"My boyfriend's family has been coming here for decades. This is the staple Chinese food restaurant in WG! The chow mein here is the best thing on the menu. The broccoli and beef was kinda greasy. Price is ehh, we paid 74 for 3 things via DoorDash including delivery costs. They never mess up the order which is great and they're always quick. There's actually quite a busy group inside the restaurant too if you want to sit down. Will keep coming back."
"Been wanting to try this place for a long time. Wifey and I met up a friend who started working in Pleasanton for a Tuesday night dinner. Got distracted and forgot to take photos of the food haha. noOb mistake. We ended up ordering the boiled fish with bean sprouts in hot chili oil, Shanghai-style deep-fried noodles, and cumin beef. The boiled fish was really good but lacked the numbing spiciness I was expecting. The Shanghai-style deep-fried noodles were okay. Think deep-fried chow mein noodles but with the texture of funnel cake topped with corn starchy toppings that made the noodles soggy. Meh.Lastly was the cumin beef. I liked this dish the most. Strongly seasoned beef with onions and peppers.Despite being a slow Tuesday with only two other tables, service was another miss. I had to ask for rice several times. But what really upset me was that I had to ask for ice water at least 5 times. I mean, when you name a restaurant Fiery Shanghai, the customers would liked to have some water to cool down the "fire".Speaking of fires, maybe the workers were trained by the City of Los Angeles because they acted like there was no water. I literally had to walk to the register and ask for ice water. At the end of the day the food was okay. Fiery Shanghai. Not as "hot" as I thought.* What's with the strange ass interior decoration that makes each table look like a bed frame? When I was paying, I had this hilarious interaction.Worker: Where you from?Me: Livermore Worker: Where you born?Me: Glendale. Oh... I'm Korean lol. Bye."

"Great food and very friendly service. Our eight person group of colleagues spanned a range from Caucasians who aren't very adventurous to Asians who love Sichuan (and a few in between), and everyone was very happy. One star removed for the bathroom where the toilet was broken."
"Walking down University Ave and just enjoying the evening when we came across this place. And suddenly we were hungry. Amazing food! Definitely recommend this place!"
"Food was served out fast once I called in to order for pickup. Small sized restaurant. Delicious Szechuan food. Eggplant in garlic sauce was yummy with their rice. Shredded pork in garlic sauce went well with everything.Fish filet in hot chili oil warmed up my body in the winter season. One can't go wrong with ordering any of their delightful entrees!"
"Authentic Chinese food. Portions are larger than other restaurants. Service is great. We have been coming here for years when we lived in Dublin. We always come here when we travel back from Idaho. Soups, fish dishes, 辣子雞, 外婆豆腐, 豆角茄子 are a few of our favorites. I highly recommend."

Solid Chinese food, but nothing to separate it from anywhere else. Good in a pinch if you need it.

Everything was so good. We had the XLB, fried noodles, and green beans. Contrary to the restaurant name, these items were not spicy. The restaurant was decorated elegantly. There's a private corner for a large party.

Love this family run spot. Great service and unique menu. Not necessarily going to find every item you may seek at a larger sichuan restaurant here but what they have is delicious

This is our favorite Chinese food spot and it's consistently good! The customer service is always friendly and upbeat, even when they're busy. Only downside: portions are small and food is expensive. But that is what you tend to see for the area.

Was in the area and got turned onto this place by a few friends. Was so good, we went twice in 2 days (once dine-in and once takeout). Both were amazingly good.Highlights: cilantro beef, dry hot pot, cumin lamb and spicy wontons. But everything else we got was good as well (although come prepared to eat some spicy food!)Service was warm and very good... was like dining at a family member's house. Would definitely recommend!

I had better food experience here with noodle soup and other dishes. However, the dishes today was not up to par. Most likely I won't return because it's oily. Puff Bean Curd Mushroom was too sweet.Eggplant spicy SzechuanSliced beef tripe

This restaurant is a little far away from my home, but we still visit it once a while, the most special food I come for is the fry sticky rice cake. I could not find this elsewhere. All other dishes are good with reasonable price. Worth a visit when people are tired of South Bay Chinese food

Tasty Malatang. Was a bit disappointed when I came in and I didn't see the ingredients out for the Build Your Own Malatang, but you can customize your Malatang on the online menu. Soup was tasty and not too greasy and the ingredients (meat, fishballs, veggies) were tasty and fresh. Good amount of food too.Definitely would come back.

"It's been a few years since my last review, and I think it's time for a well deserved update. It seems the majority of my issues with Fey in my previous review was heavily caused by food delivery services. Per Fey's recommendation to order pickup instead, all the issues we faced earlier have been resolved.Their food consistently has been high quality, decent portion sizes, and their pricing hasn't spiked too much in the past few years so I find them as my go-to Chinese spot whenever I have a hankering."
"We have been Malatang fans ever since we used to frequent Bow1 in Newark (RIP). Had been meaning to check out old street for some time and finally made it out during lunch today! Both our bowls were $20 and it was a lot of food! It is a solid spot, but I was not blown away. Pros - large portion- quality of meat (thin beef!)- good spice on the spicier options- sauce bar- easy to customize - friendly serviceCons- no photos on app for ordering and some items are named super similar- flavor of broth could be stronger - soup was not piping hot, but rice cakes and a few other items were overcooked"
"I was craving Szechuan and just spicy food in general and was looking for a spot since my go to is closed on Tuesday... but I might have found a new go to!I got the fried rice, spicy pork intestines, pickled long bean with ground pork, and the dumplings Dumplings were pretty basic but good. Fried rice wasn't too oily or salty and paired really well with my two entrees.Spicy pork intestines is one of my favorites and this place was able to hit the spot! Just enough numbing spice to make it addicting but it didn't over power the other flavors.Pickled long beans w/ ground pork was just the right about of sour and spicy so it just made my whole meal complete!"
"Loved this place! It's a casual spot where you can order from your phone using the QR code on the table. The food came out pretty quickly which was good because we were starving! The type of food was something new for us--at least the Dry Mix Hot Pot. And it was outstanding. The spices in there makes you want to keep eating. All of the food we tried had great quality and flavor. I loved the fried noodle dish. I wish they served a sauce with the pot stickers but I ended up dipping them in the garlic sauce that came with the eggplant. We will definitely be back to try more from the menu!"
"The dumplings and the beef pancakes are my favorite. My first go to place when I am just lazy and don't want to cook!"
"This place is cosmetically unappealing, but I love the fried ribs. That's the only thing I've tried."
"Walked around the neighborhood looking for a spot to eat. My boyfriend knew where it was and was describing it to me but I just couldn't remember. We'd been here before once a couple years ago, and at the time I suggested it. This time, he did and it was worth coming back for sure. We decided to dine in. No one was dining in but don't let that fool you. After we sat we saw quite a few people coming in for pick up orders and to-go orders. Part of the reason I came here the first time is because I saw the constant traffic in here while passing by. After we were seated we were served hot tea. We ordered vegetable egg rolls, fried tofu with crunch garlic - light spice level but definitely NOT mild. I liked it on its own but wish it were served with some sort of sauce. Soy sauce was adequate, but it didn't quite do the full trick. Would I order again? Yeah, my boyfriend isn't a fan of tofu at all but it's definitely a shareable plate. The tofu was crispy with a slight crunch, followed by the ultra crispy garlic and peppers. There is a LOT of garlic, hence the name on the menu being Snowy Fried Tofu. It's a dish for garlic lovers, plain and simple. Next up I ordered the Sizzling Chicken with Basil, which came to the table hot and sizzling served on top of a wooden setting. They knew this was a dish that many take home because I'm having it for leftovers tomorrow. It coming in foil was also great, making it easy to pour into a to-go container but aside from its convenient serving to make it easy to pack up, lets get into the flavor. For one, the spice level indicated on the menu next to the item is one , but it is served with many deliciously sautéed jalapeños, onions and leeks. Again, I love spice so I tore those jalapeños and chicken up! You'll get spicy, but not too much if you don't eat the jalapeños but seriously what is the fun in that?! The leeks served to slightly milden the dish, but my nose didn't get the memo. The chicken was nice and tender. Had to be thighs. This dish is a YES from the rooftops. The eggs rolls were eggs rolls. Enjoyed em with sweet and sour sauce. Finally, he ordered a bok choy soup with shredded pork. It is served hot, and I can't imagine it being eaten any other way because of it's thicker soup texture. It was thicker than campbell's chicken noodle soup. It's also very light in flavor and there isn't any spice. He enjoyed it. We were served attentively. I love that they don't have paper straws."
