"Tin's Teapot Bistro was the venue of a dinner organized by black badge Elite Li Y. of Hawaii on 08/08/2004. Li was kind enough to extend me an invitation, and I finally got a chance to meet several long time Yelpers in person. This was my first time eating at Tin's since the pandemic. Upon entering, I saw Alice the owner working at the cash register. Really glad to see her still at the helm. The interior appeared to have gone through a slight upgrade. Cleanliness was still excellent. We were seated at a large round table. Our group of 10 elected to eat family style. We each picked a dish, so we ended up with a table full of food. Overall, the quality was quite good. My two favorites were the Salt and Pepper Pork Chop and XO Sauce Seafood Combo. Judging from the absence of leftovers, I'd say the others liked it as well.Service we received was terrific. The staff were friendly and attentive. Many thanks to Li for organizing this dinner. Good food, great company. Definitely a fantastic outing!"
"Best Dim Sum hands down that I had in Oakland. FAVORITE meal during my two week travel trip. I am a fiend when it comes to rice noodles and these are up there with my favorites. What a treat! What an experience!1. Pork Buns are divine2. Shrimp Rice Noodles for Days3. The Wonton Soup is a signature 4. Do not sleep on the Shu MaiMy Taste Buds officially rejoiced. Oakland City finally stepped up their food game. This place does China Town PROUD!"
"I can't believe I have not posted a review on this place. I have been going here for years and when I was at SJC, our Chinese flight crews came here for their lunches after arriving from China. Owned and operated by a family that lives in the neighborhood. They no longer have the dim sum carts but the food is just as good. Our favorites are the Shumai, Soup Dumplings, Stuffed Eggplant, Chicken Corn Soup and their specialty is duck. This year we ordered a turkey for Thanksgiving, and we really enjoyed it. Think Peking turkey! Even when crowded the place is good and parking is easy. They have seating for large groups with the lazy susan turntables and enormous round tables. Order at your table with your phone and a QR code or a small device on some of the tables."
"Final Thoughts: 4.48/5Dim sum for lunch with my friends after my 8-hour shift feels very rewarding. For this place, their dim sum menu is only available until 2:30pm, so just a caution with the time. We came at about 1:30pm and I had quite the pleasant experience from food to service. Food:1. Shrimp Dumpling (Har Gow): 4.4/5The texture of the har gow is to my preference - Optimal balance of softness, thickness, and chewiness. Filling was also optimal for all 4 that were provided. The shrimps are nicely cooked and well-seasoned. Texture of the shrimps were crunchy and I enjoyed it. I did dip this one in soy sauce, but it could have sufficed even without the extra seasoning.2. Siu Mai: 4.6/5My personal favorite item was this item. Four are provided to you. Size, temperature, and flavor were all very nicely done today. Each item actually came out piping hot, so please don't burn yourself. Texture wise, there's a nice crunch from the shrimp mixed with the pork. I split mine in half to cool it off and get a cross section. Optimal amounts of both proteins are provided. Flavor wise - Delightful. I love the balances of salty, sweet, and some umami from the sauce and fish roe. 3. Steamed BBQ Pork Buns: 4.1/5Seems to be your average buns. They came out nice and hot. Dough itself was still very fluffy with a good ratio of dough to filling. The meat was the standard red color. Flavor was also quite standard - well-seasoning with what I believe tasted like oyster sauce, soy sauce, and sugar. 4. Shrimp Rice Noodle Roll: 4.1/5Texture of the rice noodle rolls were nice and thin. Good chewiness and softness with some body to hold its shape. Ratio of the rice noodle and shrimp was alright. The shrimps are plump, but they are smaller in size than other places that I have tried. Light seasonings and balanced flavors overall. The sweet soy sauce has a nice umami and sweetness to it that just compliments this dish. 5. Pan Fried Green Onion Pancake: 4.0/5Very crispy pancake with some subtle flavors from the green onion. Lovely golden brown exterior. The outside texture is very crispy and the inside has the slightest bit of chew and pull to it from all the flattened out layers. Nothing too extravagant about this item, but it did pair well with a protein.6. XO Sauce Stir-Fried Rice Rolls: 3.9/5This dish always needs some kind of a protein to it because it's just rice rolls. There wasn't a significant amount that contribute to it, but I appreciate the shredded meat provided between the rolls. Personal preference, but I enjoyed the thickness of these rolls. They seem quite thick, but pair well with a protein. Nice spice and flavor from the jalapenos. Regarding flavor, some more flavoring would've elevated it. The sauce has a lighter taste to it that seemed to only be on the outside charring layer of the rice rolls.7. Salt and Pepper Fish Fillet: 4.2/5Definitely the protein that helped elevate the rice paper dish. Both paired fairly well together. Nice flavor of salt. I think I would have preferred a strong scent of the black pepper, but it was still good. They came out nice and crispy. Texture wise - Optimal. Slight crisp exterior and the interior was cooked to perfection. Not dry and just breaks apart with a soft interior.---------Quality: Fair All food items were good overall. Temperatures were desirable and very palatable. My two notes would be the shrimps used and BBQ buns. One of the buns had a crack running through the top, and I usually see that with frozen, thawed, and reheated buns. The shrimps aren't the biggest concern, but the size is smaller than others that I am used to. Price: Fair Between the three of us, we paid about $21 each, which I deem a fair price for what we got. Considering we got 7 items and still had leftovers afterwards - Ideal for a simple, but nice lunch date out. They have a variety of items from dim sum to kitchen menu items, so the price will range and vary depending on what you get. Service: Very efficientThe waiters and waitresses here took no time in seating us, checking in on us, and managing each table. They checked on us multiple times and there always seemed to be someone overlooking the tables. Each time we made a movement to signal for something/someone, they were usually already on their way over to us.Ambiance: TranquilSeems like a very nice and quiet area. The interior is quite large and did get a little drafty, but that wasn't too big of a concern here. We were seated at a large table and ended up huddling together to one side. Tables and space seemed fairly parted, so we were able to enjoy our lunch and talk comfortably even in the quiet space.Location/Parking: Fair to optimalThis place seems to be your average dim sum restaurant. The plaza is not one that I visit often. There are a variety of different stores presented here. Parking doesn't seem to be a concern at all. Some traffic is seen, but there were many spots available to us, nonetheless."
"It's LIKE Koi Palace but with a twist!O R D E R E D * Boneless Hainan Chicken Rice* Cold Chicken Feet* Sour Cabbage with Fish* Ikura dumplings* Scallop sui mai* Lobster shrimp dumplings* Pineapple buns with butter* Hainan chicken rice* Sitcky RiceV E R D I C TKoi Palace Contempo is a delightful twist on the classic Koi Palace experience. While it shares the same high-quality standards, it's not your traditional dim sum spot. In fact, their menu is about 99% different and focuses more on entrees than dim sum!I've only visited for lunch, so I can't speak to their dinner offerings, but here's what I can tell you: If you're planning to come, try to arrive before 12 PM to beat the lunch rush, as it can get busy.Their menu features unique items you won't typically find at other places. Some of my favorites include:* Ikura dumplings* Scallop sui mai* Lobster shrimp dumplings* Pineapple buns with butterThey do have a small selection of dim sum items, but the real highlight here is their extensive menu, offering something for everyone.Bonus points for convenience! There's a large public parking lot right across from the restaurant, so parking is a breeze. If you're looking for a modern Chinese dining experience with creative and unique dishes, Koi Palace Contempo is definitely worth a visit."
"This is my mom's go to dim sum restaurant in town. Even though dishes cost a little quality, and service just can't be beat. It's always busy, so we always get there right around opening. Huge space that can host banquets as well!"
"We ordered too much and we liked everything we ordered. The dimsum menu has pictures you can refer to. Service was excellent, we got our food quickly and they also cleared our empty dishes fast. It was busy with lots of families. There were 9 of us and we were so full ! My favorites included - tendons , steamed tofu skin , baked pork buns, chicken feet , shrimp dumplings and sesame balls. They don't take reservations for dimsum."
"Have not been here for years, the place is remodeled. They added dim sum menu. Food tastes good, prices are high for the portion, or it's just the inflation.Grill black pepper steak cubes $28.99Seafood crispy noodle $18.95Garlic pea leafs $23.99Salt and pepper fish $22.99Looks like they just raised the price recently."

I'm so glad my friends checked this place out on Yelp and recommended we go for lunch! It's a cozy spot with your traditional dishes, and service is quick. We didn't have to wait for a table on a Sunday early afternoon. We especially liked the siu mai and pan fried pork buns. Would recommend for local, affordable dim sum!

Final Thoughts: 3.71/5There are about half a handful of restaurants who provide dim sum all day and this is one of them. While dim sum is known to be a morning/afternoon thing, morning times just don't work for our group. Our schedules simply don't align, so I'm very grateful for their decision to provide it all day.Food:1. Shrimp Dumpling (Har Gow): 4.1/5Classic choice for dim sum. The shrimp filling was lovely. Shrimps seemed plump, steamed to perfection, and had a nice texture when you bite down. The wrapper was not my favorite. Texture wise, very sticky and soft as if it wanted to melt away like a corn starch mixture. My preference leans more on a wrapper that holds its form, has some chewiness, and a resistance, but still soft. Flavor - Delightful. This one didn't need any soy sauce because the balance of flavors in the filling did it justice.2. Shrimp Egg Pork Siu Mai: 4.4/5My personal favorite was the siu mai. This one hasn't failed me anywhere yet. Texture wise - lovely. The crunch from the shrimp was quite nice. I enjoyed the ratios of shrimp to pork. Seasonings were nice, as well. Here, I'm tasting soy sauce, with some salt and sugar combined. Fish roe to garnish on top of each one for the enhanced umami flavor and color contrast aesthetics.3. Steamed BBQ Pork Buns: 3.9/5Very fluffy and soft dough. Ratio of filling to dough seemed optimal. There's an aroma to the dough that is missing from these buns. It's a sweet aroma with a hint of the flour and yeast scent. Kind of hard to explain. Flavor was average - Nicely seasoned with what seemed to be soy sauce, oyster sauce, and a hint of sesame oil. The color of the filling looked to be lacking some of the redness that I usually see with other buns. I'm actually not complaining with this one, but just an observation.4. Shrimp Rice Noodle Roll: 3.7/5The rice paper used to make this had a similar texture to the har gow. It was pretty soft, but not as sticky. Definitely held its form a lot better. Not too much of a bite or resistance to it. Ratio of shrimp to rice paper seemed optimal because of how thin the rice paper was. Flavor wise seemed a little bland to me. This was the case with rolls on the bottom layer too even though they were just absorbing all of the soy sauce. The shrimp was lightly seasoned with salt, but I felt like it needed something more.5. Fried Shrimp Ball: 3.4/5 Hmm this one was your average shrimp ball with a crispy exterior from the eggroll wrappers. The size seemed smaller than ones that I am used to, but optimal for this dinner. Dipping sauce also seemed quite "average" - A little sweet, sour, and salty to enhance the flavor of the shrimp ball.6. XO Sauce Stir-Fried Rice Rolls: 2.3/5This dish needs to be paired with something because it was quite underwhelming when it came out. They're what you would expect, but I got tired of this dish after I took a picture of it because it looked like a bowl of dough. The XO sauce is truly the highlight of this dish. It's very umami with a nice balance of saltiness and sweetness. I can't pinpoint the exact flavor, but it seems like a mixture of oyster sauce, soy sauce, sesame oil, and hints of seafood. This paired with the spiciness from the jalapenos were a nice touch.---------Quality: Optimal Most items came out piping hot, which is ideal, but please do not scald your mouth like I did. Items like the har gow and siu mai are quite juicy. They are not skimping on the fillings and I appreciate the choice in using certain types of ingredients like the jumbo shrimp. Price: ExpensiveSix items for a total of $66. Average paid between 3 was $22. Not horrible, but not the best either considering a lot of the items were flour, dough, and some shrimp.Service: Fair to OptimalQuite fast service and very friendly. My one note is the order of how the foods were delivered. The Fried Rice Rolls came out last and it looked pretty underwhelming at that time soley due to what it was. I would have preferred for this to come out within a better timeline of my other food items, so that I could enjoy it together with an item that included a protein.Ambiance: TranquilQuiet day in the restaurant today even for us going during rush hours. This may have been related to the rainy and cold weather that day. Somewhat drafty in the restaurant and that may likely be related to how open and spacious the interior is. Very nice and quiet dinner for us, so no complaints here.Location/Parking: FairThe restaurant is right next to the streets, so people drive by it and can easily find it. Not hidden anywhere and seems like an optimal spot. This is another location where I refuse to go alone (mostly at night). Again, it was raining that day, which made visibility a little bit more difficult. The lights were dimmed out, as well, so the parking didn't look like an ideal place to be at. There is a long stretch for this parking lot, so it doesn't seem like parking should be an issue for this area.

Yelp reviews of Koi Palace put it on our radar for a special occasion. The opportunity presented itself when our oldest daughter wanted Dim Sum for her Birthday Brunch. Parking was challenging but after circling the shopping center several times a parking spot opened up near the restaurant. The restaurant was very busy but we were seated upon entry. More upscale in decor than our regular Dim Sum favorites this carried through in the presentation of the dishes we ordered. We were pleased that the food was as delicious as it looked. While the final bill was a bit pricey it felt worth it for the special occasion that we were celebrating.

Coming back to the Asian Pacific Mall, I think Asian Pearl just went through a major revampand restaurant upgrade. Seems like there's a newer wine program, the evening we stopped in there was a Warrior's Game playing on their new HUGE projector screen, and the dinner dim sum menu was a fun treat (not sure if they've always done that). We ordered a few items from the dinner dim sum including steamed pork buns and pork/shrimp Shiu Mai. Also grabbed from the regular menu garlic string beans, bbq pork fried rice, and potstickers. They had a great crowd on a Saturday evening ~ never having been to Asian Pearl outside of weekend dim sum (a bit more pricy), can't wait to come back. Our little guy was ready for bed, so we ended up having to get our order to-go, and the staff was super attentive and helpful in getting us on our way. We live close, so this made for a yummy and comfy couch feast :)The mall was decorated cute for the holidays, with a few new spots that had opened since our last visit. The mall felt alive and hoppin' for a Saturday night, which was great to see! There's not a lot of spots to watch a game in this side of the East Bay so new fun fact, we will try coming here again for light bites or a full meal during game time!

We headed over to Kirin with a big party on a weekday at noon and Kirin was able to quickly accommodate the party. At first, the menu seemed overwhelming with all the choices we were offered. But it felt like all options were good options. We ordered both from the big menu as well as the DimSum menu and everything came out quickly and was delicious. All of our dishes were big portioned and we struggled to finish our food. We even ordered Peking Duck and it came out super quick.Staff was nice and quick to respond whenever our table needed anything. Overall a good choice if you want a quick lunch for a small group or a big group. Price was quite reasonable as well, will definitely come back.

"The service here was great. We had a very helpful and courteous waiter. The food came out quickly and the location is great (across the street from the Ranch 99 with the Daiso and Savers). The ambiance was pleasant with large windows which let in a nice sunlight. With my rating of their dim sum, I am going to compare it to Mayflower, my current top dim sum spot.Shrimp & Chives dumpling =tiedSalty egg yolk dessert bun=Golden Sand Harbor wins because they give more filling. It came out hot and was delicious and creamyJin Dui=Mayflower is my preference as I felt Golden's had a too strong five spice flavorTaro Gok=tied (can somewhere please serve it piping hot-yes I want it to practically burn my mouth)Chinese broccoli- this one goes to MayflowerXiao Long Bao- Mayflower by a landslide...do not order this here at Golden and if you do, don't say I didn't warn you. Also it isn't served with black vinegar but after trying it, even that couldn't save it. No one in my party wanted to finish eating it.Flaky dim sum with pork-Golden Sand Harbor (Mayflower doesn't have this)"
"It's been nearly eight since last review. However I've been back a handful of times for my go to combo + other add on's.Not much has changed. The little shop in this strip mall reminds me of a mom and pop business in Sf's Chinatown where staff speaks Chinese and shipping boxes are everywhere in the entry lobby. Im sure it's organized chaos. I have my favorites and I point on the board but since I don't speak the language, the older Chinese lady becomes louder and near rude when I dont understand. Please can I make a public request to have someone who can speak and understand English as a front person with adequate customer service knowledge. That person can work with rude lady, if needed.Although my favorite items (Baked BBQ pork bun, turnip cake, congee and yellow noodles) have me returning). I'm afraid to recommend this location bc of the minimal English and rude customer service i encountered on 12/28."
"I order delivery or pickup at least once a month. This is some of the ultimate comfort food. i love all their different rice rolls with that yummy sauce and get the fried tofu that served with a side of seasoning powder. The pastries and dessert buns are also quite satisfying. Always a perfectly satisfying amount of food for me"

Goooood! All delish like your fave relish! Dui!Would order everything again!Woohoo!"
"Fong Kee has been my go to spot whenever my family and I are craving for some delicious clay pot rice! I would say this is the best clay pot rice place in the entire Bay Area. I've been here a couple of times and I always leave happy. The clay pot rice is super fragrant with a crispy golden bottom. Perfect amount of topping to rice ratio. My favorite is the eel with chinese sausage! It is super healthy and filling. I also really like the pork patty one which reminds me of what my grandma makes for me when I was a child. Service is standard and quick. It does take about 15-20 minutes for the claypot. The restaurant does get pretty busy during the weekend so prepare to have a small wait. Overall, 100% would recommend! All my friends that I took here also loves it!"
"The last time my family and I came to Golden Sun Palace was on 12/16/2019, right before the beginning of the pandemic. That was a good day because we got to hang out with some close family friends and relatives over dim sum. Exactly five years later to the date, my family and I made our return here for a dim sum outing. The place was pretty quiet when we walked in at noon. One of the staff greeted us and she led us to a table by the windows. The interior was clean, and did not appear to have gone through any renovations since the last time we were here. Our server got us tea while we perused the vast dim sum menu. As soon as she returned, we placed our order. We ended up getting eight items plus beef chow fun. Our food started to arrive in 15 minutes, in stages. The first thing we noticed was that the dim sum items were made in-house instead of premade. Overall, we were pleasantly surprised with the quality. Everything was on point for the most part, and they did not skimp on anything. If I had to nitpick, I would say the beef chow fun was a bit greasy and the har gow skin was somewhat mushy. Service we received was very good. Our server was friendly, polite, and efficient. Prices were very reasonable. Dim sum items ranged from $4.95 to $9.95, and the beef chow fun was one of their daily specials at $11.95. Tea charge was waived. The total, with T/T, was about $77. Based on this experience, we will definitely return! BONUS MATERIAL:- Ample parking on site.- Major credit cards accepted.- Their tip suggestions are based on post-tax amount.- Check out their weekday daily specials, which include noodle/rice dishes, entrée items, and dim sum combos.- No tea charge."
"387 9th St Oakland, CA 94607Ying Kee is an old school Chinese restaurant in the heart of Oakland Chinatown. I was walking by on a chilly day, and decided to go in for a hot bowl of Wor Won Ton Soup. The lady was on the phone, and she waved me in and told me to sit anywhere. The interior is outdated and a bit of a dive. I could tell this was a legit chinese restaurant because there were no forks on the tables. I ordered Wor Won Ton Soup, Potstickers, and hot tea.Service was quick and attentive. I was served Seafood Wor Won Ton Soup. Price $13.50. Just one look told me I should of ordered something else. Maybe I should of asked for noodles? Not much for $13.50. Maybe 5 dumplings, regular broccoli, fish cakes, fish balls, and some pieces of fish. The potstickers looked exactly like the frozen ones I got from Amazon Fresh. Total bill: $21.Will I return? Yes, I will return and order something like Tomato Beef Chow Mein, and see how it turns out. Hopefully I have a better experience. Street parking"
"The restaurant is located at the heart of Chinatown, right next to the parking pay station. A spot where a lot of locals come to get a quick meal or to chit chat with their friends. There is always a line out the door on the weekends. Food: 3/5 - Food is just decent. I do really like the crispy pork since the crunch on the skin is satisfying to munch on. The cuts that I got were on the fattier side so I wasn't a huge fan. BBQ pork was dry. There are better restaurants in Chinatown that serves similar food. Price: 5/5 - Affordable. A lot of special menu and promotional items so you can usually score a meal around $10-15 per person. Environment: 3/5 - My table was a little sticky and there were food scraps on the floor. The restaurant was also really noisy and crowded. Definitely need to use your outside voice in here. Customer service: 2/5 - Minimal. Waited for 15 minutes and the servers didn't even check in on us to take down our order. Couldn't flag down a waiter so I went to the counter to pay. An automatic 15% tip was included in our bill which I didn't notice until I paid. The party next to us pointed it out before paying and the server said it was a "mistake" and remove the charge from their check. Overall, I would not come again to dine-in since there are so many better restaurants in Chinatown. I might order the roast pork to-go but I definitely will check on the cuts first."
"!!!CASH ONLY OR VENMO ONLY!!!It quite embarrassed us to download Venmo and pay the bills. And finally we have to Zelle the restaurant.Arrived around 7 PM and it takes a solid half hour before we got the food served. I think they're quite busy with takeout orders. There are roughly 10 tables inside and almost nothing is served. Indeed, I don't think they charged with tips. And it's quite noisy as it's closed to the kitchen.Food is actually tasty and very authentic flavor either the clay pot rice or the chicken with dried mushrooms. Chicken is very good and tender. Many customers are Cantonese speakers 街坊 so you can trust their food quality.I will deduct one star on the service: I think the waitress speaks Cantonese and talk to other customers in Cantonese. Obviously I can understand. But, when we order using Mandarin, she immediately switched to English and left us feeling awkward."
"Just had my second visit to Cooking Cooking, and it was fantastic! I've been craving their Peking duck, and it didn't disappoint. The duck was crispy, not too salty, and the meat was tender. Their soft buns were the perfect match. We also tried the kung pao chicken, spare ribs in honey chili sauce, seafood fried rice, and stir-fried assorted vegetables. The spare ribs were a favorite--they were fried perfectly, and the sauce was just right. The complimentary tea and dessert were a nice touch. The tea helped with digestion, and the red bean soup for dessert was just sweet enough. What's more, their service was lightning fast, and I loved how they had extendable tables. We ordered so much food that we were running out of space, but the table extensions came to the rescue!Overall, a great dinner experience. Can't wait to go back for more!"
"One of our hangout spots with good friends late in the evening . Wait time today was longer than expected. It seems like everyone is here on a Saturday night for dinner. Service during this visit was mediocre not attentive , understandably, busy night for all the staff . Our group's favorite dish were pork ribs, bitter melon with black bean sauce cooked in clay pot. We could order another plate of their crispy tofu with black pepper & jalapeno. Follow by stirfry ong choy with fermented tofu . who would've thought fermented tofu goes so well together with the leafy vegetables. Hainan chicken dipping sauce were so delicious except I didn't like that. The chicken was refrigerator cold, I know that's how it was supposed to serve . Our two least favorite dishes were the shrimp vermicelli clay pot & the roasted duck noodle soup. MM mom NBCOf course we finish off with waffle balls with fresh fruits, light airy, a little fluff, and the Asian says not too sweet. It's a good thing."
"Came for a banquet style celebration and thought the food was excellent, in particular the cha shu and the shrimp eggrolls. We didn't get to try the dim sum but I would definitely come back.Service was rude and lackluster as expected from a well established Chinese restaurant, that was the only thing that bothered me.Unfortunately it was rainy and overcast today, so the view of the bay was not great. I can see why this is a desirable restaurant to dine at though, because on a clear day, the view must be beautiful."
