A little hidden gem. Prices are a little high, but the quality was definitely there. Not too oily and not too salty. Beef and lamb was incredibly tender AND JUICY! My favorites were the chicken skin and eggplant. So delicious! My friend also loved the gizzard and intestines too. After 8:30 PM, they only serve BBQ and cold dishes. So be aware if you come before closing. Everything came out quick and the staff were nice enough to show us the menu/refill water.

A homey place to try Chinese skewers . There's beef, pork , lamb , bacon wrapped enoki mushrooms . Meat is grilled on charcoal . We saw the family bringing charcoal to the kitchen . I can definitely taste the smokiness. I don't if it is just me but the rub for the chicken , lamb , pork and vegetable tastes the same to me lol. Of course the meat has different textures but the ma la (numb spice) was definitely there . It is a little pricey but filling . Chicken was a bit boney for taste . I wish there were more vegetables options to give some break with all the meatiness and grassiness . They have one vegetable dish which is spicy vegetable soup with mostly glass noodles .Service was great . Staff is diligent in refilling my water . Everything was very family style .You get 5% off for paying Venmo or cash

Under different ownership I believe but been going here for 4+ years. Great skewer with perfect fried pork. Kinda small space but it does its job.

Chef Yangs is one of those places that has 3 stars on Yelp, but in the good Chinese place way. Newer places that are super flashy and neon *cough Discovery Fusion BBQ cough* make me grateful for places like Chef Yangs. You order from your phone and can easily order more if you realize you did not order enough. I feel like I go to this place mainly for the skewers, but I have seen people order other dishes/mains. The skewers actually have meat on them (unlike a certain flashy place) and are more worth the price. The flavor isn't overpowering and it isnt over seasoned. I am a beef and lamb fan when it comes to meat skewers, but the chicken is also good.I always get the Bbq a vegetable for some greens and it's never too fibrous or chewy. Just right. And my absolute favorite item is the sugared buns. It's not overpowering in sweetness or saltiness. The slightly sugared crust just hits the spot. While prices might have gone up, I still think Chef Yangs is a pretty solid affordable option for skewers in south bay.

I've tried many Chinese BBQs in the area, and this ones beats them all in my favor. The seasoning flavor is perfect, I always get BBQ Beef Kabobs, Sweet Corn, Steam Buns and Cucumber salad. I recommend if mom is there she makes it the cucumber salad the best seasoned. Service is great, Mia is the best english speaker, she is great at social and customer service. Cash, venmo to go orders and card accepted if eating in.So I recommend trying it, cause I love this place.

Chef Yang's BBQ is interesting. It's a Chinese restaurant that serves rather tasty food, skewers were made rather nicely, but the service gives you a very ominous presence and feeling. While the servers are nice themselves, the cold facial expressions hoovering all about the small restaurant just kind of give you an off feeling. But let me be clear, they were nice and willing to help--just didn't seem that way. That said, the food was pretty good. We got a number of skewers (beef, lamb, chicken, beef tendon, fish tofu, tofu skin, bread) and we ordered a plate of Yang Zhou Chao Fan (Yang Zhou Fried Rice) and the Gou Bao Rou (battered fried pork). I didn't particularly like the chicken skewer. Thought they were cooked too dry and overly seasoned. The Yang Zhou Fried Rice seemed a bit overly salty. The other items were delightful. Really liked the Gou Bao Rou--done nicely, really enjoyed the beef and lamb skewers with their pockets of fat over the lean meats, giving a nice textural contrast. The fish tofu was nice and soft. Prices seemed a bit high for what you get, around $3 ish per skewer, but being in Cupertino, I think you'd expect that. Plenty of parking in the adjacent lot, but it's small (both lot and resturant), so I could see it filling up quite quickly. They do take reservations. I would visit again, for the food. Saw a lot of to-go orders.

For a party of two, we ordered 3 beef skewers and 3 lamb skewers, 2 bacon wrapped enoki mushrooms, 4 chives, 2 fried buns(?), and a bowl of rice. Was way more tha enough food, and next time can definitely order less chives (2 was probably enough). The quality of the meat and other food items are very mid at best and are just good late night food.Service here is mostly in Chinese, we kind of had to seat ourselves. You scan the table order QR code and get ordering. Pay at the end, and they keep bringing your skewers to the main dish you have in the middle of the table.Very small space restaurant, so you are pretty tight and up close w neighboring customers.

My boyfriend and I were wandering around the plaza for a place to grub for dinner. The smell from Chef Yang's BBQ drew us in! There was no wait for a Sunday evening. We've always gone to Ft BBQ for our Chinese skewer cravings, but will definitely be coming here from now on. You order on your phone and the skewers come out quick. Each skewer is around $3 and it can stack up quick so I would recommend adding an entree. We opted for hella beef & lamb skewers along with chicken skin, green beans, fish balls, sausage, and buns. We also got cold noodles and pork and chive dumpling. I would pass on the cold noodles next time. It wasn't memorable as there was no flavor. I wish there was more dumpling options too. My favorite skewers would be beef, lamb, sausage, and the buns. The buns was perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.Service is quick and there's plenty of tables for a small restaurant. The utensil we were given for the cold noodle was dirty and we had to clean it ourselves but it was okay. I would love to try their fried rice next time!

I loved all the dishes here. They're super flavorful and not too spicy. My favorite skewers were the Mushroom skewers, Fried Bun, and Premium Lamb. The food comes relatively quickly. It's a small homestyle restaurant that packs a lot of flavor! The food is not very expensive, about 3-4 dollars per skewer. Excited to be back.
