Tl;dr - chic minimalist ambience in close quarters; delicious cold pistachio coffee drink and Dubai chocolate cookie. Will be back to try their purist classic coffee drinks and cheesecake.Food/drink: Because I'm the basic-est bitch and fully aboard the 2025 pistachio bandwagon, I couldn't resist popping into GOODTHING coffee for their pistachio einspanner - seemingly the OG version of Starbucks' pistachio sweet cream cold brew. Loved the strong bitter cold coffee topped with a slightly sweet ethereally fluffy pistachio-scented cream that felt like a cloud. Other people in the shop seemed to be drinking hardcore coffee pour overs and espresso which (i think) points to the quality of their coffee. Keeping with the pistachio theme - i also tried their Dubai chocolate cookie which had spectacular flavor and crunch from the knafeh; the cookie texture was a tad on the cakey side.Ambience: The shop is impeccably kept and adorably branded; love their shade of blue in the logo and all the pale wooden furniture. The kinfolk-like publications make every photo taken here look editorial-worthy. Wish the shop were larger (I was here on a random rainy Thursday afternoon and there were only two other parties, but nowhere for me to sit except for a tiny bench in the corner - it was a cute bench though)

The drink and cheesecake were really good but I wish there was more seating inside and outside. I was looking forward to trying the pistachio matcha einspanner but learned that it's on a seasonal/changing menu. I got the black sesame einspanner instead and it was delicious. It also looks like the cakes sell out pretty quickly. I went around 10:30 am and they only had a couple slices of the cheesecake left. The Hokkaido cheesecake was sold out for the day. Definitely come early if you're looking to try the cakes.I would love to come back again to try another drink on the menu!

Y'all... it's been a LONG time since I genuinely enjoyed a cup of matcha from a cafe... since I came back from Japan and started making matcha at home it's been hard for me to find a really good place that's noteworthy. Goodthing Coffee, you are doing all the right things!I found out about this place from TikTok (hate to say it, but it's brought me to a place I'll support endlessly), and it ended up being 2 minutes away from my house. Crazy, right! I was hesitant to come at first because I didn't want to be disappointed, so many cafes are offering matcha nowadays but not making it live up to the actual craft. But Goodthing Coffee's Urban Angel was FLAWLESS. 10/10 drink. Absolute wonderful creamy top, a pistachio matcha einspanner with topped pistachios and lovely strong matcha taste. I added vanilla syrup for an additional $.50 and don't regret a thing. The barista working today (a really nice fellow Asian sista) made it filled to the top and I loved it so much. I heard that consistency is a big thing here, and that the drinks' taste and quality really depend on the barista. Glad that I got her today on a slow Wednesday (2/5). She was incredible at making my drink. I only hope that when I return (thinking of maybe coming back once every two weeks as a sweet treat to myself) she'll be working!

I was excited to check this popular coffee shop out after seeing it on social media. My friend and I stopped by on a Saturday afternoon and both got the Gui Hua Latte as we wanted coffee and didn't want anything too sweet. The Gui Hua Latte is essentially a sweetened latte with osmanthus syrup topped with dried osmanthus flowers. I really liked the flavor which was floral without being overwhelming but it was a slightly sweet for me. The store is fairly small with a couple of tables inside and outside on the back patio. It was raining this day so the outdoor seating was not an option but we managed to grab a seat on the bench near the window.

My friends and I were excited to try Goodthing Coffee after having seen it on social media. We came in on a Sunday afternoon. There was no line, but they were super busy with no empty seating; many customers were studying/doing work. However, we were able to order and get our drinks fairly quickly. I ordered the Urban Angel, which is a matcha latte with pistachio cream on top. It seems like they use and sell Rocky's Matcha, which I typically like. However, their matcha itself tasted watered down, and the flavor did not really come through. I loved the pistachio cream though--it added the perfect amount of creaminess, and I could really taste the pistachio. I would get it again just for the pistachio cream if it wasn't $9. The service was quick, and the space itself is fairly small. There's a few tables and seats, but it seems like it gets crowded quickly. I would consider coming back if I was in the area but wouldn't necessarily make a trip out for it!

I saw this cafe on TikTok and really wanted to see if their matcha was as good and authentic as it looked. I came in at 3:30pm on a Friday and it was pretty busy with people studying and only one person was working. This location is small but the vibe is very clean and aesthetic. All pastries were sold out when I got there. I tried the Matcha Einspanner. This was explained to me as the sweeter version of the regular matcha. This was about $8 and there was no size to choose from. The drink was very cute and they use natural sweetener. As a matcha lover, the flavor wasn't special and it tasted mostly like milk. Two stars for the ambiance and amazing customer service. I am sure the pastries are amazing because they look great but I will need to come back to try these along with their coffee to see if the matcha was the outlier from this cafe.

I stole a coffee from here. Hold up--freeze frame. You're probably wondering how I got here. I was on a run from my childhood to Burlingame Avenue, which has changed a lot since I was a kid. Bgame Ave or just "the Ave" as we called it used to be more mom-and-pop stores. It wasn't a destination for shoppers from all over the Bay to visit. I wanted to see this new coffee shop Yelp had recommended me while getting some exercise. I walked in semi-wet from some light rain (and also sweat.) It was pretty busy for noon-ish on Christmas Eve. I ordered an iced guihua oat latte and a matcha yuzu cheesecake. I went outside in the back to see what that space looked like and I scrolled Twitter. I thought quite a bit of time had passed and I heard orders being called, so I thought mine should be up soon. The woman in front of me was sitting at a table and the barista called out a hot drink and looked at me and smiled so I thought he thought it was my order! I'm non-confrontational so I thought they had misheard my order and I just took it--shortly after, they kept repeating my order! I embarrassedly went up and took it and explained what happened. And that kids, is how I got 2 coffee orders. I enjoyed them both while I nibbled on the matcha yuzu cheesecake. The flavor of the guihua oat latte (iced) was rich and sweet, but not overwhelmingly-so. Whatever the hot drink was--it was delicious as well. I took that to-go, ashamed to show my face inside any longer. That being said--they're busy and it was hectic! Wait times seemed longer than most coffee shops--probably because there were so many orders. Service is good, ambiance is good, drinks are good, the baked goods are good. Clientele seems to skew younger and also families! After my error, they'll probably be more vigilant of drink-stealers when calling out orders.

I think this is by far my favorite matcha spot in the Bay Area! I had stopped by twice to grab a matcha (before they became popular on social media) and there was generally no wait. Their quality beats all the other matcha places out there and the staff are very friendly. Parking isn't too bad around here if you get lucky. Only downside is that there is minimal seating since they are a small shop, so might not be the best if you like to sit at cafes to study or get work done.

I stopped by since I saw this place on social media. I ordered the matcha yuzu cheesecake and a pistachio einspenner. The matcha and lemon were a good combination and it was not overly sweet. The cream top for the coffee was perfect as it was creamy and the right amount of pistachio flavoring. The inside is small with minimal seating and has a modern cafe vibe. The staff were nice and friendly.
