy my cravings. It was very quiet inside and had a very chill atmosphere. The only thing that bothered me a little was the smell inside the restaurant. Other than that everything looked clean and the food was tasty. Service was also very fast and efficient!

I feel like every time I've come here, I'm always curious to see if they have been changing owners? Whatever, this place has a decent tasting dry hu tieu. It's never crowded when I've gone (usually daytime) and food comes out pretty quick. I will admit the front doors are open often so I almost never been here without a fly buzzing around. I'm not here for a nice time, I'm just here to eat real quick mostly. I also take full advantage of their chili crispy, pickled garlic, and pickled peppers.Service - 3 / Ambiance - 2 / Food - 4 / Price - 3

This review is for the pho only! The restaurant advertises pho in front of their store, so I expected it to be good. Sadly, I was wrong--it was the worst pho I've ever had. If pho isn't their specialty, they shouldn't feature it on the menu or in their advertising.I asked for my pho to be extra hot, but it arrived lukewarm. They also used regular flat noodles instead of fresh pho noodles. I left feeling very disappointed with my lunch.Service was slow too--it took 20 minutes to get two bowls of pho. On a positive note, the ambiance was relaxing, and the restaurant was clean.

I came to this place as I heard hu thieu is similar to the Cambodian kathiew soup I've been wanting to try. So glad I came to this late night gem!! The restaurant is spacious, clean and staff was friendly. My bf and I shared the #1 and it was a good portion size for the two of us. I'm glad that we got the soup on the side as the dry noodles itself were delicious.I added chili oil, hot sauce and hoisin sauce as toppings and it was sooo flavorful. I would definitely come back!

Hu Tieu Nam Vang is a gem for those looking to dive deeper into Vietnamese cuisine beyond the usual Pho and Banh Mi. Opting for either Hu Tieu Dac Biet Kho or Hu Tieu Kho never disappoints--the food is delicious, and the service is swift, perfect for a quick, satisfying meal. Plus, it's open later than most Hu Tieu restaurants, offering more flexible dining hours. Give it a chance, and you'll discover a whole new side of Vietnamese flavors you won't regret exploring.

The pho was very good! For the people that gave this restaurant a one star maybe you should communicate what you want first. I got the chicken pho and seafood pork noodle soup, you can ask the waiter to change your order with different soup base! Please don't forget to communicate what you want :)
