"First time I ordered the Italian and this was during the beginning of Covid. Then I decided come here after work STARVING at like 8am last week. At 8am, there aren't much restaurants or shops opened that serve non-breakfast food. Had the Turkey avocado with sliced sourdough w/ no onions two times and also got the Bumpcity cheesesteak for my brother. A lot of bread options, customer service is quick and friendly. They have mini coolers that hold soda, juice and other drinks that you can get. The interior is clean and spacious. You can actually sit there and eat if you wanted to. I think I'm going to come here every other week now because the Turkey Avocado reminds me of this sandwich I used to eat as a child."
"The best Afghan fresh baked bread and other sweets .. best Afghan grocery market I live in OC but whenever I'm in SF then I always get a bunch of fresh baked bread from them"
"Formerly known as Food Bowl 99, this supermarket offers patrons the same fishy stench that packs a huge punch as you enter. The establishment specializes in Hispanic foods and beverages but carries a large variety of Asian groceries and items at well. The parking lot is huge in size which makes it easy to maneuver in and out. Cost isn't too bad but pay close attention to your purchases. There were a number of produce items that were not fit to be sold still placed out on the sales floor. Yuck.Lucky 7 Supermarket definitely wouldn't be a first pick when it comes to my grocery needs but it sure does the job it you're caught in a bind or simply lazy."
"This spot is in a location I pass by all the time on my way to I-80. It's not the kind of place I'd usually think to stop and dine, especially since it's inside a store--kind of like a liquor store or marketplace. But I love BBQ, and their big sign with pictures of their dishes caught my eye, plus the reviews looked solid, so I decided to give it a try. When you walk in, you're basically walking into a store, and you place your food order at the same counter where people buy their groceries. There's a small pickup window by the entrance for your food. The setup is pretty casual, so expect some foot traffic and a bit of crowding, especially near the door. There's no real waiting area, so I just stood by the window or waited in my car.I ordered the catfish and fries, along with some fried chicken. I didn't get any BBQ this time, so I can't speak to that. The fried chicken was already prepared--it wasn't fried fresh to order. It was decent, but not the kind of chicken that would make me rush back for more. The catfish was flavorful, a little greasy, but that's typical for soul food. It wasn't too salty, so that was a plus.I can't say this is a place I'd add to my regular rotation based on the fried chicken and catfish, but I might stop by again to try the BBQ since the reviews are so good. Overall, it's not a bad option if you're in the area and want to give it a go."
"They offer a lot of different selections for Asian dishes. I enjoyed finding things from all the ethic groups of Asia. They have a decent selection of fresh seafood in the store. We appreciated the customer service we got in the back while choosing out our seafood."
"it's obvious this Shalimar isn't a restaurant. probably hasn't been one for years. now it's a small time grocery store. maybe Indian, Pakistani for sure. small section of refrigerated and produce section. little ready to eat foods. buys: fried mint flavour potato sticks(2.49)-not as many selections as indian groceriesleftovers:-adequate parking in area-no patrons seen while i was there in afternoon."
"Although an average to good taqueria, Chavez nickels and dimes you for everything. Where any other taqueria in the South Bay offers free condiments such as cilantro, onions, or jalapeños, Chavez charges a lot for these. I often by carnitas by the pound and ask them to put onions and cilantro on top. Instead they sell me a small container that costs more than a whole onion and bunch of cilantro. Crazy as you would think Chavez gets these at a lower wholesale rate as a large supermarket than a small taqueria doe"
"Omg we came for some yummy tacos and I must say wow ! This place is pretty legit ! We got some tacos and burritos ! The tacos are good, slightly dry but they're good. Their Horchatas are not as sweet so it's perfect!"

Love their Tandoori chicken, can't get enough :) I've come here for the chicken over a dozen times now but my latest pickup was my biggest order yet. I ordered 15 pieces of uncooked Tandoori chicken for 5 people! The chicken was generously marinated and boasted a variety of spices. Everyone at the barbecue I hosted was satisfied.

Went to check out this new market. They place was full on a Saturday morning. This Market has everything India most of the stuff I didn't know about??. All I was interested In finding was my rice for diabetic witch is sold in markets like this. My usual placeIs a small store in Fremont. I was in luck they do have it. So I don't have to travel to Fremont. I give it 4 stars since parking can be a challenge. They share the plaza with A 24hr fitness center and beve mo. I really like this store and will be back to try Their snacks.

Stumbled upon this cute little market (more like a deli) by chance when looking for a quick lunch spot the week before Christmas. They sell a lot of Italian treats, snacks, drinks, pasta, sauces, and etc.Upon walking in, there's a little station to fill out your sandwich forms. The ease of going through the form was easy and quick. Write your name at the top and hand it to a staff at the counter. I liked a lot of their pre-selected sandwiches and went with the hummus, cucumber, and olive sandwich. It was definitely a hearty lunch that didn't break the bank. I also added a cup of split pea soup with ham, that was really delicious! Totally tasted each ingredient. My name was called when my sandwich was ready and I proceeded to the register. Easy peazy. The interior is spacious with ample seating that's spread out. They also have a couple of tables outside. Parking is per the usual challenges around this part of Oakland. However, they're public transport accessible by bus or BART. Next time I'm around this part of town and need a quick bite, I'll be coming to Ratto's.#47/2023

Quintessential East San Jo Grocer. Very heavy lean on hispanic digs but I'd say also about the other 30% of the offerings here are legit Asian with a heavy lean on things Vietnamese. I stock my fridge and pantry with more things from places like this than say Safeway or Whole Foods, so I was a good fit for this place. The store is somewhat in the hood, there's a security guard up front all the time. The store is pretty big, bigger than most corner stores. This is probably the size of an old American grocery back in the day, when the Bay Area was about a third the size as it is today. The store is pretty clean and well stocked and I was able to easily spot some sweet ass deals. I have a side hustle in this area, so I'll pop in every 2 weeks or so and I usually leave with a nice sized bags worth of staples.I love their produce and meat counter here, much more ethnic in offerings. Asian greens, chiles of all sizes and heat, herbage and even a seasonal fruit or 2. Most great prices, beats both Safeway and 99 Ranch. Their meat counter is order by the piece or pound. Didn't see things pre-packaged so you will need an employee, which I actually find charming in an old school way. No big selection for things like steak (unless it is carne asada) but many things meant to get cooked low and slow, which is a very ethnic way to cook. So lots of meats for braising/stewing or even slow roasting, which is actually my preferred way to cook on most days. Huge offal area too, better and more thorough than anything I have in my local area. Definitely an old worlder's dream and an American suburbanites nightmare. Even though I live in the suburbs, I definitely live with more old world tendencies. The only part I didn't really care for over here was their seafood counter. Very sparse and looked a bit sketchy. Even an American grocery store had a more valid seafood section, and that's kinda saying a lot. But outside of that one knock, this place fits me quite well. I'll continue to shop here, as long as my travels keeps me in their path. A service that suits me well.

Yall...If you want a really good fish sandwich, THIS IS WHERE YOU GO!!!My bestfriend was on the phone with me and he was ordering one. When we got off the phone, he sent me a pic of his Basa sandwich and my mouth instantly watered!!!So, I decided to go myself. They have their own parking lot, it's actually inside a store.. so don't be alarmed you see like a corner store. Park inside their parking lot. You also can order ahead, I am just now learning. But the wait was not long, I ordered when I got there. I ordered a Catfish sandwich with mayo, cheese, onions, lettuce, jalapeños... it's so fulfilling you will only eat half I'm sure, however I warned my other half up later and I only ate once that day!!!Your sandwich also comes with regular fries or onion fries. Please, go there now!!! They also have bbq and it's FIRE as well, I tried it a few years ago. Oh yes, and their prices are REASONABLE!!! * a win for sure, check them out

"Madina Halal Foods is at the backside of the commercial strip. good sized store even though front looks small.offerings: fresh halal meats, groceries, produce, condiments, refrigerated goods. not sure if eatery is open.buys: "Nan Khatai" classic biscuit (1.49)-% of nutrional info not very bad. slight amount of palm oil, sugar-slight sugary taste, fattiness.lots of parking, didn't see ready to eat goods."

"Indian Market is literally hiding in plain sight. to wit: the entrance is in the rear of the building that has Sidhu Liquor in front. turn into Sidhu's parking lot when u see a tall brown building cuz the next parking lot isn't accessible to Indian market. inside is a small grocery store with narrow aisles and the usual amenities: meat department, produce, condiments, frozen items, spices, etc. albeit in a small space with no pricing posted.3 check out cashiers in front. a Mr. Biryani take out food stand on weekends at entrance. menu is accessible via QR code.buy: Mirch Masala-Channa Dal (2.99) 12 oz.-split chickpeas fried with expeller pressed canola oil, flavored with tumeric.-spicy food burns calories i hear. -doesn't have the bad calories as usual "food"...leftovers:-the overall experience was confusing re the entrance in rear, no pricing on items, the cashier not having change for a $20, cramp space-difficult to socially distance3.5 stars results good but the journey was stressful due to uncertainties. would repeat. too many unknowns to classify as an hidden treasure..."
"Step right into the hustle and bustle of Apna Bazar, a super market specializing in products popularly used in south Asian cuisine and hosting a prepared food station for sweets and snacks.Located in the Irvington district of Fremont, this huge shop is fronted by a huge parking lot. Although there aren't a lot of spots with shade, it's typically abundant in spaces. Some folks like me probably haven't been around this part of Fremont as it's located off a side road and hidden by the historic buildings lining the main road.Right from the front of the building, you'll often see fresh produce and on-sale items nicely displayed to entice you into the shop. Their produce found here and inside the store are pretty good in quality and price compared to other grocery stores. If you're looking to grab some fresh fruits and vegetables, this place is a great option, especially if you're in the area.Aside from the fresh food, there are aisles of snacks from India and other south Asian countries. A lot of them seemed to be loaded with spices and would satisfy any heat seekers out there. They also had a variety of frozen foods like ice cream (so many flavors!). Even if you're not into snacking, these aisles were just fun to explore the different snacks originating from across the globe.Within the store there were also household goods, seasonings (so many options and premade ones too!), and even items for festivities and religious events. It was an enjoyable experience perusing the wares and checking out what unique items were readily available just miles away from home.Once you've filled up your baskets, head over to the far aisle of the store and start queuing. They typically have multiple registers open and are well staffed but due to the popularity of this store, there can be a wait. We didn't understand the process at first and just stood in one of the aisles facing one of the registers but were quickly notified that we had to queue in the big line and be individually called to each register as they open. Needless to say, that last aisle gets packed but it does allow you to find any last minute items before you pay.Overall, I'd consider this store a go to for your grocery needs but also a top contender for specialty items for anything related to south Asian cuisine. If you haven't been, it's worth exploring. Maybe before or after a stop at the local coffee shop/bar down the road!"
"First time here I was looking for some short ribs to make some Asian sticky ribs ...... initially I didn't see any But I was asked what I was looking for and sure enough they did have some available They cut up the short ribs how I wanted them Price is very reasonable Store is clean Customer service is friendly Street parking only Credit card and debit card accepted Just cus is not displayed does not mean it's not available"
"Los Pericos is a chain in the 'dro that operates mex markets and tacquerias. market is small compared to the supers but they have all theimportant departments: produce, groceries, meats, beers, etc. but no taqueria.place is clean, shelves are well stocked. only complaint is the prices rung up don't match the posted price. a few cents differentbuys: tecate(1.99) charged 1.79+ .30 +.10 =2.19-tamale(1.5) cbarged 1.59 (actually they forgot to charge this. reminded them.leftovers:-no biggee-smiling service3.5 stars"
"Jazeera Market's fantastic - they're close to Fireside and the Pacific Pinball Museum, so this is just the place to pick up something super unique to bring inside. They've also got a number of exotic coffees and delicacies, which I can appreciate. The friendly service just seals the deal."
"This whole mini-mall is packed with Mexican shops (though that Guadalajara taqueria next door is nothing special IMO). The market/carniceria is good though, because it's not too big, but it's well-stocked. The best thing about it is that I can buy the crumbly white cheese for my refried beans in small quantities, at the deli counter, instead of dropping nearly $4 for an entire slab of the stuff. Also the staff is super nice and helpful in case you have any gringo newbie cooking questions!"
"Damavand Market is the typical small Middle East/Afghan market. it's packed with the essentials: halal meats. fresh afghan breads, groceries, limited fresh produce, spices, grains, sauces, spices, sweets...buys: plain toast (tostada), 30 slices (1.99)-contains little fats, sugar, sodium, carbs. just 30 calories each.unlike other baked items which are quite fatty.-flavor neutral, may satisfy snack attacks.notes:-parking spaces are few."
"If you would like to try authentic Afghani dishes especially crispy, homemade bolani, you definitely need try this family owned restaurant/ market. They are by far one of my new favorite Afghani restaurants in the Bay. Loved their crispy potatoe and leek boloni for appetizer. If you crave delicious mantu, you should try their mantu dish. You can definitely tell that they cook every meal with love. They have delicious kabobs, but I love their flavorful shami kabob. I would definitely recommend it if you want delicious Afghani food. Bon appetite!"
"El Super Mercade is where Hayward Produce Market was. there's a long meat counter on the left side. the mexican eatery is at the left front corner. beers, beverages in the back. groceries in the center aisle.seen 2 cashier lanes in front. a taco food stand is in front of the store.big parking lot.drink: "El MEXICANO" aqua de coco (2.29) nautural 17.6 oz.-no sugar added, 100 calories with natural sugar sweetness.-pretty tasty stuff."
"I was looking for cold smoked mackerel as my friend suggested I try it (as I am a fan of sashimi to tinned fish). This market came up on my search and I am pleasantly surprised of the amount of items offered here. Coming here on a Friday afternoon, parking was plentiful and the market wasn't all too busy. I was able to take my time to wander around the store to see the vast amount of varieties offered. Everything was very nicely organized and clean despite being a bit compacted with so many products, I love it! It was probably about 15minutes before I had my fill of light browsing and went to grab a mackerel. While I was checking out, I think it was the owner that I chatted up told me about the popularity of pistachio butter and the chocolate trend online. It's very nice to see that a shop still care about their local customers and he stopped allowing bulk purchases (probably a reseller?) so that everyone can have access to some. By the counter, there's a bunch of desserts that I could not resist. I do have a weird tree nut allergy and I appreciated the owner looking for nutrition facts to see the allergens. I was able try 2 kinds of turkish delights, kiwi and orange - it was a very delightful treat... a little on the heavier end, but definitely something I'd want to get again to share with others. Final Thoughts: I'll definitely be back to check out more of the jams, teas/coffees as well as other goods here! Another stop to add to my list of favorite markets now!"
"Such a cute market. Whenever I make a trip here, I get some frozen dumplings from dumpling express then pick up some nice groceries. They have a great variety of milk. You can find Strauss and Alexandre milk here. Then on the way out, I can have either pastries or cream puffs. One stop shop."
"Great find in a residential district. The store is clean and the meat looks amazing. The staff are very friendly, helpful and professional. I did not have the opportunity to try the taco stand in front although I will be back soon to try it out. This is a great option in the area, the chain store's cant compete with many options and value pricing."
"was looking for some mexican breads/pastries. didn't see any. grabbed some ice instead.eats: Helados La Tapatia ice fruit bars, 2/$1-17 grams sugar, too much.drips:-curious 2 guys standing/sitting at front door talking on cellphonesobviously they were "security" guards of sorts-didn't check out rest of market. got strange vibes here.....owners obviously not amigos."
"the cart is in Super Mercado's parking lot next to the supermarket.menu: tamales, pupusa, tortas, tacos, burritos, hot dogs, aqua fresca, quesadillaseats: taco de tripe(1.5)-tripe deep fried, tasteless, squishy-lots of veggies included, sour veggies toohot dog (1.75)-miller beef dog?lots of onions, condiments, veggies on doggood value, yummy.drink: aqua fresca(sm, 1.25)-milky, trace of cinnamon, fab drink-definitely home made.foodnotes:-meats used for burritos, taco, etc. fried, would avoidpollo, asada, tripe, etc.-best to go with hot dog, tamales, pupusa, items without fried meat-2 stars for taco, 4 for horcata, hot dog.-quick service."
"Sangrams Palace is an indian grocery with neatly arranged produce, indian videos, indian snacks & groceries, newspapers, etc.place is small but all the essentials are present. .eats: zeefoods "Kulfibar" original indian ice cream (pistachio, 1.25) bar-2.5 ounces, tasty, vegetarian, gelatin/egg free-not too sweet, some preservatives in this.3.5 starsdrips:-friendly, respectful servicethey called me "Sir". sounds Brit. eh?-didn't look at the pricing of groceries,4 stars for the available selection."
"My dad really likes this place. It's across the street from "pill hill" on the telegraph side of the hill. They have been here for hella long but I have only been here a handful of times when giving in to my dad's request. They have a small grocery store side and a deli style cafe side. It is very popular with the EMTs and hospital staff. The staff seem very nice on the occasions that I have been there. The food is quick and healthy and it actually tastes good. So my concerns are that tables are not at clean as one would like matter of fact even the many of the other surfaces are no so clean. So just don't let your imagination wander about the things that the public can not see is all I am going to say. Other than that you can get a decent meal at a good priceOh also one last thing don't try to call ahead they never answer the phone"
"Namaste India is probably an indie, not related to Namaste Plaza which is larger and everywhere.looked at snacks. couldn't match up names of products to labels/prices on shelves. likewise with instant products. so passed. added incentive, many of the snacks fried, had high fat content. buys: kulfipop malai (ice cream bar)2.29-"milk, sugar, almond, pistachio, cardomom & natural flavors"-made in bay area, 510 area code-no calories, nutritional content listed. -"100% natural & vegetarian" whatever this means.notes:-lots of parking noonish. eateries nearby closed...."
"So here's the thing, it's another Asian grocery foods market in the heart of a small San Leandro neighborhood. The only kicker which I just found out is that owner of THIS market is practically my neighbor out here in Union City.....so you knowwwww which one I'll be reppin' from here on out! This market in actuality, is much more cleaner and organized, then its competitor across the street The selection may not be as large, but you're able to find things easily and 'cuz again, it's much more organized. This one also isn't so busy, so you'll be able to check in and out. You won't be bumping other shopping carts in this grocery store. Lastly, there's always parking in the front because this lot isn't shared between other restaurants."
"I'm giving this store 3stars because of the prices. Some items are reasonable others are outrageous. So if i could of given 2.5 stars i would. But I rounded up because i really like the butcher shop located in the back of the store. The prices are good and so is the selection. This store is located in a urban area so they have many items that you won't find at a Safeway bc they specifically cater to the black and hispanic community. There is a Krispy Krunchy located inside, as well as a hot food lunch counter. The store isn't very big. They do have many items that you won't find at larger grocery chains but I don't feel like they can really compete overall. This is a great place for fresh meat and one off items, but much too expensive to grocery shop."
"I don't really review markets but felt the need to with Khorasan. We went shopping for lamb chops for a BBQ this weekend and, since I have family that is Muslim, I needed halal chops. I've heard good things about Khorasan so decided to check it out. They have an abundance of meats, marinades and other items you may need. We only needed the chops. We ordered 10 pounds and watched as the butcher pulled a whole lamb from the freezer and expertly cut out the ribs and sliced them into the perfect pieces. We are extremely excited to BBQ these chops and can't wait to see how they taste. 10/10 will come back next time we need halal meats."
"Hernandez Produce & Market is open. street construction is happening. the corner parking lot isn't accessible. nor is the street in front of the market. some parking is available from the side street. the main sections are produce, fresh meats, grocery, spices, beverages. no fresh baked items, tacqueria nor alcohol.buy: "Gansito" filled snack cake" (1.49)-has lots of sugar, saturated fats, label in orange with white print difficult to read. wouldn't rebuy.no ready to eat foods seen."
