Cafe De Roxy

Thanks to Cafe De Roxy, I got to try something new! Per her Instagram (@cafe_de_roxy), a Dacquoise sandwich is a Japanese adaptation of a classic French dessert. It's consists of two light, chewy almond meringue cookies with a flavored buttercream in between. I purchased a 5-piece "Bite Size Box" for $16 via Instagram DM. As of now, you can pick up your order between 11 am and 12 pm on weekends in Santa Clara. I was expecting to pick up the cat-shaped treats she often posts pictures of, but I didn't realize the Bite Size Box comes with smaller, oval-shaped ones. Would've been useful to see that distinction in writing somewhere. That aside, her Dacqoise sandwiches are the perfect "not-too-sweet" dessert! The box came with one of each flavor, including:- Matcha Mochi: This one was my favorite! The fresh mochi in the center added an extra chew to each bite, which I loved. The matcha buttercream itself had a pleasant bitterness that's reminiscent of pure matcha tea. If that's not your style, maybe try another flavor. - Strawberry Cream Cheese: Tastes just as advertised! Both strawberry and cream cheese flavors are pronounced in this one. Not artificial or heavy-feeling at all.- Double Chocolate: Really impressed by the depth of chocolate flavor here! It leans dark chocolatey as opposed to milk chocolatey. - Vanilla: Simple, yet effective. I could see little specks of vanilla bean in this one. So wholesome! - Pistachio: This one's a seasonal flavor. I had high expectations for this one, but the pistachio flavor wasn't as strong as some of the other flavors I tried. Maybe that's because the nuttiness of the meringue cookie overwhelmed it.Considering the size of the cookies in the Bite Size Box, paying around $3 apiece seems like a bit much. But I'll acknowledge that this kind of dessert is a rarity around here. Packaging is cute and totally giftable. Would recommend this place to any dessert adventurers and cat lovers! Her full-size, cat-shaped Dacqoise sandwiches are just as tasty as they are cute :-)
