Friendly but slower service. LIVE Ants in the fruit punch. Chips & salsa were good but the shard of plastic in the salsa kinda killed it for us. Kids meals are large portioned. House margaritas on the rocks are more than generous in size but the alcohol content isn't too high.

Located right by Santa Clara University, parking is limited and difficult to find. The interior is decorated nicely. The tables are relatively clean.Calix-mex supreme burrito (4/5): I wouldn't have expected anything less. This burrito was really loaded and I definitely had my fill. The chicken was tender but the beans made it feel a little mushy.Overall, Calix-mex is a great Mexican restaurant. The portions are a good size and the food is yummy. They also serve complimentary chips and salsa.

This is a cute place right outside of SCU. The parking is tight so be careful backing in or backing out. But it's a great place, super casual and delicious. We had a party of 10 and the food came out in a decent amount of time. The complimentary chips and salsa was fantastic. All dishes smelled amazing coming out. We were out walking the dogs and we came upon Calix-Mex Bar & Grill. This is a new super casual restaurant that took the place of another Mexican restaurant at this same location. The old place was closed for a while, so we were happy when we heard this place was opening up. We're always up for trying out a new neighborhood spot.We were greeted by our server, who welcomed us with a big smile and some chips and salsa. She even asked if we wanted water for our dogs. The salsa served with the chips had a nice kick to it - spicy but not too overwhelming. I'm a huge fan of spicy food, so this salsa hit the spot. We decided to try some street tacos (corn tortillas filled with tender pieces of grilled chicken topped with onions, cilantro, and green salsa, garnished with some Mexican limes). The tacos were great. I ordered the enchilada plate, which was 2 corn tortillas with chicken, red sauce, and of course cheese. It was served with red Spanish rice and refried beans. The enchilada and the beans both needed a bit of seasoning, but a quick sprinkle of salt on both did the trick. The red sauce on the enchilada had a bit of spicy heat (mild but with a bit of warmth from the spice), which I loved. Parking - There is street parking out front, plus they have a parking lot in the back of the building. It's conveniently located near SCU, and as it looks like they have a good happy hour I suspect it won't be long before the students discover this joint.We enjoyed checking out this new restaurant. 4 stars for the food but boosting this up to 5 stars because the service was great, plus we appreciate that they have a dog-friendly patio. Big bonus - the server was super nice to our dogs, so that's always a win. If you're near the University, check this place out. They have breakfast too.

10/10 for lunch experience. Welcomed by staff and seated in bright and spacious side room. I am a salsa fiend and appreciate the homemade salsa and fresh tortilla chips. Meals come with salad. I love their cilantro/jalapeno dressing. I ordered Mole Enchiladas and friend had their chimichanga. Both were excellent. Great prices and quality ingredients. My new fav. Wish them well in this location.
