City Diner

Haven't been here in awhile and it's way better than it used to be. It was always good spot for breakfast, but now it is bomb af. The churro French toast is freaking amazing. So good. Had a combo and all the meats were seasoned and cooked just right. Place is super clean. Staff is great, on top of it for sure. 10/10 this place is in the breakfast rotation.

The breakfast was trashThe worst coffee I've ever had in my life I should've gone to black Bear diner which is excellent in comparison to that and there are other places in San Jose that put this restaurant to shameThey charged me $3 for one extra eggI only had three over easy eggs that was so oily it was disgustingAnd two pancakes and fruit a little cup of fruitIt was $27 I repeat three eggs a little cup of fruit and two pancakes $27. And the coffee that was the worst coffee I've ever had was $4 if you're looking to have the best coffee Petes coffee of course is it but this restaurant I would never go back to again. I don't know why it got four stars it's not worth it not even a little bit.

My favorite part of going here is the service. So attentive and friendly, I couldn't ask for better service. My second most favorite thing, of course, has to be the food. There's so much variety. From breakfast, to lunch, to dinner. From appetizers to their vast selection of old fashion style milkshakes with the extra served on the side.Their pricing is competitive but portions are generous so you definitely get your money's worth(we always have leftovers enough for another meal).This is a photo of the taco salad I had today...delicious! The fresh pico de gallo was perfect with it. For dessert...get the flan...it's so rich and creamy...yum!

I've been to City Diner a few times, and it's my go-to spot whenever I'm craving a milkshake or burger.Food:Mushroom Swiss Burger (5/5): I love mushrooms, beef patties, and cheese, so this is the perfect choice for me. The food comes out fairly quickly--usually within 10 minutes. The burger portion is large; I couldn't finish it in one sitting. I upgraded the side to sweet potato fries, and they were delicious!Strawberry Milkshake (3/5): I usually get the cookies and cream shake, but this time I decided to try the strawberry flavor. It was a bit heavier than I prefer, but that's just personal taste. If you enjoy thicker milkshakes, you'll likely love it.Parking: There's plenty of parking in the plaza, so finding a spot is easy.Service: The service is consistently good. The server takes orders promptly and checks in on us regularly.Environment: The diner has a relaxed, retro vibe with nostalgic décor. It's a great spot for a laid-back meal.

We loved their nostalgic ambiance and enjoyed their foods. Services were friendly and attentive, refilled coffee often and make sure you have everything you needed.

This was a sad ass breakfast. We use to come here often a few years ago. Decided to try it again after so long and it was the most basic breakfast anyone could have made at home. I gave 2 stars because the Latino staff was great, but it came off like the caucasian lady with the glasses was only focused on serving the Caucasian families with her best Customer Service. She handed off any Latino families to the Latino staff. Not sure how to feel about that. I'm willing to give her the benefit of the doubt, but it was so obvious that it was hard not to notice it. Save your money.

I'm not going to spend a lot of time doing a review. I was on the hunt for a good milkshake and I found it! I got a hamburger to go along with it and it was huge and good! I left a happy girl, what more can I say?

City Diner is a casual diner/breakfast place in San Jose near the Los Gatos Creek Trail. It's known for its milkshakes and unique decorations. They offer a $10 pick 3 breakfast combo and a diverse variety of breakfast foods. The service is great - our waiter topped off our coffee quickly and was very nice/accommodating. The savory food itself was a bit expensive and flavorless but could be fixed with s&p and ketchup. The pancakes were super fluffy and sized well.

Had dinner there Saturday night and at one point we were the only people there. My husband had the eggs Benedict and said it was great. Unfortunately I ordered the prime rib dip. It was the worst thing I've ever had. The "dip" just some greasy stuff with some fat floating on it. The "prime rib" was just some left over beef and not much of it and had zero flavor. Same with the dip stuff. No flavor at all. I think they just defrosted the meat and whatever juice they added grease to it and served it. Horrible. I ate a few bites of half of it and left the rest. Fries and chocolate shake were great. Stick to the breakfast items. They are always great.
