The food was amazing and service was exceptional here! Kind of pricey but it's to be expected for being in downtown Pleasanton. Our server was very sweet, patient, and attentive. Everything we ordered was just delicious. Very flavorful and fresh. I regret not getting a photo of every dish we ordered! The restaurant itself was nice and clean. We will definitely return the next time we are in the area. Thank you for the great lunch!

Had been here on Christmas day. Eating Chinese food has become almost our annual family ritual When most of the businesses are closed, you get to discover these hidden gems! And we are glad we did. It is your usual neighborhood kind of eatery without much of frills. Staff were friendly. Service was good. Prices were decent. Menu was not out of the ordinary but food was. They took care of our special requests and prepared the food with care. It was presented well and also tasted such.My personal favorite was garlic noodle. It was well cooked and very flavorful. Appetizers were well made too. We ordered vegetarian food. Spice level was exactly as we requested. I liked the way they asked about our preferred spice level on a scale of 1 to 5! Entres were a bit on the greasier side and a bit more sweeter than I would have wanted. I will ensure to ask them to tone it down for me next time. And that means, we will be visiting this place again ! Thanks to the staff at Dragon City. You guys ensured we didn't go hungry on a special day and how !

Food and service were outstanding! My kids and I ordered chicken fried rice, salt and pepper pork chops, orange chicken and chicken chow fun. Huge portions and everything was delicious. And they give you Chinese hot mustard upon request.

TLDR: Good Chinese American Food. Great Onion PancakeMy wife and I really struggled with this review. On one hand, we really do want to support small family-owned restaurants. My parents had owned 2 restaurants (not at the same time), so I know the struggle. However, on the other hand, I also want to give my honest review. Mostly for myself, so I can remember if I been to a restaurant before, and what I thought of it.Let's address the big elephant in the room. This isn't a Chinese restaurant catering to Chinese people. You can tell right away, if they have forks as a setting. I'm not saying Chinese don't use forks... it depends on the dish being served. If it's on a plate, then yes by all means, use a fork. For EVERYTHING else, it's chopsticks. At least there wasn't sugar dispensers, soy sauce, and chili on the tables as well! The waitress was very friendly and nice. She spoke to us in English, although we could hear her talking in Mandarin to the back. The restaurant was very clean and a bit artsy. The onion pancake was DELICIOUS. It's kinda home-made, which is great. I've had many supermarket-reheated pancakes before. This was handmade, with LOTS of onions. The outside was flaky, and it wasn't too doughy at all. We both loved it!I liked the chicken wings myself. We ordered the sauce on the side, because my wife can't handle spicy anymore. The sauce wasn't that spicy... it had a bit of a kick to it. The sauce was a bit more runnier than a normal sticky chicken sauce. I think it would probably taste even better if the sauce was cooked with the chicken. But I thought the chicken was cooked well, the meat tender. The wonton soup was... just... mediocre. Very "americanized". The wonton skin is very thick, and the soup didn't have any depth of flavor. It was just chicken broth.Lastly, we had the Eastern Style Boneless Ribs. In chinese, it was called "Wuxi Spareribs". Oh! My grandparents are from there! I love that dish, let's get it! What we got was actually... BBQ pork (Char siu) with rice. That was a complete let-down. We were both a bit flummoxed by THAT decision. And the bbq pork wasn't that great, to be honest. All the meat was chopped up, almost minced. If you are Chinese person, looking for REAL Chinese... this place isn't for you. You'd be better off going to the Chinese center near the outlets. However, if you are looking for a bit of Asian in the classy part of town, then give this a shot.

The food is not bad, but it's not too great either. However, the prices are like those in popular SF Chinatown restaurants. You end up paying almost double that of comparable restaurants. I understand it's Pleasanton downtown, but I've been to Mountain View downtown Chinese restaurant which is cheaper than this, so it's not a very valid excuse.

Visited this restaurant on a rainy evening in November. Who doesn't love hot Chinese food in such weather, when you also have good vegetarian options available too.Garlic Eggplant appetizer was on the sweeter side and was cooked perfectly. Chow Mein was also very good. Kung Pao Tofu was lacked flavor and gravy. Was expecting an explosion in my mouth but there was none.Service was fast and every dish was served hot and fresh.

Dragon City knows flavor! This is my go-to Chinese food when visiting Pleasanton. The salt and pepper calamari is the star dish. A light and crispy batter is accompanied by an assortment of peppers and onions. A crunch that melts away to the delicate flavor of the calamari. The staff is super friendly and they always remember my special requests and extra sauces. I don't even have to ask. Guaranteed in the bag! They are located next to a bar with live music on weekends. If dining-in, expect to hear some local bands seeking international rockstar fame.

Great flavor! All our dishes tasted fresh and savory. We were craving Chinese food. Stumbled upon this restaurant. Almost a little hole in the wall. I never noticed it there before. Glad we came! We'll be back for sure. We over ordered a bit for 2 people but great as leftovers. My favorite was the salt and pepper pork.
