"I've been to Curry Up Now, three times. Which is a surprise because I've been getting pizzas at New York Pizza for years. But myself and my mother "discovered" this little place one day on a walk when we couldn't decide what to eat. And we are so glad we did! We've ordered the big share platter. The Tikki Masala and Butter chicken are just chefs kiss. The naan bread is so warm and fresh out of the oven. We tried their chicken tacos for the first time yesterday and it's definitely going to be a dish that I order for future visits. My mom loves the mango yogurt drink. The very kind lady working the register (I forgot your name I'm so sorry) is always polite and helpful when trying to decide what to order. She gives us such a warm welcome when we visit. I recommend this place 100%. The food is fresh and you can tell they put effort and thought into their ingredient and dishes."
"Unexpectedly surprised by this spot, had been here in the past when they first opened up and just thought of it as ok. BUT noowww though, yall better not walk and run that azz to your nearest Curry Up Now! The revamped menu from Chef Bikram is hittin with all the spices and flavors and I can guarantee there's something for everyone. Some heavy hitters for me were the:- Spicy fried chicken (that cilantro chutney cooked with them onions really made that sandwich)- Indian flatbread (never had something like this before, pleasantly surprised and would def order again)HOT TIP: this location is one that also has a bar, I had an early lunch there so I didn't wanna TU that early but that won't stop me next time LOLLService was great with that staff being very helpful in explaining all the dishes to me. Vibes def were there, I could see that being a nice spot to hit up after work with your coworkers."

"Oh my goodness! This place was amazing! If we lived closer we would eat here all the time! Everything we ordered was so flavorful from the green beans with tofu to the tea leaf salad to the coconut rice. What I was especially impressed by was their tea leaf salad...I didn't expect a kale based salad but it was AMAZING and I was surprised to find that I even prefer it this way. Highly recommend!"
"Came again this past Friday night. My wife was craving their Gluten Free chicken Sando and I opted to try the Entree this time and ordered it Flipped. The service was fast, and friendly. Raul was the person who took my order. This location always has a flow of traffic from people coming in to pick up their orders to people dining in. Inside has plenty of seating to wait for your food and it has always been clean when I have gone.My wife got the gluten free Sando with gluten free bread. My Flipped chicken entree was delicious. It came with a sweet buttermilk biscuit and a small tomato cucumber salad. We both got meals so we ordered a few drinks as well. Though I do love the fried chicken Sando I really enjoyed the flipped entree. The flavor was great, and the chicken was moist. The cucumber tomato salad was fresh as well. Only thing I'll do different next time is slap a little butter on my biscuit My wife Sando came with chips which she enjoyed and she ordered a side of ranch. I do like the ranch there, it tastes fresh. She also got a side of the hot sauce and habanero sauce. Another great experience at this location!"
"Now let's talk about this salad. I had the Tostada salad with chicken. Served on a fried corn tortilla shell without black bean, spring mix, romaine lettuce, red cabbage, without radish, carrots, queso fresco, pico de gallo, homemade balsamic vinaigrette on the side. I just realized my salad was not topped w/ guacamole but it was still good. Service was amazing, everything is freshly cooked and the ambiance was nice. It gets busy during lunch so I can imagine it gets busy during dinner as well."
"Best Burmese restaurant I've ever been to--and I've been to many. Ambiance is also so lovely. This is the place to bring a date. Or family. Everyone will fall in love!"
"Came by for Sunday lunch with a friend and enjoyed the experience! I had the Togarashi 2.0 with mixed legumes, and it was so delicious. The rice was perfectly cooked, and everything was perfectly seasoned. The overall meal tasted so fresh and thoughtfully prepared. The waiter was also very kind and provided us with cucumber infused water. Would definitely return again!"

I just so happened to sit next to the bar manager Brenden at Curry Up Now/Mortar & Pestle and he recommended the BEST drinks for my best friend and I. He personally crafted the recipe for a ginger & turmeric gin and tonic and a blue Hawaiian. Both were delicious and not too sweets. This is the perfect place for a pick me up. Definitely ask for Brenden the next time you come, he made our night.

Michelin Guide Bib Gourmand 2024! This is now my favorite Burmese restaurant. At 11:30AM on Saturday, my fiancé and I were the first customers. Immediately, we were warmly greeted. The friendly and efficient service lasted throughout our whole lunch. Our server made great recommendations on the menu as well. Here's what we ordered (spoiler alert: everything was delicious)-- Crispy Spicy Catfish: this was fire. My favorite dish of our meal. The spice comes on the side so you can adjust your spice level according to your preferences. The fish was perfectly fried, so crispy on the outside but still juicy on the inside! A 10/10 from me.-- Chicken Cardamom Curry: deliciously warm and filling. The chicken pieces are generous and juicy. We ordered rice on the side to pair with the curry.-- Tea Leaf Kale Salad: excellent flavors! I recommend starting with this. Tastes savory and crunchy.-- Roti with Dip: the roti is veryyy buttery but still good. Warm and easily pulled apart. Paired great with the curry we orderedThis area of Oakland seemed pretty walkable and nice (ish). Street parking may be harder to find on a busier day. The interior of the restaurant is really clean with natural lighting, so lunch here was a pleasant experience. I will be back!

2nd time having Proposition Chicken, but first time visiting the location on Lakeshore Ave in Oakland for breakfast. The person taking my order (Mike L) was very friendly and welcoming and presented options for breakfast and chicken offerings that come grilled or fried. Of course, it's the fried chicken breakfast sandwich with egg, American cheese, pickles, ranch on croissant bun for me! It was light, delicious and satisfied the crave. Friend enjoyed the classic breakfast with egg, cheese and bacon on croissant bun...simple but tastyPlace is clean, items made to order and ready in about 10 mins. Metered parking and next to Peet's coffee.

The best tasty salad in a minute! It's not just typical lettuce, it's a blend! Loved every bite! There is not only shrimp as a protein, but black beans as well!!!They do have Agua Fresca!!! Yum! Is very sweet, so just ask for extra ice if you don't want this super sweet treat with your meal! They also serve beer. The place is a bit dark with many colors involved! No bright colors, but there is outside seating available! This is 1/2 counter service, so order before you're seated! And they bring the food and drinks to you!The restrooms are clean and bright. There is only street parking or Bart parking.

We went for Saturday night dinner at around 6:30pm and there wasn't any wait. The service was amazing. The waiter always checked in with us throughout the meal and answered all of our questions. The inside was clean and a bit dim. The food was amazing. I highly recommend the Tea Leaf salad and the Lotus Chips! Those two dishes were super delicious.

It is so terrific to know that everything I order at Humbowl is GLUTEN FREE!My fave is the Avocado Scrambowl with chef Miles Kline's new addition of a Tika Masala sauce. My preference is to 'eat in' at the College St address, but I could order to be delivered, or find a dish at both Berkeley Bowls.Everything is made to order and deliciously seasoned and the place is open everyday

Organic? Hormone-free? Grass-fed? Sign me up! Ordered the chicken saltimbocca, sea bass, and surf and turf. Food was well seasoned and delicious! For dessert, we had the profiteroles and it was the best cream puffs we've had. Decor was really cute and the service was superb. Perfect meal and experience.

"Orchestria Palm Court has always been a beloved and curious little restaurant for me. It's a well-known secret for historians and theatre goers in San Jose's SoFa District yet many people don't know about it. Most likely because the doors are only open for 2 days a week for less than 4 hours a day. The former 1910 auto showroom has been filled with a collection of antique musical machines including self-playing pianos, orchestrion, juke boxes and Violano-Virtuoso which is a remarkable self-playing violin and piano combo. I always felt like the co-owner Mark (an engineer) wanted to find a place for his collection and then decided to serve food. The food however is not a second thought. The menu that features grass-fed beef, free-range eggs, and real creamery butter. I can always taste the difference when well-chosen ingredients are used. We enjoyed the Chicken Saltimboca, Boeuf Bourguignon, Strawberry Salad & Key Lime Pie which was so good we ordered a second dessert their Profiteroles. They have an odd yet functional system whereas you come in and pick your own table then head to the back bar to put your order in and wait for it to arrive. The prices include service and tax and there is a busser who fills your glass and drops off your food. In the interim the other co-owner (a Veterinarian) runs the antique fountain bar whipping up cool concoctions such as the Huckleberry Fizz, Poppy Dew and Apricot Ambrosia. Good old-fashioned milkshakes and "mocktails" when were the flourishing during prohibition. In between his fountain duties he runs about firing up the many different musical machines. If you have hearing sensitivies do not sit near a piano because they are LOUD. When your done with your experience you go back to the bar to pay your meal. They will never rush you and want you to sit back and enjoy your time. No tipping is allowed as there are no waiters. Just a reminder, Orchestria Palm Court is open only on Friday and Saturday, from 5:30 to 9:00pm and you must get your order in by 7:40pm. Reservations are obviously recommended."
"Let me start off by saying this place was a very pleasant surprise! We came here randomly after an appointment nearby wanting something other than fast greasy food. The salads were so fresh and just the bit of healthy we needed at the moment. Staff was super friendly. We sat at the bar which was fine because the place was packed out. It had a cool little vibe where a lot of people seem to work from there or come chill out. Some people were playing cards, lots of laptops and also friends just enjoying a good meal with one another. We will be back to try new and different combos!"
"We went to enjoy the day at Lake Merritt on a beautiful, sunny Sunday recently and decided to have lunch with Cool!naria. My boyfriend had the Tecolote sandwich with red chilaquiles, two fried eggs, kale slaw, sour cream, cotija and avocado. This is a sandwich to be reckoned with for sure! Huge and delicious with a great combination of flavors and textures. I had the street tacos which were the perfect size to try a few offerings. Chicken pibil, baja shrimp, and pork carnitas. Each taco had a generous amount of filling and was topped with fresh, crunchy kale slaw. They were all so tasty it would be hard to pick a favorite. I enjoyed each one. We spent a little time talking with the owners also and they are the nicest people. Fast service too.Keep an eye out for their truck and pay them a visit. You'll love it!"
"This place is absolutely delicious! I'm currently doing the keto diet. I love that they have super low carb options and that they understand the diet.I ordered the Key to Keto plate for myself while my partner had individual dishes. We enjoyed the paneer so much. It does have a hint of spicy which was very nice. The cauliflower is delicious, but it doesn't have that same look as the picture on doordash. We also ordered a side of the pickled veggies which were so refreshing and complemented the meal very well. The star of our meal was the cauliflower rice. I don't know what they are seasoning it with, but I have to say that it is the best cauliflower rice we have tried. The flavor was just lovely and didn't even feel like we were eating cauliflower. I highly recommend checking this place out. You can tell that the ingredients are fresh. My partner and I have also spent some time in India and the flavors, we feel, are as authentic as they can be. Although, we only tried the keto dishes, they were absolutely delicious!"
"Zoodle Hot Bar can be described as a health food restaurant. It features menu items that uses veggie noodles to replace traditional pasta. This restaurant is actually a cloud kitchen inside the Oakland Food Hall (aka Jingletown Eats) in East Oakland. The other day, I ordered Ground Beef Marinara Zoodle thru the Seamless app. The meal arrived promptly and still hot. However, the soft fiber food container was damp and was leaking a little. But the food looked good, as you can see in my photos. Good amount of beef on top of Zucchini spaghetti. How did it taste? The sauce tastes good. I miss the creamy texture of real spaghetti. Also, the sauce is watery. To be gluten free, I think you can still add more cheese and thicker tomato sauce. Maybe the problem is the veggie noodles don't soak up the extra liquid, and you end up with a pool of watery sauce. Ground Beef Marinara Zoodle, $15.90Anyway, I like the concept, it fits my dietary needs. I will try other dishes."
"OMFG DELISH! First experience with Ethiopian food and I was so pleasantly surprised - but also who am I kidding I wasn't expecting any less. We originally were going to get the Zuckerberg but I really wanted to try the lamb tib and my boyfriend wanted to try the chicken doro wat. We ended up ordering the original as a compromise. Amazing service from all the waitresses here. If you check in you get a whole veggie side. I forgot what it was called but it was a side mushroom dish. Super savory and cooked so well. Definitely love our combo. We came once the restaurant reopened for the evening so everything came out piping hot. It was such a huge portion for two people that you can for sure bring one more person to share everything. We left with leftovers for the next day. Will definitely be back!"
"I think it's decent but needs improvement on the flavor and less oil.For $75 for 3 people it's pricey and we left hungry. I think they need ro increase the portions because honestly the lentils were skimpy and there was like one small piece of chicken with a huge bone in it for one of the dishes. Also, the white meat chicken with the sautéed onions had a lot of spice with the jalapeño. I wish they would allow an option for no hot spices jalapeños because that wasn't the experience I wanted for Ethiopian food. The salad needed dressing, and was very dry.The injera was super sour and kind of stale tasting.I really like Ethiopian food, but this one was a miss for me."
