Country Gourmet

I've been coming here since I was 4 years old. My favorite was always the French toast. 30 years later I have get to find a French toast that's quite as good. The place has a homey, old-time feeling. Along with a delicious meal, come here for a coziness and nostalgia!

Country Gourmet has online ordering and curbside pickup. Total win.I love their gluten free egg Benedict on cornbread. Their pozole is also pretty good. They've got ample outside seating and lots of parking. It just makes everything easier. Service is great and their staff is always helpful.

I knew I was in for something special when I pulled into the parking lot at prime brunch-time on a Saturday morning and the parking lot was as empty as the tables. Seriously, this has to be the only place around where they not only brew coffee to order, they also plant the beans, harvest them, roast them, grind them, brew, let it go cold and _then_ bring it to your table, or at least that's how it felt waiting for a simple cup of coffee. Disclaimer: it took 19 minutes for my coffee to arrive, so I know they weren't roasting to order, but the rest still stands. Then there's the food. Not much to say here other than despite being served quicker than the coffee (maybe I should have reviewed that first?), my French toast was cold - not just 'sitting on the pass too long' cold, but more like 'taken straight out of the fridge and passed under the bathroom hand dryer' cold. And inedible. Oh, and the 'maple syrup' listed on the menu isn't actually Maple Syrup (isn't Maple Syrup a protected product?)Now I know why you order and pay for your food first... you're more willing to pay when you don't know what a ride you're in for, and it's harder to get your money back.

I especially like the food here. I always feel well nourished when I leave here. I'm glad I tried their winter arugula salad that was featured on their blackboard special menu. My husband ordered a half Benedict it was delicious and came with some wonderful potatoes. The only irritation was that our tables were not bused.

10/19/2024Country Gourmet1314 S Mary AveSunnyvale, CA 94087I was in the area on a Saturday morning and tried it for breakfast. It's at the corner with Fremont in a shopping plaza so lot's of parking. I ordered the Mongolian Beef & Eggs off the chalk board at the order counter and given a number stand to take to my table. The interior is a clean tile topped table and chair arrangement with a divider to separate dining areas.My dish and table setup were brought to me shortly. The order consisted of cubes of beef, asparagus slices and scrambled eggs piped with Sriracha sauce over long grain rice. The beef was a little chewy, some of the asparagus was fibrous and chewy and the rice was a little hard. The gravy was a light coating and not very sweet, good. I would request more Sriracha the next time. Service was good with check -ins and other tables got their coffee refilled.The breakfast menu was limited, you won't find a Chorizo Scramble, Corned Beef Hash or Chicken Fried Steak here. Prices are reasonable. I would repeat for the Mongolian Beef, if they have it, not many places serve rice with breakfast in the area.

Food is always delicious, took a friend from out of town and they loved their breakfast burrito. Perfectly filling before a day on the golf course. Enjoyed some of their blueberry coffee cake. Plus is always a win! Perfect weekend spot for brunch. Love how they run their service of ordering first.

Very good to excellent place for breakfast and lunch. Many healthy choices on their menu as well as some standard American fare. You order at the counter and they deliver to your table. You also get your own water. Very popular with locals. Many specials every day. They have both indoor and outdoor dining. We've been coming here for 20+ years now and have sampled just about everything on their menu.

Finally had a chance to try this neighborhood breakfast spot recently with a friend. He had a country breakfast and I had an omelette with a pancake on the side. Their standard pancake is a wheat pancake instead of a typical buttermilk pancake. I was skeptical, but it actually tasted pretty good. With their breakfasts, they offer country style potatoes but not hash browns. Overall the breakfast was fine. Service was minimal. I probably wouldn't rush back.

Vegans! Call ahead and see if they have their split pea soup that day. It's SO good! All fresh vegetables and homemade! Tons of veggies in it! Vegan menu lacking otherwise. Please get a vegan meal on the menu! They up charge for soy milk which is out of style now because Starbucks doesn't even do that. It is discrimination against people that don't drink milk from animals.

We have been coming to Country Gourmet two to three times a month since we moved here in 2013. We find there is really no other restaurant in Cupertino, or the surrounding cities, that are nearly as good. The food is continuously delicious, with varied specials, and prepared with nice presentations. The staff is always friendly and helpful. The restaurant is so clean. When weather permits, the outside dining areas are so comfortable, fenced off from the parking lots. Many thanks for offering such a welcoming place to eat and visit.
