Flea Street Cafe is one of our favorite restaurants anywhere. The food is consistently amazing - with a constantly-evolving menu of delicious options. The service is also consistency top-notch. Both the indoor and outdoor seating environments are terrific. The founder & owner (Jesse Cool) remains very involved in the business - often visiting diners' tables to check in.If you're looking for an incredibly-good dinner in a lovely setting, you will enjoy Flea Street Cafe.

An upscale restaurant located near Stanford University. When you walk in, it feels like you're inside a family home with cool artwork on the walls. Very romantic and intimate ambiance! We started the night with delicious bread and biscuits served with potatoes and butter. The biscuits were soft and tasty, but the bread was ordinary. The braised short ribs were well-seasoned! Soft and flavorful! It was served with ricotta chive dumpling. I think it could be paired with more sides. We ended the night with soft pumpkin pastries! Staff was knowledgeable of the menu.It is a wonderful restaurant if you're looking for a cozy and intimate dinner, but food is overpriced.

I've known about the Flea Street Cafe in Menlo Park for 40 years or so, but last night was the first time I went there. We invited a couple of friends to join us to celebrate my wife's birthday. The restaurant has a really nice ambiance inside. We were seated at a 4-person table overlooking the front of the restaurant. We started by ordering drinks. We had read that Joan Baez is a frequent diner and likes Lavender Lemon Drop, so two of us had that, and my friend and I had the aged Manhattan. Both drinks were great. I especially liked the attention to detail in how the Lemon Drops were served with a refill amount in a small bottle of chilled ice.We started with a garden salad and Brussels Sprouts; two had salmon, my wife had the vegetarian-tasting plate, and one person had the braised short ribs. Overall, all of the food was fantastic. We appreciate the excellent service we had from our waiter. Overall, it was a delightful evening. The place was expensive, and I knew they put a 20% service charge on every bill. I'm okay with that, though, and I look forward to returning for the next special occasion.

This place is def on the top of our list of restaurants. Pricey, but the quality of food is great. We had a reservation at 5:45pm on a Saturday evening and it wasn't too busy when we arrived; however, that quickly changed as the night progressed. We appreciated the lady at the front on her attempt to get us an outdoor table, but after a "no" then "yes" then "no" again, we ended up w/ just keeping our table inside. The distance of each table was perfect, as that allows privacy for each table. Based on our experience, some places, esp for tables of two's are arranged so closely together that at some point, it just becomes awkward to hear other ppl's conversation and vice versa. FYI, we sat just right behind the main entrance door, next to the glass window and close to the kitchen (which wasn't loud at all). Our waiter was extremely friendly, polite, attentive, and knowledgeable. We had ordered a couple of appetizers and entrees and shared a dessert, all of which were perfectly seasoned (less if anything) and Michelin plated. For appetizers, we ordered: McFarland Smoked Trout (a bit basic) and Grass Fed Steak Tartar. For entrees, we ordered: House Made Ricotta Chive Gnocchi (delicious w/o it being overpowering. One of the best dishes I've had), and Pasture Raised Bone-In Pork Chop (similar to something at Selby's and this was by far way better, hands down). For dessert, we ordered: Just Peachy. I don't even know what to say about this. It tastes just as good as it looks. Get it if you can. We also had an opportunity to chat w/ the owner and that was a nice addition to our dinner. Honestly, it kinda reminds me of chef Ramsey a little bit. It shows a lot about their character and their love/passion for the food they create and the restaurant they share w/ people. I appreciated that.Their vegetables are fresh and home grown and you can definitely taste that. Their menu changes so if you've never been here, I recommend it.

TLDR extremely expensive for the food so don't go unless someone else is paying. I came here to meet a new friend and I believe based on location and the price the clienteles are mostly VCs.The restaurant is very unassuming in a tiny strip mall that's almost like a small office building that some boutique VC firms would choose. I didn't even find the restaurant name so I had to rely on address to make sure I'm at the right place. The interior is much more welcoming and service is good. Btw they already baked in the service charge/tip at 20% in the check so don't add more at the tip line at the check (I think that's super annoying they don't make it more clear on the check). The food is ridiculously expensive. I don't know why they name the restaurant flea street when they charge so much. A tomato soup is over $25 and a vegetarian option entree is over $40. It's not the price per se but what you get for the price. The other options are even more expensive at some over $70 (if it were like aged steak or something then the price might be justified but nope). Anyways I think the food is way overpriced and I didn't even care to take pictures of the entree and that's probably telling. Btw nope the vegetarian food is very under welcoming and I only ordered it because nothing else looked appetizing and the guy paying is vegetarian. So go there if someone else or company is paying or if you want to impress the wrong kind of partners. And do not pay any more tip because it's included unless you really want to.

I have been to this place couple of times. Recently, we had a date night and decided to come again. The welcome was quite nice, ambience cozy (all tables full and restaurant buzzing), the owner walking about and asking how things were going and waiters attentive and polite. I had a non-alcoholic pomegranate margarita and it was delicious. I'm giving 3 stars primarily for food quantity/quality ratio to prices and the predefined mandatory 20% service charge. We had two starters (arancini, sunchoke soup) - both very nice and comforting. We then ordered the braised shortribs and the pork - 49$ and 45$. Neither was bad, but I'd say I probably cook braised dishes better at home. Both bland, with relatively small quantity and cantina style presentation not adding up to the very high price of each. To finish, we had the double fudge dessert and to be honest I just don't understand. A restaurant that charges ~50$ per dish and then moves to 16$ dessert, serves a plain brownie with a safeway ice cream and some Hersheys type artificial chocolate sauce on top. It was nauseating - why not make at least the chocolate in the house? I was bummed cause I really looked forward to the dessert. Overall not bad, but for the price you certainly expect class and taste when it comes to food. If anything, they should hire a better chef and I think they got it.

It's been about 25+ years since I last visited Flea Street and happy to make a return visit. Food is delicious and always changing based on the season and highlighting local products. When you dine at Flea Street you taste the freshness of each ingredient and how well they complement each component. :: Brussel sprouts - crispy, with pomegranate, butternut squash and creaminess from the pecorino - probably one of the best I've had at a restaurant. :: Risotto - creamy rich, flavorful with parsnip and Parmesan ($39) - delicious and decadent...and a bit extravagant with no protein :: Miso Black Cod - perfectly cooked, flaky, with a light miso broth. :: Date Cake - when received it was a bit laughable as it was literally a small, ramekin-sized cake cut in half and presented on the plate. It was delicious and not overly sweet but for $18 was expecting a bit more.Food, service and ambiance wonderful but definitely an indulgence and priced for the affluent area of tech companies and for me...well, when I redeem my Costco Rewards Certificate! Price/person with the above and drinks, above, healthy living tax and added 20% (you can add more if you'd like) is about $120/person.Lot parking available and gets busy by 630pm

Flea Street is such a warm and inviting restaurant with amazing food that I would describe as Farm to Table Californian. They have ample vegetarian options also. Bryan said they are updating their dessert menu. They change up their menu to include seasonal item as that are locally sourced. This is a great date place, especially when on a date with my friends and family. Big bonus points for a sophisticated and inclusive non alcoholic drink menu. As a non drinker I appreciate this so much. The service is impeccable and reminds me of Las Vegas in that one never needs to ask for a drink to be filled, or a plate to be cleared. I'll be back, perhaps one day with a romantic special someone.

We have eaten at Flea Street for more than 25 years. And always have loved it. We came for the halibut that was listed on the menu online the day before he made the reservation and when we came, they did not happen, This was a disappointing experience. First thing is that they did not seat us in the location in the back room that we desired. Saying that we could not be there at all, but others were seated there later. While some of the dishes were delicious, especially the roasted broccolini and the scallops, the portions seem smaller than ever, and we felt rushed between courses. There's no amuse bouche any longer. For dessert the ice cream was not good and the chocolate sauce was not warm and they double billed us for a scoop of ice cream. I would stay over the years the feeling has diminished from its original quiet, elegance .We are sorry to say this is the last time we'll be going to this restaurant .
