Daiki Sushi is my absolute favorite AYCE sushi place in San Mateo. The quality of the food is top notch, with matching service as well. The staff there are always friendly and make me and whoever I'm with, feel welcome. Since I've been to this restaurant over a dozen times, I know the full methods of ordering from their vast AYCE menu. The method is "pick any 3 from the list, but no duplicates for each order" per person. You can still order AYCE of any item, but they must be separate orders. Really like tempura shrimp, unagi nigiri and spider rolls? Only want to eat those same three items the whole time? Just finish all of what you order, then order the exact same three items again. Easy and tasty! Or if you're wanting to sample a lot of the menu, order a variety of things. This works well with three or more people at the table. If each of you starts off with 3 rolls each (table of 4), 12 rolls will arrive and everyone at the table can start having sushi roll pieces with a nice variety. The great part is that the staff is really attentive and are very fast at making all the food on the menu. They even start giving you blank menus (for you to fill in) while you're about to finish your current orders, so you don't have to wait long for your next food orders to arrive at your table. The cost is also very reasonable, especially if you pay cash, to which they will offer a cash discount. Paying by credit card offers no discount, which makes sense, since the credit card vendors charge the establishment to use their services. Keep that in mind if you go; Paying with cash gets you a discount! I'm so glad I found this place a few years ago. When I have the desire for AYCE sushi, Daiki Sushi is my go-to place and I tell everyone about it. Daiki Sushi is the best!

I could see why this place is rate 3 stars. It wasn't good but it wasn't bad. I had high hopes for this place. Always saw it as i drive up el camino and finally decided to try it. I did the ayce option which is well worth the price but i felt like it was really flavorless. Good portion of rice to fish ratio but the fish didn't really have that fish taste. There somehow wasn't even a taste. I tried nigiri, rolls, hand rolls and still nothing. The only thing that gave me flavor was their sauce. Their edamame was made very well and it seem fresh as it came out with steam coming out. Service was decent. Not super attentive but enough that when i ordered someone came promptly. parking was a pain in the butt. Their parking lot is limited and is shared with other stores. Around them is a lot of car fixing places so street parking was very limited. I ended up having to park across el camino and walk. Overall: will I come back? No.Do i regret trying this place out? Also no. Just not my cup of tea but it certainly was to some customers.

I went here for lunch on Saturday and they only had one other customer. No wait time is great however, please note that the entrance is in the back (handicap ramp) and parking is very very limited. Service was friendly and attentive. Price is very reasonable. Kids are half off the price! The cuts of fish were nicely sized but the amount of rice is quite overwhelming. Each piece was definitely an entire mouthful. The nigiri was densely packed with rice. I felt full having only two pieces. No complaints about the fish just the large ratio of rice to fish. The shrimp tempura was tasty with the light batter and crunch. Next time, perhaps I will try more side dishes than nigiri to avoid the abundance of rice for a different experience. This is a great place if you have a tremendous appetite on a budget!

Overall: Great service and price quick food, lots of rice depending on the item ----We came in on a Sunday around 1:30pm for lunch. We had 10 people and there was no wait time! The price was great for all you can eat sushi for $23.95! There is 10% off if you pay in cash and there is a 15% auto gratuity for parties 5 or more.To order, use dry erase markers on the laminated menus and write the number of orders you want for each item you want. ----Sushi Rolls:- My favorites were the Threesome, Hamachi Avocado, and the Lion King rolls- The Threesome rolls is described as having tuna, unagi, salmon, and avocado but today it had tuna, salmon, and some sort of white fish (maybe hamachi?) and unagi sauce, no eel meat- Not much variation in sushi rolls, most are California rolls with different sauces or tempura shrimp- Rolls are quite bigOther notes:- Nigiri and hand rolls have too much rice, a lot of rice compared to fish ratio- Wasabi is very strong - Shrimp tempura comes with 3 shrimps per order- Veggie tempura is good with a nice variety like broccoli, pumpkin/squash, sweet potato or carrot, onion, and zucchini - Street parking available - Staff was really nice and fast - Noise level is low with soft music playing in the background- The TVs have sports playing on them with closed captioning to readOverall: Great bang for your buck for all you can eat sushi, only $23.95 and even cheaper with the 10% discount with cash payment! I recommend the Threesome, Hamachi Avocado, and Lion King rolls. Service was really great!

I would have loved this place in college. It's your standard cheap AYCE sushi. For this price, you cannot expect extremely fresh fish. If you like sushi rolls, it's the place for you. If you just want sashimi, go elsewhere. There's a lot of rice added to the nigiri. It's 10% off your bill if you pay with cash. Cleanliness: standardParking: 5-6 spots out front Service: There was an older gentleman who served us. He's definitely a hard worker!

Daiki is hella good. They are way more affordable than the other ones in the area. The people are nice and there's plenty of seating. The staff isnt much, but they get the job done and are very accommodating. The food was good, it's decent sushi. What I don't get is people who want to quality at a certain price. I mean there's a reason why some places arent AYCE. They still have to run a business you know?Would come here again.

Every time my husband and I (.. and daughter!) crave for sushi, we always come here for the AYCE weekday lunch. For $23.95 per person + 10% off when you use cash, it's completely worth it! Yes, the sushi doesn't taste super fresh, but what can you expect? It's pretty much decent for the price.

Me and a couple friends came here yesterday. It's all you can eat sushi for about $35. We left the restaurant very filled and it's satisfied. The staff is also very friendly and accommodating. Your food comes out very fast. The ambience feels like I'm in Japan with all the fixtures. The staff here is also nice and accommodating.

I've been wanting to try this spot for a long time now and I didn't want to let the reviews push me away so we came on a Sunday lunch time finally. To start they had an almost empty restaurant and they tried to seat us at a dirty table. Once we were able to order the list of items were plenty and for the low price it was bad. This has been the worst sushi I've ever had. The fish was NOT fresh, everything had a lot of rice or filler. Very think or small pieces of fish and we struggled to finish our items because we also started to feel nauseous from our meal. They tasted so bad we could not swallow a lot unless we chugged water. If you're just getting the miso soup, the salads or the tempura then this place is really bad. Unfortunately I won't be coming back to give them another try and I'm glad I finally tried them.

My boyfriend and I wanted AYCE sushi and decided to give Daiki a try, since we were in the area. We visited on a Monday for dinner and arrived pretty much around opening time (5pm). Their ordering system is 3 items per person, per order. There was good variety of rolls, hand rolls, sashimi, and appetizers. The service was not very friendly. After we got our first round of food, we noticed immediately that the rolls were drenched in sauces. It was so much that I had to dab some away with a napkin due to the sheer amount of sauces on top. I was immediately turned off by that. One of the rolls I ordered was a hamachi roll (yellowtail). I couldn't finish the roll because the fish did not taste fresh. To top it off, we were not given water and had to ask for water cups to be brought to our table. Overall, it was a sub-par experience and I would not come back. There are plenty of better sushi options out there with good quality food and service.
