Com Tam Thanh

This place added a new name called 'Pho Newark on top of the old Com Tam Thanh. Everything except the menu choices remains unchanged. Owner, food quality, etc. Parking: plenty. This place is big you will guarantee a table as soon as you walked in.Pre COVID: the menu has so many pages, lots of offering where you don't know what to get. Post covid: the menu shrunk down to 2 pages, front and back, with limited items. Price also had gone up significantly. I would never guess that a rice plate would cost up to $20+ each. But the quality of the rice plate remains the same, portion wise. This place allows you to substitute an item with an egg for no charge. So I substitute my shredded pork rind with a sunny side up egg. Sorry, forgot to feed my camera until after I broke my egg into pieces so the yolk can flow into the rice. Overall, the rice plate is good and I would go back again.

Love that this place is open late! We were craving soup so we decided to try this place out. Large restaurant with plenty of seats. We ordered a chicken salad, combination pho, grilled chicken, and two thai teas. The pho was flavorful in broth, the grilled chicken was tasty, but two stars docked off due to the chicken on the salad not being cooked thoroughly. I still dream of the thai teas! Service was fast and easy and payment is through a self service kiosk which did not give us a problem. Overall, would give other dishes a try.

Com Tam Thanh has been a favourite of mine since a kid. Yesterday I visited and I hate to say that unfortunately this place has entered its downfall. I remember they had a vast amount of options in the menu especially for pho, but now they have one pamphlet that's double printed, therefore the menu is extremely small for how spacious this restaurant is.No option for tendon, no flank, no tripe, and I believe the only meat they had was rare steak and brisket (maybe meatballs if I can remember?) and if you wanted extra meat, it's an up charge of $6. I got regular Pho soup with brisket. The food quality itself was okay. I've honestly had better pho but the portion is pretty big for the price. However, the rice plate disappointed me. $20 for a rice plate that's PACKED with rice and barely any meat (I ordered chicken) which also came with a spring roll and drink. For the small portion you receive, this combo should be $18 MAX. It came with sauces and soup too which were great compliments to the meal but I was still disappointed for the total of our meal ($40) for two items and small portioning from the rice plate.The service was great, they certainly were fast with taking our orders and receiving our food but unfortunately it's not enough to increase my score. I advise you to pick a different Pho place if you're in town, but this is still a good option if you're unable to find any.

This place is spacious and it's conveniently located in a strip mall with plenty of parking! The place is clean with ample seating. Service was, it was excellent! The lady who assisted us was very nice. It was our first time so I asked for recommendations. She proposed Bun Bo Hue or Bun Rieu. I ordered the Bun Rieu and was a bit disappointed. The broth was a bit too sweet for me. My friend enjoyed it though.Service - 5 starsFood was okay.

We went on a week day as the service was very quick and friendly. We seated immediately with water. We knew we were walking into a hidden gem when we passed the karaoke stage. We got a chicken pho #16, #30 bun thit heo nuong (vermicelli bowl) and #1 spring roll. I'd like to start off by saying I've gone to many pho restaurants but have never had pho with chicken that isnt dry. The chicken in this pho was so moist and juicy it felt like it was straight off the rotisserie and they were definitely not greedy with how much was put in. Broth was great too! The vermicelli bowl was very flavorful with the meat and the sauce really brings a lot to the dish. Our comment was that the peanut sauce from the spring rolls did not have a strong peanut flavor. Other than that we loved this restaurant.

Pho broth is good. I'll likely continue to come back for the broth. I'm glad that they've updated the noodles and reduced the amount of noodles to match the portion of the soup given. Prior, there were more noodles and less soup to cover. Although it would have been better to increase the soup portion and keep the noodle portion, considering that price has gone up to a whopping $18 per bowl. But I do understand inflation and I get it. I do appreciate that theyare listening to their customers in a sense to accomodate the concerns.

Ordered the chicken com tam combo that came with either a spring roll or egg roll and a soda for $20. Taste was solid, but the portion size was not great - was bit skimpy on the chicken. Overall, decent spot but not great value for the price

This is a great pho restaurant! I've been to its sister location back in Milpitas a few times (finally closed) and I thought the rice plates were better than their soup dishes. This location in particular is big with lots of spacious seating, clean and spotless, friendly staff and owners, etc. the food is also brought fresh and clean. We ordered their egg rolls, wonton noodle soup and regular beef pho. I thoroughly enjoyed the wonton soup with its seafood broth. I thought the wonton was just ok; it tasted like shrimp balls instead and not that typical Chinese wonton taste. I also thought their eggrolls were just ok too. These were slightly bland with the meat not thoroughly cooked. I've had better elsewhere but maybe it tastes better to someone else?! The pho is delicious and so clean tasting. The broth is hardy, lots of noodles, and a nice amount of beef. We're huge fans of their housemade chili oil. It has a nice garlic taste and this subtle sweetness which matches perfectly with everything. They might have the best chili oil yet, as far as all the pho places I've been to not including TK Noodle lol. To me, this is the best pho spot in the area and we'll most likely come back for more whenever we're in Fremont.

I love eating food fresh at the restaurant but when I just want to stay home, I'll DoorDash banh mi sandwiches from this location. It's affordable and is absolutely delicious! It might rank as my favorite banh mi sandwich. I never eat grilled pork, but I tried it for this sandwich and it was so good. Even delivered, the bread was toasted and crispy and the meat was tender and flavorful. When my husband tried his sandwich, he was also impressed how good it tasted!It's the first banh mi sandwich I've ever craved and I hope this restaurant stays open so please support them!

Absolutely delicious broth. Usually I put a decent amount of hoison sauce and siracha in my pho but the broth was so flavorful I didn't need any. The people there are super nice and place is extremely roomy. A bowl was around $18-20 which is quite pricey but the night I went they had a deal for buy 3 bowls get 1 free so it wasn't too bad. Would definitely recommend trying !
