This place does get busy so if you are on a time crunch, I suggest you call to place your order beforehand. We came here after Gavin's Vietnamese/Buddhist class was dismissed. It's the temple diagonally across the street from here. I wasn't anticipating the wait because I had a few meetings w/ my team in SG starting at 5PM. Gavin wanted the 2 meat combo: bbq chicken and teriyaki beef and I ordered the loco moco. We also ordered 2 sides of macaroni salad. It was served in one container as opposed to 2 separate side containers. I did not try Gavin's but my loco moco was good, but I would have preferred more gravy. Their macaroni salad was tangy and creamy! Parking sucks. But good comfort food.

I had a racist interaction with the cashier Manuela and samantha .I came into to pick up a to go order from Samantha and Manuela , they asked my name I told them my name , they asked for a last name . I told them my last name . They still hesitated to give me my food . I asked them do i look like a William to you, they said no. I told them well that's racist to discriminate because I'm black and you don't think I look like a William that's discrimination. I asked to speak to manager and they denied , I asked for the managers name they denied , I ask for a phone number they denied. So I found the yahoo email on your site and it didn't work it's said email address not found .I would like a response from a manager asap or a will pursue legal actions.I have been coming to this location my whole life and have never had an interaction like this until today . This is unacceptable and I recommend training your staff better before this location closes due to discriminating practices in a diverse area. Thanks.

This place has always been an East Side SJ staple and glad it's down the street from my work. I love getting Hawaiian food because it's so delicious as it has a variety of exquisite flavors and it's the best bang for your buck.Chicken Katsu plate (5/5): This is probably everyone's safe order as you know it can't go wrong. I shared this with someone else and we were both full from eating this. The chicken was crunchy and moist at the same time. The Mac salad was comforting. I will definitely be back.

Grabbed a small bbq chicken plate. So tasty & perfect amount of food. The macaroni salad was full of flavor and tasted fresh. The service was quick and friendly. I honestly think I would prefer Hawaiian Drive Inn over L&L!

It's hard to find good Hawaiian food in San Jose...and the search continues. Basically L&L with some Korean options. But seriously. If I wanted Korean food, I'd go to one of the MANY really good Korean food places littered across San Jose. I really was hoping that this place would have what I was looking for but alas I could have just gone to another chain. People who think this is great have obviously never had true plate lunch.FOOD: Meh. It wasn't bad so don't get me wrong. It just wasn't good either. The beef was too fatty (I love fatty meat but not with fat you can't even chew) and the chicken was just plain. The mac salad was okay, but nothing you can't get anywhere else. The quantity was really good, but I'm really on the search for good quality Hawaiian food. Seems north of LA or the islands themselves it's a desert.SERVICE: Again, okay. Wasn't thrilled by the service. The place is pretty dumpy and they don't do much to improve the look. For seriously good food I can ignore some of the dumpiness, but you can't have both a dumpy look and mediocre food.COST: For what you get it's a heap of food! If you're just plain hungry and don't care about taste, this is great.

Hawaiian Drive Thru is hands down my favorite Hawaiian place for authenticity and taste. Don't let the name fool you--there's no actual drive-thru, but trust me, you won't mind once you taste their food! The portions here are incredibly generous, and the service is always speedy. I usually call in my order, and it's ready by the time I get there, or I dine in and wait about 15-20 minutes. My go-to is the 2 meat combo plate with BBQ chicken and chicken katsu sauce. I sub out the rice for fries and always get an extra scoop of their delicious macaroni salad. Their Spam musubis are perfect for a quick, on-the-go meal. My daughter loves them, and they're her favorite snack and meal because of how filling they are.If you're looking for a place that combines great taste, generous portions, and fast service, Hawaiian Drive Thru is the place to go!

Service was quick and kind! Always a great sign for me, we came for a quick dinner after work. The prices kinda scared me but it's within the expected rate for san jose. Nonetheless the portions were very hefty and the to go box was PACKED. Everything tasted good, the bbq ribs could use more marinade for my taste but my boyfriend enjoyed it. It wasn't tough at all and the katsu was sooo crispy. Their menu also had korean food options. I got a spam musubi, I wish they had put more sauce on that as well. But it was still a solid musubi. The hot dog looking door handle was very cute and silly.

Great place for Hawaiian plate lunch! Stopped in with my friend the other week and I got the Short Rib Plate, it came with two slabs of meat, two small scoops of rice and mac salad. Everything tasted good. I think it's better quality than L&L for sure. They also offer smoothies and Hawaiian shave ice on their menu, it's looked delicious but I didn't have any room! I wish I tried their Lava Flow haha I now have regrets not getting one!

This is our go-to spot for Hawaiian food. Parking here could be a pain depending on the hour you go, The staff is really friendly and fast. Got the protein plate with less carbs. This is plenty of food and enough to feed 2 people. They also have different types of masubi. This is a great, affordable spot to get a quick meal if you're in the area

Love this place. Great staff, amazing food and at an almost decent price. It has always been consistent and will always recommend Hawaiian Drive Inn for the food and kind workers. Parking is tight but it isn't their fault.
