This was some years ago, overdue review. Haven't been back! I used to stop by here every now and then, but after what I saw, NEVER AGAIN. A whole rat ran out the kitchen, straight into the wall heater in the waiting area like it owned the place. I couldn't believe my eyes. Rats? Really?It's bad enough to think about something like that happening, but to actually see it? Nah, that's a whole other level of nasty. Y'all serving food out of there, and this is what's going on? Absolutely disgusting.Y'all need to get it together because this ain't it!

Egg Roll Kitchen is right across from the notorious Chico's Liquor, smack dab in the heart of the hood. Walking in, you're immediately hit with signs laying down the law: no paying with all change, no sneaky business with orders, and you get one sauce per item unless you're ready to part with 25 cents per extra shrimp. Rules and regulations galore. The decor? yeah this isn't my usual spot, but my dad swears by their house chow mein, so I had to give it a shot. I ordered double meat, threw in an extra four bucks for it, and when I opened the box, it looked like the meat decided to take the day off. Seriously, check out the pics--barely a sliver of meat on top. But after a few forks down, there was some.Honestly, it was super greasy and salty. Not my type of thing, but I could see the appeal if I was drunk, car-less, and had to walk here from Eastmont Mall. From that perspective, this would be a glorious find. But if you have a car, just drive anywhere else.If you actually from this area, you've definitely seen the chef in his apron, smoking a cigarette out the side door before, tell me Im lying.Thanks for reading, and until next time, keep those taste buds adventurous!

The food is ok.......egg foo young is great shrimp fried rice is on point & what I check for is to see if the poop on the shrimp is cleaned fron& back b4 frying or sautéed & it's fine.....remember this a cash only spot no debit or credit here....

The location isn't the greatest, but it's definitely worth trying if you aren't alone. The egg rolls are really good as well as their fried prawns. We will be back for sure

Taste excellent! Best spot in East Oakland! Very fair prices. It would be top knotch if you could find a decent parking spot.

When I say THEE BEST house fried rice in Oakland hands down !! I will choose them over Tastys anyday ! The House fried rice so dam good it's damnear better than Monkey King Crab fried rice . Go and try it for yourself , Thank me later ! lol

Usually we go next door to Szechuan kitchen but they were closed due to being out of the country. My husband and I decided to give this place a try! The service was excellent, they were very friendly! The prices were cheap and affordable. We order the number 1 combination comes with pork fried rice and 6 fried ribs. The food was absolutely delicious! The only difference between Egg roll kitchen and Szechuan Kitchen is Szechuan gives you bigger portions but egg roll kitchen is slightly better with the flavor.

I'm so disappointed in the low quality food, the photo speaks for itself, but I will explain, pork meat should not be brown, it's brown because it's old! I would feel so guilty feeding this to anyone, but they have no shame, they are not sanitary as I saw a man get up from his seat, did not wash his hands,also their were flies in the restaurant and the "pre-fried" fried rice was "uncovered" as it sat their in the open free for anything to land on it., and although the pre fried rice was already fried sitting in an open container, he grabbed about 1 cup of oil(and I bet it's not a heart healthy oil), and he grabbed the pre fried rice and put it together and they BARELY PUT ANY EGGS OR ONIONS IN IT which is so frustrating as you are fishing around for it, they also had the nerve not to cook my dried fried ri s fresh, they were between cold and lukewarm in temperature, but I can tell those would have been good had they been cooked fresh, i was so hungry that i still attempted to eat the food and after a few bites i threw it all in the garbage...i guess that must be why they only accept cash as they dont want you to dispute the charge on your credit card. These positive reviews from others regarding this restaurant probably stems from those that don't know fresh food or were paid or recieved a discount to put up a nice review, in addition, this restaurant has been there for a trillion years, it's no way it would have so little reviews unless somebody canceled the original yelp and created this new one so it can look like they are a 4 star restaurant, but unfortunately it's not, I hope they not only read this review, ut DO SOMETHING, stop feeding outer people old pork and bad quality food, and always make those dried fried ribs fresh to order
