I drove by this place before, looked at the review and then checked out the menu and decided it's too expensive and not sure what the identity or the style of cuisine was so I decided not to try.Until a group of friends wanted to try it so we did. It turned out much better than expected. Black pepper steak - Sweet and soy sauce pan grilled the tender steak engulf in black pepper sauce actually taste really good. Winter melon in the pot - Spicier then expected for a veggie dish. Not bad. Fried pork - Probably the one dish that was a good deal. As an appetizer, its portion was big. Flavor is good but you will need to like cumin since it powdered with it after frying them. Shanghai veggie rice - this rice was done very well. Not too oily and good combo ratio on veggie and bacon. Still felt it's bit overpriced. And the lack the identity of cuisine it is will also impacted the future popularity of this restaurant. The chef was from San Tung but it didn't have the typical San Tung dishes like 乾烹雞or 炸醬麵. At least some of the Shanghai dishes were done well. Nevertheless, still pricey.

TLDR: Tasty, interesting, and authentic dishes, but it's really hard to justify the price point for what you get. The menu is pretty eclectic across various Chinese regions, but focused on various spicy dishes, plus Shanghainese. Not gonna lie, the menu seems very confused. Dishes to try: * Fried pork - fresh, juicy, and tasty! This is a huge portion and a surprisingly good deal* Pepper beef - portion was slightly small, but the beef was tender and tasty* The fried prawn dish (I forget the name) - crispy and really well seasoned. A must try* The veggie+bacon rice. A Shanghainese classic. Always tasty and a slightly guilty pleasure. I probably won't come here too often, but I'm willing to give the other dishes a try as well.

Food Quality & service doesn't meet its price tag . Poorly cooked Black pepper live bullfrog with so much batter, definitely not worth of $48 . The manager on duty didn't bother to response when I addressed the issue.

[Embrace Luck] Seemingly higher end Chinese restaurant located in Mountain View, CA 1. Sautéed Clams 2. Chongqing Mao Xue Wang 3. Hotpot Pickled Cabbage Fish & Soup4. Jinli Mushroom Combo 5. Winter Melon BO This restaurant was very aesthetic and gave off this sort of serenity vibe. The food overall was decent nothing that was bad. I feel as though this restaurant was a little out of place. Everything on the menu was spicy like everything we ordered and some items we wouldn't expect such as winter melon, etc. We also asked if they could make it not spicy for some guests in our party but they said no so I'm confused as how they can't just not make it not spicy. The wait times was a bit long. The selection was quite small, the portions were also small, and the price was quite high. I just feel as if this restaurant is sort of odd and out of place. Like it wants to be a nice establishment but the food quality isn't of such except everything is aesthetically pleasing. 6.5/10 286 W El Camino Real Mountain View, CA 94040

Foul fish. Called 911. Eel fish was foul and tastes like rotten. Complained to manager and he said there has been numerous complaints on their eel fish food source already, and they will not do anything about it!In the end, we called 911 on the spot. It is a public hazard in our opinion.

A solid place for authentic Chinese food! Came on a Saturday night at 8pm and waited 30 min. Overall took off one star since it's quite pricey, probably $35-45 per person. The demographic is very Chinese heavy, and everyone speaks Chinese!Notes: - When you come in, there's a QR code on the wall to join the waitlist.- Once your name gets called, they hand you an iPad to order on ahead of time. - At the table, there's disposable chopstick TIPS that you insert into the bottoms! This was new to me but my friends said this is common in China.- The big soup dishes are huge, can definitely feed 4-6 people. You first drink the soup, then ask a waiter to turn on the stove and throw in the side raw veggies to boil.Interior decor is nice and modern! Service was very fast and efficient.

Yes!!! Finally a proper authentic Chinese restaurant in Mountain View. Ok even for the 3/5 dishes I'll order again. Overall super solid (and some rarely found in Bay Area!) favors and fresh ingredients. I live within a few minutes drive from here and can see myself getting takeouts often.

I'm a bit surprised the ratings are so low here. This is one time I don't agree with the Yelp fam. I guess the past reviews were based on when they first opened and they were just starting up.The food here was delicious. Everything ordered was just right with great taste. Out of the 4 dishes, the Shanghai stir fry shrimp was the best. The shrimp were cooked just right and there was something unique tasting to my palette, with the right balance of savory and fresh-tasting ingredients. The Shanghai fried rice, duck and crispy pork intestine were also exceptional. The intestine was super crispy and did not have a strong taste. The fresh and spicy garlic complemented this dish very nicely. I had a fresh plum juice as well, which was refreshing and tart for dinner.I like how they have one-time use chopstick tips. The menu ordering is done through an iPad. For a Friday night, they were busy and we had to flag down the waiters. The ambience and decor inside pairs well with the authentic Chinese flavors. The service was great. Shoutouts to the waiter who saw me taking pictures and helped me with the lighting for the shrimp photos.
