Just picked up a box of Hamantaschen and, my oh my, they were good! YUM! Great filling and a delectable soft cookie dough. They are ever so fresh and tasty, and good sized too.A couple had the dough overlapped so far you couldn't see the filling exposed, like typically done, yet the surprise was quite nice.I would definitely get more!

So I've had the Challah bread a few times and it's very good I've made some savory bread pudding with it that my mom loves when I go make it for herThe chocolate covered Macaroons were are a pleasant surprise (macaroons are okay to me) But these were DELICIOUS!! So I dropped in for the Bagel pop up on Sunday to grab some bagels which were good! So I had two! I also grabbed more of the macaroons since I was there and shared them with my neighbors who also liked them!

So disappointed with the products at this bakery. The rye bread is not rye by my standard. Should be bleached dough with lots of seeds and a crunchy crust. Black n' white cookies are disappointing and undersized for the price. Challah is bland. Unfortunately for Grand Bakery, I grew up in the Jewish neighborhood of LA and have come to know what great Jewish baking should be. Regrettably, Grand Bakery doesn't measure up, but, no other bakery in the Bay Area does either. Sad.

I was pretty much raised on Challah growing up and Bagels, and its rare to fine one that I don't like, but to LOVE, is another story as one can doctor up any Bagel with enough cream cheese, tomato and fresh red onion. It was Friday night, this past Friday in fact, where I saw a bags of Challah and Bagels for an event I was attending. (House was incredible as Janis Joplin and the Grateful Dead would frequent in the good ol days with pictures of them throughout the house) Back to Grand Bakery's Challah and Bagels. I took One deep smell of three bagels in a bag which was in the kitchen of the home, and I knew they smelled familiar as they felt so soft and dense.....it brought back the best bagel I have ever had here in California from a bakery in Oakland, near my favorite BBQ spot. I later learned that the new owner took over this bakery and uses the same ingredients, methods, machinery, etc. IT made me think of this bagel I had years ago, and in a second I was back there. I was now caving them and wanted them.....of course it was the everything bagel. I got a Challah Loaf to go, and the next day I saved it for a long drive with a friend, and we both looked at each other and said at the same time, "Wow.....this is truly the best......right?......ever" I can't say enough good things, and probably why I am writing this small book. The Challah and Bagels are the best I have had, again in California. I can't remember much about the ones in NY, but do remember some I had in Montreal, Canada which were pretty, pretty, pretty.....good. Grand Bakery has my stomach and heart though Thank you, and so glad we met.

Grand Bakery is back and better than ever! Particularly their bagels are the real deal (maybe that's why Grand Lake Kitchen, with their very high bar, uses them). Move over Beauty's, these are real east coast bagels. Hand rolled, boiled and baked just like a classic bagel should be. And they're kosher. And for those who don't know, this isn't at the Grand Ave location anymore. They now sell out of The Food Mill in the Dimond, although you can also get their baked goods many other places too (Farmer Joe's, Berkeley Bowl, etc).

I got their LoxBox bagel delivered to my home this Sunday and it had everything I needed! 3 bagels, fresh ingredients to make a Lox bagel and it even came with a cookie. Would recommend for anyone looking for an easy way to make a tasty lox bagel.

I saw the great reviews and was super eager to try Grand Bagels, via The Food Mill. Honestly, I was disappointed. The flavor was stellar, but the texture was nothing to write home about. I am still looking for a bagel with great texture (not merely soft and chewy).

I love this place. It can be a little clunky to order but the baked goods are out of this world. Love the challah and macaroons.

Ordered the JFI Chanukah Box. Came in the morning on the day promised, and the baked goods were all amazing! Especially impressed with the macaroons, almond logs, Russian tea cookies, and hamentashen. These types of cookies (imho) can be overly dense if you try to make at home and aren't the best home baker, or can just taste not-so-great/chemical-y if you buy from a supermarket. Me: "oh, these can actually be delicious."The sufganiyot were also really tasty (as expected) and my favorite of all the things in the box.
